@Frith - you have had so much trouble with the educational authorities with Younger Son. I'm keeping my eyes crossed for you (an old Kentucky area saying - supposed to be stronger than fingers.) Wishing you good luck this time.10

I’ve been like that with my current books Mhags, reading at every opportunity and just finished the second one in the series as per #4
For yesterday,
Not quite as heavy a frost and icy so equine girlie had a full day out in her field.
Changed the bed, tackled Mount Ironmore and made a loaf.
Made a phone call on behalf of BF Network.
After a busy old week decided on a quiet afternoon at home and did a lot of reading interspersed with drinking tea & eating biscuits.
Booked a holiday for September, not OS I know but the cottage looks smashing online and with a big garden for small dog plus it’s an area that we’ve been wanting to explore for some time.8 -
Good morning, frosty but sunny here, just lovely.
Blimey, Lainey, you are cracking on with Shardlake!
Pleasures for the last couple of days:
1) Still got a nasty cold and hacking cough, but nothing pressing and the jobs list will still be there when we feel better. Am fine pottering but get tired quickly, hubby is a day ahead of me and getting some energy back so we are on the mend.
2) Some good reading from the latest crop of library books (none match up to Lainey's current reading, though). A treat in store as I am determined to follow in her footsteps - a pleasure deferred but hopefully not for long!
3) Bits of admin done following the sale of mum's house. Thank you's and flowers, wine and chocs sent as various people went above and beyond to get us over the finishing line. The pleasure is how pleased and touched they were at our appreciation.
4) Not been actively looking as such but my new lounge bay needed some occasional chairs. We have been making do with a couple of odd chairs as I wasn't sure what I wanted. Yesterday randomly spotted just the very thing whilst buying something else, brought it home and tried it - just perfect - and will order a second one today. The room looks so much more 'finished'. One of them will become my new reading chair.
5) Bought eldest grandson a student cook book as one of his stocking fillers. He rocked in with a list of ingredients he needs to make his first dish, so lemon chicken with basmati rice is on the menu for tomorrow night. Yum!
Hope you all enjoy your Saturday and have some sunshine where you are.

and for today

I wanna be in the room where it happens8 -
Hello. Not quite bedtime but I’m up in my bedroom!Well, I woke up at 6.40am which is very late for me!Had to be up and at ‘em for internet chap coming between 8-1. He came about 9.30am and was very nice thought my dog was about 2 years old…er, he’s 8.5! Daft doggy boy loves a fuss!New internet connected ( hurrah!) and linked to telly. I don’t watch a lot on my telly but it will be easier now if I want to. ( usually use catch up on iPad)
Went to far end of town shops and got a couple of new lampshades. Then tkmax for a couple of fripperies! Then big supermarket for cans of caffeine free and Haggis for Tuesday tea.Home and balanced precariously ( according to my brain…I actually had to tell myself in an out loud voice I was not going to fall down the stairs) and changed the light fitting. Looks much better.
Sat and read. Started a new book and more than half way through and that’s what I’m going to do now ( that’s the plan I may fall asleep!) and alarm set for early o’clock and back to work. Zoom went the days off as usual!)10 -
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Pottered around then made bacon sandwiches for breakfast.
3) Went to the football. A draw in the end. I will attach a photo of the conditions. The game should have been stopped, really.
4) A McDonalds for tea.
5) Went to my sister's briefly to drop my niece's birthday present off.
6) In bed now (temporarily) with 2 hwb as it was -1 at the football and I am thawing out!
7) Hopefully Casualty will be on later.

@Frith - we've had a couple of American Football games played under conditions like that. They were being broadcast on TV and even the newscasters couldn't see what was happening on the field. One has been called the Snow Bowl game ever since - they couldn't even find the line markings on the field when the newscaster was down on field level. They never call the games because of weather. On the other hand, baseball games are called on the first sign of possible thunder storms as the players could get zapped while out on the field. And those games are called off if the rain gets too bad. They have to be called off in the event of fog because no one can find the ball!9

pleasures for last few days
quiz last night ,hard but my team came 3rd out of about a dozen ,we’ve never won this one ,this was the best we’ve achieved
Out for coffee / tea cake with friend’s this morning ,becoming a regular Saturday thing
,wander round farm shop ,bought some birthday cards ,
friends husband said I’ve lost weight ,lovely man ,but I actually think he needs new glasses as the scales don’t agree with him!
Went to funeral yesterday and disconcerted to be greeted by the undertaker ,he’d ‘done’ DH last year ! Almost felt he was measuring me up !Was a lovely service for a very formidable lady ,who wasn’t a close friend but was more than just an acquaintance.
Freezing here all day ,supposed to be driving v early tomorrow ,to watch a grandson play football 60 miles each way and freezing fog predicted !DS thinks match will be called off ,so will go later to see them as DS was 46 during last week and DGS will be 14 during next week .How do they get so old when I don’t feel any different really.
take care all10 -
Frith, you reminded me of the baklava we were once gifted from people we used to ferret sit for, I’ve not tried a UK batch.
1 I was poorly last night it came on out of the blue, but the pleasure is I haven’t woken up poorly.
2 I went through the freezer drawers to sort them out and put bits together.
3 DH has dug the sewing machine back out to make ferret hammocks, and the various boxes of material gathered through the years, there’s a fair bit of cussing going on at the bobbin winder.
4 Leftover C0stco “artisan” pizza.
