For yesterday,
Early morning cuddles with small dog, she does love a good snuggle together.
Twas my birthday so cards, pressies and another meal out. This time it was lunch out at our favourite posh hotel, sat by the window with views out down the grounds to the river, smashing food and even better company.
Home, DSIL and two nieces waiting outside cottage, they had brought cake - glad I forgo dessert! - lovely catch up over cup of tea and more presents!
Bit of rune reading and a book lent to my eldest niece, she is looking for a spiritual path and most interested in my beliefs.9 -
VJsMum Thats my neck of the woods. You should have waved!! Bet "dog poo alley" was the bit on the seawall by the old power station!
The heritage coast is lovely. It was the 1st in Wales and possibly UK. Stunning views.8 -
Lainey - so sorry, completely missed the fact it was your birthday yesterday. Belated birthday wishes, hope you enjoy the rest of your birthday year!!

Bonne anniversaire pour hier, Lainey!
Sounds as if all was très Hotel Splendide.
Really glad your special day was just that, first to last.

1. Several miles' riverside walking and now back in car as daylight lessens. Thermos not so hot but warm is better than cold. It's a chilly day despite the sun.
2. Ducks and swans, one of whom had a hissy fit as & did her good girl thing, reaching down near to pick up a bottle+2 cans for rubbish.
3. Love this pic from yesterday. That peregrine's expression!

4. Where did & end up after very good church yesterday? In the Alma bien sûr!😁....the little matter of Les Bleus v l'Écosse and what a match! Of course, & wore All Blacks vestments and re-met friends français and kilted. Joyous afternoon.🏉
5. Latest marmalade - Temperance Lime(sans alcool, c'est pourquoi😁)is a success and jars are being gladly accepted. &'s first taste this morning. Yup, it's very passable, even when & has renounced wine, choc and dairy until Easter.

A middle-aged man with a remote-controlled speedboat is not popular with swans, as he zooms and circles it round them.☹️
Definitely cold now, but plenty of rowers still out training. May Bumps back to normal this year?

Hello and the biggest of hurrahs! The big working days are done!Rubbish sleep ( sore shoulder was sore) and I was just about to press snooze on the alarm when the dog said let’s get up now. Sigh! So we did. Quick doggy walk. When I say quick…it’s a case of you can either sniff or walk further. He chose sniffing! In to work early so not daylight at that time but not pitch black either. Lordy! So much to do. I was very stressy but did eventually catch up with myself! I like to be very organised and in control. Definitely out my comfort zone this morning. Anyway it’s done!Good company and chatter and a bizarre 90’s playlist! Barbie girl! Macarena! Shoop shoop song! ( which I actually had the CD single of and played it repeatedly whilst studying for my final exams hundreds of years ago! But we all knew the words to every song!Tips a bit meh but more than I had this morning. You can have a really busy day and get hardly any and a quiet day and get loads! I just take what I get with gratitude ☺️
And home with a bag of chips for my tea! Cannot bear cooking after a day of doing it for others! The chap has moved in with us. There is much stuff! They are hoping to save for a few months and get somewhere together or at least be in a position to pounce on somewhere if it comes up. Here’s hoping all goes well ( I have plans for those bedrooms 😆😆) they popped in to see me at work.
And DD1 started back at uni today to do her Masters course. Hurrah!9 -

Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Trying to get my election work sorted out. It is impossible to log in to my account so I have had to email and ask if I can be a poll clerk then do the count.
3) My brother popped in briefly.
4) The pre-house viewing tidy up continues. Beds changed, sofa throw washed. Just need to clean the bathroom and the floors tomorrow. And the windows!
5) Went to B and Q and bought 8 primulas to brighten the garden a bit.
6) English class went well though I was asked to reconsider my "plans" and life choices. There is often a moment of tension where I have to say I'm English. Yes, born in England. Yes, I have English parents. I have never been asked where I originate from so many times in my life as during these classes! The lack of a religion is the other thing that confuses them.
7) Had an Indian takeaway for tea.
8) I did go out to look for the Northern Lights last night but couldn't see them. I will try again later despite the cloud.9 -
1 As we have the new ferret place under construction, the conversation went well let’s move and get a new radiator so it’s in the room but not on top of the fuzzies, and if we are doing that we may as well also buy a big new one to replace the grotty one in the hallway. So today DH removed the radiator, and it appears just in time as it had rust spots on the back, I got on with painting that part of the hallway, and then also patching any other places and that led on to the boiler cupboard where any paint job even my bad one will be better than what was. Two coats later and everywhere looks a bit more loved, but the second coat went on working in the artificial light so I may need to repair tomorrow. Some evidence of 4 pawed help, this is Custard offering his expertise.
2 Made a burger with egg and cheese, in a bun with chips for dinner, lunch was tomato soup with leftover curry mixed in, that really tastes lovely.
3 Tried to see the northern lights but no joy over here, we looked for other places to see it from and came up with a few more walks but no lights.
4 Watched a soppy film.

fingers crossed firth i missed them last night and we have mist tonight boo
1) lovely walk in though brrr it was chilly
2) we have some students from ukraine and they cooked us lunch - it was very delicious and very emotional - they had also painted the napkins
3) then a bring and share at the last meeting of the day - had totally forgotten but knew i didn't have time to get home between this meeting and the next so had made a pasta salad - presented that and had a guilt-free feast
4) agm of community-owned land - always good to catch up with neighbours - we all agreed the rewilding at the end is going well though less agreement of the laurels - ex's bandsaw has found a good home though at the men's shed yay
5) sitting on the exercise bike looking out the window saw a lovely foxMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

For yesterday,
Food shopping and a coffee with my pal in the cafe.
Drove over to our local big recycling plant where they give away soil conditioner made from the green waste, looked lovely stuff so I filled up three old horse chaff bags. This will be mixed in with the soil in the plantars.
More things horticultural as my seeds arrived, great service from a local firm.
Over to see pony, she was last of her group of horses to come in but well behaved all the same. Gave her a good groom, her evening meal and left her with a big hay net.
Home and the courier fairy had come with an extra present, a mix your own gin set, my family know me too well!9
