1. Dropped further en route back! Bitter out, but hwb toes now
2. An uproarious and joyous 'In and Out of the Kitchen' this morning. 'The Birthday'.....oh dear, read on:
'Damien rents a narrowboat for a weekend cruising around the heart of England with Anthony, his producer friend Marion Duffett, his parents, Janet and Dennis, his agent Ian, and his builder, Mr Mullaney. He hopes to relax but also ease tensions between Mr Mullaney and Anthony, who aren't getting on well following an Anthony-induced hiccup in their newly formed property business. But canalling isn't always as easy as it looks... Sitcom charting the life of cookery writer Damien Trench, who lives in London's Queen's Park with his partner Anthony

3. Perfect emporium timing - all pâtisserie, specialty breads and wotnottery, rtc 5p!!! Convivial sharing among very few of us, with & taking bounteous drop-off shares for ill Uni friend and several birds with broken wings. All done and welcome.
4. An off-game, not on song, lacking match-play Rafa🥰won!.....with phew! and courage and suffering against a terrific young Jack Draper, likeable, also suffering.
He'll be a worthy successor one day, but for this year, & has to get Rafa through. Especially, the vile djok. must be dispatched. For &, he is the round🎾 ball equivalent of 🏉Farrell, two equally nasty pieces of work, both cheats, both dirty players, both equally loathed by &.
5. Amazing starry night, just stunning and Orion's belt spectacularly glittering.

Oh topsyturphy🤲 - what a shock! ds will be safely and very well cared for there, could well be under immediate care of R's team.🙏

Lainey, dd - we lost the remarkable, dear and venerable D.R. of Scotsdales yesterday. 'He just didn't wake up this morning' was midday message from B.R.>&. Yes, a splendid age and life to match, but the shock in the congregation at his name in prayers earlier, all of us in HC just a few hundred yards away and very few hours on, was palpable. DR and & had an extraordinary first meeting, which remained a source of high amusement between us and within the R. family. He was generous and successful, as the family will continue, via much, much else - including supporting cancer research, old age care and quality of life. Other great involvement and sponsorship, active ongoing support, interest, involvement, coaching and playing from the family, has always been straight over the road from Scotsdales, across to the Davey Field and Peacock HQ. The airfield museum, innovative cancer respite and long-established, imaginative support all saw the light of day and happened because of D.R.
Of course, yes - he was a great and successful businessman, beneficial landowner and one-off in the best of ways, but all the more so for being completely unconcerned about ancient random clothing, rag-tag and bobtail appearance, ancient wrecked vehicles as mode of transport, but always deeply interested in his employees and all who crossed his path.🙏🤲🤝RIP D.R.

Topsyturphy hoops your son has a speedy recovery. Sounds like he is having excellent care.
Ampersand totally agree about Farrell and djok
1. Messaged a friend.
2. A patient at work who is lovely and one I look forward to seeing.
3. Department meeting at work. Some decisions were made. Very unusual.
4. Made fish pie for tea.
5. Only Connect.
DH came in from work and spent all evening doing some invoicing which suited me. I may talk to him today about the wedding.10 -
Good morning. Minus 6!!
Oh Topsy Turphy how frightening. Sending love and hugs to you, and very gently to DS.
DfV - sugar bowl lurking behind desk? Very intriguing.
Well, I didn't get to yoga after all. The Return of the Vertigo!. Not the hanging on to the side of the bed type, thankfully, but the ' not really wise to drive and even less to do down dog" type. So a day of very little and much thinking.
Leftover chicken and bean stew with bubble and squeak for tea. Leftovers are king in this house!
Now trying to decide on my next project. Think I'll use the leftover wool ( that word again) to make a hat. Will crochet quickly before the cold spell ends.
Happy frosty day everyone10 -
Sending positive vibes for a speedy recovery for DS TopsyT scary stuff indeed.
That is sad re DR Ampersand
For yesterday,
Monday so off to horsey town for provisions, big string heading up to the gallops for exercise.
Early lunch then headed off to the yard as girlie was seeing the farrier, only I’d got the time wrong and was an hour early 🙄 oh well gave her a fuss, chatted to fellow owners and generally tried not to get too cold! Pleasure is this yard has a warm kitchen where you can make a cup of tea and have a five minute break from the weather.
Horse was her usual well behaved self and stood quietly as her hooves were trimmed.
Bit of a mishmash tea, officially it was a goats cheese gnocchi bake but much more actually went in.
Swapped out small dog’s blanket and put a thicker one on her bed, she likes to be covered up on winter nights.

