5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3
Comments
-
1. Feeling much better.
2. Chat with my Mum on the phone.
3. Enjoyed cooking Turkey and ham pie and some put in the freezer.
4. Booked a couple of days away in February. Something to look forward to as Christmas didn't really happen here.
5. Quiet evening and lit candles.8 -
At last, & has fully charged mob., new screen protector and spare charging lead.
Back went & to phone fixing place in Town of Horse. Yet more bus palaver over last 2 days.
1. Explained all to new young man. & was cross. Transpires new phone shop is his, not previous older man's! All re-sorted, replaced free of charge over next several hours while & trawled several CSs to pass the time young owner needed. Realise this osp is a messy and confusing read.....😁
2. In EACH, a wonderful basket of French and Italian silk kerchiefs are just 50p each! Bought 10.
3. Using a hand-made spoon, Frith,😃, a happy pan of what has always been called 'nursery mince' is cooking gently.😋 Many fine use-ups therein and it will be lovely on toast or with baked potato.
4. There aren't many Lily O'Brien chocs left in the box from oldest Northern hemisphere Uni friend.😁😋🤩 Has anyone else had them? & has noted their price previously....Oh my goodness! Such a treat!
5. More bus to Town of Gown JLP, for safety toy eyes, only to find their haberdashery no longer stocks them. Madly busy and massive reductions. People were filling trolleys with Christmas dec.s and trees! & has 2 beautiful diffuser sets, lovely all year round, and a couple of extras.😁

A best-for-last bit of good news, although at a remove.🙂 & seems to have sorted the re-homing of our retiring Vicar's chickens and cockerel within the Peacock Rugby Club family! They will join others, living very rurally but safe from foxes, which can be a problem round here.
Villagelife and Lainey, just take care and no rushing back to 'normal' anytime soon.

Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) A lie in.
2) Smaller son is a bit better after waking hourly through the night with his cough. He still has a high temperature but the zappy nerve pains have gone and he has just got out of bed.
3) I sorted through the over the top Sainsburys order and made a list for each day! This morning I made a very decent shepherds pie.
4) I have ordered myself a cookbook. I never use them (always look online) but this one was tempting.
5) I phoned an estate agents and will be looking round a potential house on the 3rd. It was the same man who saw me twice when I looked round the other house. He said, "I can't fit you in this year", which sounded dramatic until I remembered there are only 3 days left.
6) I sorted out the wardrobe and smaller son had a cull of hoodies that are too tight for him. They can go to the asylum seekers as they are not worn. Also tidied up and cleaned the bathroom.
7) Bigger son reappeared in the afternoon and said he was taking some friend to the Clee Hill summit for some fresh air and made a large flask of tea ready for them.
8) Looking forward to Travel Man at 8pm.7 -
Hello. A very quiet day today. Up early with doggy then dozed off again, could hear DD2 having her breakfast ( she was back at work today) and had to rouse myself enough to say don’t listen to the dog, he’s been fed!
Really not done much. Hung up a washing after folding the dry stuff. Cleaned my bathroom. Took out recycling. Put a fire on. Mainly sat in front of it and watched stuff on my iPad. Made cheese scones in airfryer. Had pate on toast for tea. It’s mainly lashed with rain.8 -
Exciting Frith, everything crossed you find your dream house soon
So here we are, twixmas where every day merges into another and i can't remember much about any except I am really enjoying every day. So here's 5
1) turkey left-overs - soup yesterday and curry today
2) watching His Dark Materials with mum (2 yesterday, 2 today, thinking we'll do 2 tomorrow then finish on Saturday)
3) getting the boys' hair cut - bit matted as couldn't get them in December - will liaise with DD2 and book them in in February
4) football at my local bop - watched Luton with the plumber at Mennies and another fabulous win
5) getting my cousin's funeral order of service - it was back in April and very sadly couldn't make it - lovely surprise today getting the service sheet with a Christmas card from his widow. They started with The Lark Ascending, a particular favourite of mine, and had a beautiful poem. I shed a tear (he died on his 57th birthday but he had defied the odds after his initial C diagnosis to enjoy a few more years) and it was lovely to think about him.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Good morning.
Lainey, Village Life - I hope you're both well enough to enjoy any New Year's Eve plans.
S Sue, Frith - I had never even heard of iced Christmas cake until I left home ( and Yorkshire) aged 18. We had naked , home made cake with Wensleydale cheese. And so did everyone I knew! I still don't like iced cake but that's mainly because I don't like marzipan I think.
Since Boxing Day
After two very busy family days we've had two (three?? Who knows!) very chilled days
Started a jigsaw. It's very tricky. Could be next Christmas before it's finished.
Had a haircut. Very neat for the new year!
Sorted out some admin bits.
Picked out a new recipe from my Christmas present book to try but need cannellini beans so will have to wait until after next supermarket trip.
Lazed about reading or watching tv. Might have eaten the odd chocolate or mince pie
Happy whatever day (I'm totally lost) everyone8 -
For yesterday,
Pottering around doing some bits & pieces, made a loaf and stripped the chicken, small dog had the plate as usual.
Filled up the bird feeders and cleaned out the water.
Over to see my pony, she was happy enough after a day in out in the winter sunshine.
Home and a comforting bowl of salmon & fennel pasta.
Glass of wine and a few games of Yahtzee.

Not much done here. I feel ok but still feel tired.
1. Spoke with DS1 on the phone.
2. Chilled upfront of tv.
3. Spoke with a neighbour.
4. Some tidying of house done.
5. Finished my book.6 -
Hello. Bit chilly in rest of the house but I’m cosy where I’m sitting with the fire on.Up early and out with doggy. We were absolutely soaked! It was lashing with rain. And has lashed most of the day.
Ventured into the garage, filled up my wee car with stuff and went to tip, sorted out some boxes that had mum stuff in them. Suitably piled into recycle, bin, pass on and the occasional keep. Phoned charity shop to check that they are open tomorrow and have a pile of stuff to go out. Friend picked up some stuff for her.Sent mums NDN a text to see if she needed anything at supermarket so got them and walked round to drop them off was on for an hour or so. Was thankfully dry when walking.Dog cuddles.
Friend popped by to pick up stuff. Such a relief that it’s leaving my space!7 -
Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Smaller son still waking up every so often to cough. He has eaten a banana so far today. He is getting better but the cough is getting worse!
2) Bigger son came home and made chicken wings.
3) My new book arrived (not quite as exciting as I thought it would be).
4) Bigger son and I went to look at the potential house from the outside then had a pitta bread and cup of tea at the Greek cafe. We then went to 2 charity shops and I dropped some stuff off there.
5) Did plenty of Arabic today.
6) Made a lamb casserole but will have to freeze it as there are no takers.8
