Morning! For Friday:Out with doggy early ( thankfully when it was dry)
Went out sharp to B&Q to get a new pressure washer. Had a £5 off voucher…but will probably have to return it today grrrrr!Home, hello doggy. Let’s build a pressure washer! ( more growling from me at this point) went to finish power washing and pfffft! Went for a while and then started losing pressure and power. Looked at the trouble shooting list but this didn’t seem to be a problem. Anyway it will need to go back. Grrr.
Friend came round for a visit which was lovely. She was just leaving as I was visited by three robins at the one time!
Then I started a book I’d picked up in supermarket charity bookshelf. And I’m about to start the sequel! I just read and read! Till I finished it.Have a lovely day 😊10 -
For yesterday,First thoughts on waking were hurrah it’s Friday and Capt S has day off!
Pottered around in the morning, usual chore of changing the bed and finally remembered to get one of small dog’s blankets off the line, I had washed it on Tuesday and it had hung out there ever since!
Out to one of our favourite pubs for lunch, I had a Catalan fish stew followed by a chocolate orange cheesecake, oh my! glass of wine as well because my beloved drove.
Rest of the afternoon was spent lolling about, reading my book and embracing my inner sloth.
Read back through one of my old diaries and happy memories of 10 years ago when me and Capt S first got together ❤️12 -
Morning all 😊
A bit better week - phone appointment with doctor, blood test and chest X-ray done, asthma review booked, fingers crossed on results. Finally got physio appointment date - 23rd March! Several towns away or it would be much longer ☹️
Back was easier enough to allow a slow swim , mostly on my back 🤣
In better news, OH got his date for his ankle operation - 25th February! In a local private hospital (but on the NHS) so he will be out of action and on crutches for a while, but hopefully with a good outcome.
Managed a very short stroll on a sunny day in the park with friend followed by a sausage in a roll in the cafe 😋
Met bestie for pub lunch yesterday, poor food but good company 😊
Off to the Union Chapel tonight to see Rumer (Valentine’s treat from a year or 2 ago). It’s a relatively easy journey and will take cushions for the pews 🤣. We’re also eating there so it will save walking to somewhere else. Had to miss another concert last week because of my back so 🤞 crossed for this evening.
have a great weekend everyone 😊10 -
Morning all
Mhags - grrr to the pressure washer
Frith - i have come to the conclusion that otters are fictional. I never see them either. even in zoos they've disappeared when i got to their enclosures
Pleasures for yesterday
1. More bonfiring, clearing, logging. And a boot full of logs for our woodburner - for next winter.
2. coffee out of the station cafe machine - lovely
3. Seeing OH's pleasure when he 'split' the logs with an axe
4. a lovely bath when i got back - no longer stink of woodsmoke
5. An evening of Gin and tonic, lasagne, wine, cheese and tv.
Have a lovely day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens10 -
Lainey, they are sweet pleasures.
For the past 2 days
1 Pleasure is DH, I received a thanks but no thanks further to the interview, and DH said he heard some of the interview and said it was good, thou he might be biased however also know the support was appreciated.
2 I recovered some sad looking bakes from the bottom of the freezer and used them up for lunch, and dinner is chickpea pasta with veg and meatballs.
3 Clean bedding for us and the fuzzies.
4 Grilled burgers and oven chips is dinner tonight, all from the freezer.
5 I’ve just ordered some half price bedding and socks, I know not exciting, but it’s half of the old price and the new price is higher, much higher.

Hello!A rainy start to the day then it all dried up.I’ve had three decent ( by my standards) nights sleep. Taking painkillers before bed seems to be making a difference! Duh! Not sure why I never before, other than I hate taking tablets.Found some genealogy stuff for my sister ( the reason for her calling the other day!) I have the box of all the certificates going back years and years. Found out what she was after. Then it was time to get ready for friends coming for lunch. Honestly it was the loveliest of afternoons. I so enjoy setting a table and cooking for others. We had a platter with hot food which was honey roasted parsnips, sausages, breaded mushrooms, garlic bread and a platter with salads, breads, cold meats and cheeses and coleslaw. I made a peach crumble for pudding too. So much to catch up on and much chatter and laughter and big big hugs! First time we’ve caught up in person pre-covid which is ridiculous!Sat in front of the log fire and chatted some more. Then when they left I sat and read and read until I finished the book I started this morning! Two books in less than two days!A good day!10

Hi again.
Feeling tired today but some lovely pleasures:
1) Super day yesterday, we all (siblings and spouses, eight of us in total) met at the churchyard to look at mum and dad's stone/plaque. Beautiful old village church has seen many of our family marriages, christenings, etc. The sun was shining and the churchyard was a riot of snowdrops and primulas. A delight, mum and dad would have loved them. They are tucked up together safe and sound, just as they wanted to be, and nothing can hurt them now.
2) Then went for lunch at a local bistro pub, followed by the afternoon and evening at my eldest brother's house. Lots of fun and laughter round the table, mum and dad would be delighted to know our tradition of family get-togethers is continuing.
3) Brother from down south asked what the arrangements are for my birthday next month. Told him I had booked to go away for the weekend, super hotel and two theatre trips booked. He then suggested we go down to theirs for a few days afterwards. Not possible afterwards but we can do a few days beforehand. Then agreed it would be nice to stay in the Cotswolds, visit Blenheim Palace and a very posh garden centre I've wanted to go to for ages and spend some time in Oxford. Other brother and sister and their spouses decided they would join in so we are all booked into a lovely Cotswold stone hotel for three days, after which we will all go our separate ways and hubby and I will get a couple of nights on our own with theatre trips both evenings. Perfect!
4) Was relating all this to my son today and he said get back in good time on the Sunday (my actual birthday) and he and the boys will organise a birthday tea and birthday cake so they can share the birthday celebrations. So we can have a leisurely morning, a laid back celebration lunch and then back for a party with my menfolk. Fab, and all with no effort on my part!
5) Booked an overnight stay near a big shopping centre in May so hubby and I can visit a Royal Horticultural Society garden, stay over and then go suit shopping for him the following day for the posh wedding in July. If he has to go clothes shopping, which he hates, then we might as well make a couple of days of it and then all the big stores are together in one place, pretty much guaranteeing success with the new suit. Plan B, if we have no joy, is that I will fatten him up a bit so the suits that are now on the large side fit him again. Have a sneaky feeling hubby would prefer Plan B...
Hope everyone is having a good weekend, off to get tea ready now - nice and easy tonight which is good.

Some lovely pleasures as we spend time with family & friends and the anticipation of doing it all again soon.
For yesterday,
A lie-in followed by boiled egg and marmite soldiers.
Took small dog for a walk around the field, not too muddy and lovely to see the hedges full of busy birds.
Driving over to the stables and saw at least six hares in the fields.
Spent ages using the grooming mitt to help girlie shed her winter coat, all the mares on the yard are starting to feel the woohoo side of approaching spring inc the littlest occupant, a 10hh Shetland!
Home, hungry so tea was Lincolnshire sausages and chips.9
