Sorry to hear that your back has been bad Paulie, hope the physio is sorted soon.
Hurrah for a good doc SSue.
For yesterday,
A red sunrise on one horizon, a full moon setting on the other.
Lesley Manville on DID, one of my favourite actors.
Cleaned the inside of the mini, most of what I hoovered up was either shavings, mud or hay!
Had to get the mending needle out after small dog run up to us on our afternoon walk with her coat hanging off as the front strap had come away.
The final episode of Happy Valley, oh my!10 -

Hello! And the working week is done! Hurrah Hurrah Hurrah! 😁
Holy moly it was a busy, busy day! But done which is the main point.Up early and watched HV. Excellent series and a good ending.Out with doggy, had an extra sniffy walk this morning.Walked to work. Full moon in one direction and gentle sunrise as I turned a few corners in the opposite direction. Didn’t have to dash home mid morning so didn’t need to take car.Good company. Good tips.Walked home. Lovely fresh air. Then walked into what felt like Dubai airport when you get off a flight on the tarmac! Heating had been left on all day! Waaaah! At heat. And more importantly cost!Quick wee, dinner, then big cuddles. ( that’s the doggy!)
No more early starts this week ( at the moment so no alarm setting required) will probably wake up at the same time!Had to put in for some spring annual leave, a good few weeks away yet but that’s something to look forward to! I may just be off the day clocks spring forward 😉12 -

Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to M and S for a cup of tea.
3) Went to the library to print out things for the afternoon.
4) Went to English class which went OK. I made the mistake a few weeks ago of saying I know some German and one man had been there for a few years and now speaks German to me quite a lot... Donated smaller son's old phone and some books while I was there. I stood chatting with another lady at the end and one security guard gave me a samosa and the other offered me some hummus!
5) The doctor phoned me 9.30ish and I was in having an appointment before 5pm. Various tests ordered (blood test Friday) and she is most concerned about the thing that concerned me the least! An ENT appointment and MRI are being organised for the constant pressure and tinnitus in/behind my left ear. I hadn't been to the doctors in 6 years so it had been rebuilt in that time and I couldn't find the stairs.
6) Had a few chats with bigger son.
7) I'm now on series 2 of Happy Valley. No spoilers!9 -
Admiral, are you back at the mill?
A mish mash from the week, for the past few days I really don’t know what happened much, on Weds I think, I went up to sort out the laundry, thought I really don’t feel well, que honestly I know it sounds cliché but I have been very ill before with Swine flu way back when, but and this was worse there was a point there where I couldn’t even lift my arms, and barely talk, I did the covid tests all clear.
For last week
Up at 6 to make sure rhubarb and custard had a little something to eat and then popped them into separate cages for for about 90mins while we got up and fed to make sure they didn’t have access to one of their many stashes of dried food around. After a very stressful wait, all is fine and as it should be, we popped in a microchip while they were under also. We bailed them out and their report card was amazing bruisers.
A daft thing happened, I was plodding on doing washing and had the phone on me at the point they might be calling. A random mobile phoned so I answered it while loading the washing machine apprehensively only to find it was one of the roles, I applied for wanted an informal chat before arranging an interview. I was caught very of guard, but it all seemed to go fine so a lot of research for me tomorrow.
I’ve spent the whole day preparing for the interview, after the laptop had a meltdown I spent the whole morning re-installing and troubleshooting, it’s finally working, had lunch and then spent the 3 hours going through interview ideas, checking my work and theirs. Will spend another 90 mins this evening to make sure I am confident; wish me luck, it’s been a long time.
Leftover Chinese was both lunch, and also part of tea with freezer tetris that turned out to be reduced bbq chops to grill.
The birds started coming right up to the door asking for grub so filled up all the feeders.
Honestly, we would not have survived since Weds without freezer stock as everything has been either freezer to oven, or tin to pan.

