1. So it has happened, all-age congregation nearing 200, all so much touched by this one person and her family. Our beloved S's last service this morning, with husband J at organ and choir singing under his direction, an extra surprise for her! First reading from Rev.Dr Professor G, whose own call came because of S. G was Deputy Chief Medical Officer for England then. She is still at South Brent, where many of us went for her induction, including S and J, of course. If this sounds jumbly, from S's final address/sermon today, 'the errors and omissions are my human ones.'
Again, how we will miss her.....
Village hall farewell and refreshments after. Memories book had a long queue, everyone wanting to add their own.🤲🙏🤝✍️❤💞💝💔❤️🩹
2. & managed only 5 NoMoreBooks today, Pk,😁. They're in the 2nd church in a single churchyard, now a conservation and concert space - with boxes of books for sale😗😙😘. Icy walk back up to Meriva, still going,🤞, under blue sky with sun.
3. Tigers and Saracens Academy match went ahead at Peacock HQ at last minute anyway, unbeknownst to &, even after Preview went online! So, rugby, raffle, unveiling of Women’s Captains Board, raffle, booked luncheon, raffle, Women’s 1st XV rugby - WON and won well!, still raffling, Men's Nomads v Diss - another great win, more raffling, then The Draw. Great atmosphere and fun in the room, as always. Happy winners. Mr Music necessarily playing Sweet Caroline more than once😁. 1st XV returned after tight away victory and ground changed after they'd arrived! Everyone, from babes in arms to ancients, happily dancing, happily singing, family-friendly variants on beer pong and everyone enjoying themselves. All our matches were won yesterday and Colts today, in big away tourney, 53-7.👏👏👏
4. Right now and last night, double hwbs. As per Frith, may redo at some point. OK for now.🙂
5. Latest marmalade underway. 36hr soak done. Now 'bring slowly to boil, 1 hr. Remove from heat. Leave overnight', as per old NZ Aunt Daisy recipe. Following it after a fashion, &'s usual way😁. Finish tomorrow.

So much icy meriva scraping necessary, before/during/after, day and night.

Oz Open tennis listening soon. Ridiculous time scheduling with shabby excuses. As long as someone sees djokovic off, & will be content. It is her sole round ball sport.
Haven't heard latest forecast, but care, warmth and safety to you all.

Tomorrow's other big task - somehow restore 10 days' lost pics.😖😓
Heresy to many, doubtless, but & feels more loss re: David Crosby than Jeff Beck. RIP both.

The sibling holiday sounds wonderful Highdays, would suggest that feeling happy & confident in a dress means far more than any price tag.
For yesterday,
An earlyish start and on the road by 9am.
The journey went quickly, much helped by listening to the Archers omnibus, DID and then Just a minute, small dog snoozing happily on the back seat with just a comfort break at Blyth services.
She was immensely excited to see two of her favourite people, DSS and lovely gf, lots of catching up and Christmas presents exchanged!
They had booked a table for late lunch at local pub, great atmosphere and even better food, they were even dog friendly, what’s not to like.
Said a reluctant goodbye and drove home, entertainment provided by match commentary and this was particularly entertaining https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/b07grp8f

For yesterday
1. A lie in.
2. Went for a walk with DH. It was cold but so pleased we went out.
3. A lovely sunset - always reminds me of friend of DS2 who, at age of about 14, saw a sunset and said it makes life worth living.
4. Met friends for a meal. Great to catch up as hadn't seen them in a while. Free drink in the restaurant too.
5. Good journey home.
Disappointed that in last 16 of European cup we are playing in South Africa for second time this season. It does mean that there will be little away support and seems wrong.8 -
How is South Africa in the European cup?
Mind you Australia was in the Eurovision Song Contest !
good day at DS yesterday despite driving in fog and -3to -5 yesterday.

1 Phoned up to try and get 2 ferrets booked in for neutering, and microchipping, it’s months wait so booked in and said if you get a cancellation we are game. My heart always worries now booking what is in theory a standard procedure, as we were devasted once and it sticks with you.
2 A possible job in the pipeline, wait and see.
3 I started writing again today, I did a course that was supposed to be inspiring the last week of Dec, but well quite frankly it wasn’t.
4 Took the leap and joined up to a gym for use of their exercise classes and I think it’s in walking distance as well so it’s all exercise.
5 A very lovely hotel Chocolat delivery, probably linked to number 4….

Hurrah for hot water bottles indeed DFV just filled mine up! Never really bothered with them that much but kept a couple from mums ( that were just bought last winter) and now the threat of overnight frost is over for a few nights at least I’m not keeping heating on overnight. So myself and my hot water bottle have just retired to bed!Well hurrah for work being over and done with. Bit crazy yesterday and less so today. Today has been a nice day with nice colleagues. Tips a bit atrocious but more than I had yesterday morning!I’m currently in a reading mood ( comes and goes) so had sat on Saturday and just read and read and yesterday morning after the doggy walk but before work I just read as much as I could before I really had to go. And all I could think of all day was I want to go home and finish that book! So I did!Chaps came over after I’d finished work today to offer advice about a job I want doing. So I need to see what I want then they’ll measure up and get started. So over to me then!Popped into a friend yesterday to drop some things off for her friend who needed help with fitting out a new to them home. I was happy to share ( declutter!) there’s a nice gap where they once were!Had chicken for dinner with mashed potatoes and broccoli and peas. Rather nice. And of course cuddles with my doggy. I miss you too!9

Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Good to get up, after no sleep.
2) Tidied up.
3) Off to English lesson in the afternoon. 5 people in my group today and I ended up speaking French, German, 2 words of Arabic and English. I took some books too and have only just remembered that I left them in the class room and didn't actually put them upstairs on or the book borrowing table or anywhere else sensible!
4) Had a pot of tea in M and S.
5) Another English teacher is coming here tomorrow to help me with some bathroom repairs.
The mid life crisis continues. Am in bed with 2 hwb.