Good morning.
TopsyTurphy - oh no! Sending best wishes for a speedy recovery, he is in the best place for now and you take care, a big shock for both of you.
Some pleasures here:
1) Lovely crisp, frosty and sunny day and I've noticed just this week that the nights are starting to draw out a bit.
2) DH and I are both full of cold, still at the sneezy, shivery and headachy stage, the pleasure being we have no choice but to rest and relax and unwind a bit - much needed!
3) Some good current releases from the library to while away the time.
4) Plenty of Christmas treats squirreled away in the freezer so easy but scrummy meals and a well-stocked fruit bowl makes for a healthy-ish balance with minimal effort.
5) Caught up on Happy Valley and marvelled at the acting, Sarah Lancashire is brilliant. Had me in tears though as I can remember too easily a massive betrayal left me reeling and screaming out loud in my car in a car park in the middle of the night many years ago and she took me right back there. Phenomenal acting on her part.
Go steady if you have 'weather' in your part of the country, stay warm - I'm finding it hard to have much sympathy for son in Mexico telling me that the sand is too hot to walk on barefooted and the sea is like a warm bath. Hmph!!!

TT - hope son recovers quickly.

topsyturphy - that must have been Very Bad, but DS2 is now in the right place, for some time & despite getting there <heave in a deep breath?> all Will be better. Hit the charity shops for a capsule wardrobe of what the well dressed young chap in a cast (& graduating to crutches) is wearing - trousers you can slice the inside leg seam without tears & an assortment of gloves? And lay in the sharpie & chisel markers, & the vivid nail colours (stripes, so capillary refill time can still be checked)ampersand - yes, very chilly so much enjoying brooch, rocks & delighted congrats at spreading emporium delights around. Ow - so sorry to hear D.R. "just didn't wake up".villagelife - decisions made?! What Did you put in the tea?!Happycas - desk for working from home occupies space under which I stack tins of tomatoes, cooking oil, things bought for the storecupboard & the lads have learned to forage before declaring "We need to buy"... Enjoy creating the hat!LaineyT - a warm kitchen is a very precious space on a day like this.Highdays - Christmas treats are definitely called for in these temperatures - that or a tickets out to verify son's assertions re:sand & sea!VJsmum - argh to come home to no heat or hot water! But today to be able to line dry stuff...OS Pleasures todayJust deciding, teeth bared & ears clamped back, that I am going to make a good clear loving job of the reading at my father's memorial.Got car cleared, inside & out, then got to meet with colleagues all as agreed, to find our plans were scuppered by others.Got home to a big hot mug of tea & thought how lucky I am. The lads really take Such good care of me!Watching some very good singers both working & playing, & having a definite kimono moment. Oh those basses...YS pizza for me later. Several laters in fact- I really ought not to eat a family sized one all by myself in one sitting. (Other pizza for the lads who like a custom build.)Health Strength Love & Courage to all as have need, deep warm restful restorative sleep likewise & if you find a stiff brandy & bout of tears easier, I'll not argue.8

Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Good to get up, after a poor sleep. I spent the night listening to James O'Brien Full Disclosure podcasts. Matthew Parris' was surprisingly good.
2) Did a load of washing and pottered around tidying up.
3) Went to the medical centre to get smaller son's fit note. The notorious huge assessment is on Friday, to see if he is still disabled or if something miraculous has happened...
4) Sat in the car afterwards and had a phone call with a chatty lady. I am going to be put on the list to pop round and help refugee families locally. I think there are 5 (I did take notes but they are downstairs). This will be different from the usual guys in that these are families with children in houses locally. It should start in February,
5) Went to the football club again to try and pick up the clothes that should be waiting there. Still not there! I'm going to leave it for now.
6) Had a pitta for lunch in the Greek restaurant.
7) Went on to canal town as the parking is better for the run of charity shops! Found an M and S dressing gown, which is great as mine dated from 2008 and was literally falling apart! Also a pack of brand new juggling balls for £1.
8) On to floody town, which was quite a drive, as it is flooded and the bridge was still shut! Another round of charity shops and I got a book of Syrian recipes for £2 then a "Beryl" jug for my sister for £1.
9) Home and my brother popped in. Has anyone on the thread travelled the US by train? He will be starting off in New York. My cousins live in NY, Boston and Miami but he also fancies going West, close to (or possibly including) Canada.
10) Bigger son popped in after work and is staying at his girlfriend's tonight. Smaller son is in a good mood and we had 20 minutes of throwing juggling balls at each other across the house!
11) Made kebabs and rice for tea. In bed now and watching Winterwatch.10