Pleasures for Monday
Scan at hospital revealed ds2 swollen foot is not DVT but fluids. Good news, but we had to wait 2 hours after scan to be told this.
Need to sell my car for a 5 door, checking documents and realised my licence had expired in November.
After paying another £9.35 for 1 item on prescription opted for a prepayment certificate, it’s so expensive to be under the hospital,
good friends who have helped me
Tea was pork stir fry, have definitely cracked the marinade9 -
Good morning. Another beautiful red sky.
Frith - oh heck. Now a series of medical appointments looms! But another brilliant GP to thank for seeing you so quickly and being so thorough
P Kitten - fingers crossed for your interview. All that intensive prep will surely help.
Topsy - Good news that the foot is not a serious problem. Ever onwards....
Yesterday was a good day
Yoga in the morning. Moved very gently and felt much better after. No sciatica flares.
Home. Quick shower and change and off to the Wildlife Park to take advantage of our newly purchased membership - and the glorious sunny weather.
Had lunch in the cafe and then strolled for ages. Got as far as the giraffes then another coffee and strolled back. Didn't even get to the lions. Will save that for another day. We've not been since pre Covid ( I hate that that's become a watershed in our lives) so lots of new things to see. Also pleased there were a fair few folk there as I know they really struggled during lockdown.
So you'd think after exercise, fresh air, walking, good food I'd sleep like a top. Not so! Been awake since 4!
Happy 🌞day everyone7 -
Best of luck for the job interview PK 🤞
Rough night so getting up was hard, a pot of coffee helped.
The usual Monday chores, food shopping and home to make bread, do washing etc.
Lunch then over to the yard, there are currently 3 closed roads between home and the stables which makes for a rather convoluted journey but at least the numerous pot holes are being sorted.
Worked girlie in the school over poles and she was a treasure. I was bemoaning lack of fitness with friend and she called it by saying she can either trot or talk but definitely not both!
Salmon fish cakes for tea, with baked sweet spud and green veg. We tested brain cells with Uni Challenge then shed a few tears over Ambulance.7 -
Morning all, glorious blue skies and sunshine here.
Good luck, PK, everything crossed for you.
Pretty quiet here but some nice pleasures along the way:
1) Our trip to the local-ish NH castle was good, really interesting and a fab secondhand bookshop was a bonus. Chatting to a guide and they told us about another local house and gardens with a farm shop, garden centre, art gallery and museum. So...
2) We pootled over to check it out. Fabulous place, house currently closed and we didn't have a lot of time to investigate so will definitely return. Some gorgeous and reasonable handmade glassware - will make fab presents, and delicious goodies in the farm shop. Another lovely place to add to our list, so glad we moved here as it's great fun finding all these new to us day trips.
3) Naturally, the last Happy Valley. No more to be said in case of spoilers but, goodness, the acting was sublime and I'm so glad it didn't just tail off. Have now gone back to the beginning and watched episodes 1 & 2 from Series 1. Such clever writing as already it is linking to the last couple of episodes. Bit easier to watch second time round too!
4) The wasted space bathroom in the big house that we've converted into a bedroom is finally finished. All plastered and painted, new window and the carpet was fitted yesterday. Have to take my hat off to my menfolk, they are very capable and as my bairn is a bit of a perfectionist like me it is done to a very high standard, very proud of them both. We knew when we came here it would take a lot of work to knock it into shape but it's really coming on now considering a lot of the work has been behind the scenes, knocking stuff down and so on.
5) Had a big chat with hubby to clear the air and feel much better now. Bless him, he totally has my best interests at heart but sometimes his idea of my best interests doesn't fit with mine! He thinks that, now I don't have the oldies to look after and the house is sold and done with, I should be getting out and about and 'enjoying myself'. I feel that, for now, I just want to 'be' - I am beyond exhausted mentally and emotionally, it's so lovely just to have time to be quiet and to aimlessly potter. He had seen this as me being bored and unhappy and was trying to fix it but I don't need the pressure to 'do' anything and the big pleasure is that, until I am ready, I can just give myself some time and space and just 'be' - I don't need fixing!!
So now I'm off to do a bit more nothing much, there's coffee to be made and a chair by the window, that'll do me just fine for the next hour or so. Hope your day goes well.
