Pleasures for today (Thursday)

1) Not a bad sleep - hoorah!

2) Did plenty of Arabic. I did so much writing that, when writing the definition of something in English, I wrote it backwards and back to front!

3) Had a cup of tea in M and S.

4) Looking forward to Winterwatch later.

I will save the 5th for another day. A pleasant day here, just unexciting!

Pleasures for yesterday

1. Plumber finished, for now
2. a glorious walk in the park with friend and - bonus - neither of us fell over on the icy bits
3. Lunch in a cafe
4. made a fish pie
5. watched a film with OH

Night all - i'm shattered.

Up early and out with doggy before the birds were even up this morning. Was nice and quiet and crunchy frost underfoot.

Quiet morning then realised no one else was going to paint doorframes so did first coat. There are seven doors on my top landing! 

Then doggy and I jumped in the car, he had a quick walk, I nipped into supermarket for vegetables. 

Filled car up with petrol. Posted a letter to DD1. 

Home and did second coat of paint. Watched something then did first coat of skirting boards. Thankfully not much of that to do as it’s mainly blooming doors! 

Made sausage casserole with dumplings and cabbage and broccoli for tea. 

Second coat of skirting done. 

Hung a vintage style poster I’d got in Australia…it’s been waiting on painting being done. Hoovered and all looks much brighter…next job is staircase but waiting on a particular paint to do that. 

Friend called.

1 Hoovered the whole house, then I vaxxed. Cleared all those bits and bobs away and cleaned up the oven.

2 Bread ends and salad, with the most amazing rtc bit of ham for lunch, for dinner I set to making a korma curry from scratch full of hopefully good for us things, garlic, turmeric etc and cooked up extra brown rice for tomorrow's dinner.

3 Popped out to Costco yesterday, renewed the membership and thou we are working hard at depleting stock, I still ended up buying 2 things I thought we had run out of but hadn’t which is a tad annoying, in money terms it cost us £9, thankfully thou one is dried cous cous which will keep no doubt, and the other can be portioned up and frozen. Just annoying when I’m making progress clearing bits down.

4 A few books ordered and ahem not mse but half price so err ish, some Hotel Chocolate bits I use to bake and make hot choc with.

5 Enjoyed having lunch and watching the various numerous birds in the garden, starlings, robins, blue and long tailed’s and blackbirds scampering about.

Purple kitten - congratulations only getting 2 things you didn't need at Costco! (I go in armed with a list, a plan, & a son for conscience & - I am weak.)

Family tree climbing going Boom, as I'm getting better at pushing possibilities - even wringing information from Linked In!

Aunt floated the idea of scattering rose petals on top of dad's ashes - saw it done & mum likes the idea. All in agreement - long may it last!

Team meeting supposed to be face to face but actually digital as even the 2 in the office couldn't find (and hold) a meeting room... Rest of us shared snow & ice photos, recalled holiday antics (kids these days are Missing Out, we reckoned) & got the work sorted. 

Sister in cast greeted me waving a pill - she was ready to be seen taking her calcium supplement! Still grousing at the weight of the cast as we do family physio but 40 seconds devoted to balance daily is actually handy on ice!

Son on nights accepted my offer of clearing his car (he'd cleared mine a few days ago) & I was amused to find that though today has been cold, there wasn't extra snow or ice, so his car was rubbed clear in seconds, and warmed for him!

Health strength love & courage to all as have need & please step carefully, stay healthy?

1) walking to work gorgeous sun-light behind me as I came up the hill - felt bathed in love
2) colleague brought in some teacakes (those marshmallow chocolate ones not the toasted ones)
3) lunch with a colleague - yummy toastie and lovely catch-up
4) then coffee with another one - he's going for an interview (internal) and very keen he does well
5) mum made very nice supper using up fridge fodder which made up for working till 7:30 then church meeting online 7:30 to 9:30
still managed to muster some energy to do my 23 minutes declutter - office still has lots of bags and boxes to sort but making progress and now seems doable

1. Ds2 making progress 
2. Single bed ordered for makeshift bedroom area for Ds2 on his hopefully soon release from hospital.
3. Good journeys to and from Hospital. 

4. Support from work 
5. Home made soup taking in flask & pastie taken as a pack up.

Good morning.  

Topsy - so glad things are progressing smoothly for DS.  It'll be good to have him home where you can keep an eye on him!


We've had lovely sunny days lately.  Freezing, of course, but so much better than all the rain and greyness.

Didn't go out until about 2 pm yesterday and windscreen was still iced over.  Thought I'd avoided that by planning a late meet!

Was meeting a friend for coffee.  She should have had a long awaited hip replacement operation on Wednesday.  Arrived at the hospital at 7 am to be told the op was cancelled.  The surgeon is ill! She was so disappointed, as you can imagine.  So it's back to waiting for a new date.

Still sorting out cupboards and collecting things for the charity shop.  DH tried to tackle the 'tech'  cupboard.  Think we need to research what to do with old phones/ tablets. For now, they're back in the cupboard!

For yesterday,

Took the back roads way to town, then realised roads very slippery!  Took it easy and all ok.

Met my friend for a coffee and picked up a couple of bits for the weekend.

An Ebay purchase arrived, warm cosy PJ bottoms, lovely.

Over to see my girlie, gave her attention and left her snug as a bug in her stable. Driving home and there was still some light in the sky, the days are markedly lengthening now.

Bit of sad news received re elderly pal so a lovely cuddle from Capt S.
