For yesterday,
Still coughing so made the sad decision not to visit DB and family, would not wish this horrible cough on my worst enemy let alone my loved ones, definitely not a pleasure but for the best.
Sent Capt S off to the emporium with a list, we are now fully stocked with fresh f & v plus a bottle of Limoncello that he got for a surprise, yum.
Over to see pony, apparently she had been doing zoomies around her field and having a fine old time.
Easy tea of cold meat & HM pot wedges followed by mince pie & cream.
We are enjoying the festive episodes of Only Connect & UC.9 -

1. Still faint positive line but day 6 and feeling ok. Government guidelines say I can go out but hospital guidelines says can't work. Decided I could go to rugby. Mask worn too.
2. Slow, slow journey to rugby had to be by car as no trains. Would not have gone on train. Got there eventually and saw some of Ladies match. We won.
3. Men's match we lost.
4. Much quicker journey home.
5. Leftovers for tea.8 -
Hello everyone, resolutely stayed off my laptop over Christmas which had the plus of a rest from emails but the minus of missing out on wishing you all a happy Christmas. Which I do now albeit 3 days late. I have caught up on your pleasures and your poorlies. I swear we have enough food to last till Lent! For Christmas
1) put the turkey crown on before we went to church, which was lovely, then home for stockings and cooking the veg
2) very traditional and not over-expensive stockings for all 3 of us (let you into a secret, i did all three 😉)
3) friends arrived for lunch at 2 - delicious, lots of laughter, lots of scrummy food
4) boxing day watched the Leicester game with Dr M (not good result for Dr M) then the Liverpool game with Mr G (Dr M had gone home as cold breaking) then amazingly got the Luton match on the main bar tv (Arsenal playing on the other 2 tvs) - nail-biting and we won - bit peckish by the time I got home, full christmas dinner at 10 reheated in the microwave
5) enjoying twixtmas with dog walks, scrummy food, christmas tv and football - man utd last night with mr g, city tonight with Dr M if he's feeling better) then of course Luton tomorrow at 6 (i suspect i'll be watching that one on my own!)MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Lovely doggy walk this morning. Just us and the birds. I’ve been so fortunate that our walks have been dry the past few days. We usually just get in then it pours! So much rain today!Took Christmas decorations down…hello space!!Went to next big town with DD2 , we were dropping off her chap so we did that then went for a very lovely brunch. At a dog cafe. Met a very lovely boxer. He could smell dog treats in my pocket ( a constant…that and dog poo bags 😆)
Home and haven’t done much. Hoovered and moved table back into place. Had turned it round last night for dinner and added a smaller table at the end to make room for everyone.
Had a snoozette ( having slept right through all night which is very unusual)
Just had a tin of soup for tea. Rather over eating! ( till tomorrow probably 😆)
It’s nice to have noise in the house again.9 -
MHags - I am tempted to take our decorations down too (2 up 2 down with a low ceiling so we are dancing round them) but we only put them up on the 17th and smaller son wants them up for the New Year.
SuffolkSue - I am missing royal icing on my shop bought Christmas cake. I will make my own next year.
Pleasures for today (possibly Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Posted 2 parcels which included a Christmas present which has been on my table for ages.
3) Went to Waitrose cafe, read my magazine and pootled around in there a while.
4) Did plenty of Arabic today and used my new writing book (a Christmas present from bigger son).
5) Went to pick the donated footballs up for the asylum seekers (from our football club) but they were shut! Another man was trying every door to get in as well (I was wearing the football club jumper, by chance). Had a cup of tea in M and S.
6) Bigger son and his girlfriend were here when I got home and had made chicken wings in a glaze plus hm garlic bread. Turns out I don't really like lemongrass - don't tell them!
7) A Christmas order arrived from Etsy. I ordered 3 decorations from there earlier in December and liked them so much I ordered some more as presents. I will label them and put them away for next year.
8) Sainsburys order has just arrived so I've been eating creme brulee. I said to the man that I didn't order Weetabix but he said no one would know so I could have it! We haven't eaten Weetabix in years. There will be a cooking marathon tomorrow morning as the house is now full of ingredients with some more ordered (obscure things) and my brother gave me one of the butternut squashes he had grown.
I am torn really between trying out lots of new recipes (every so often I become bored of cooking - after 30 years!) or going on the blood sugar diet in the New Year.
Smaller son is ill now (unheard of) and is clearing his throat about every 10 seconds.... I can't really say anything to him about that, but I would like to!8 -
Pleasures for today
1. Managed a dog walk in between the rain.
2. Helpful lady at the photo shop.
3. Photo printed for part of DM birthday present.
4. Chip shop fish and mushy peas. Didn’t bother with the chips.
6. Using knitting machine that my dd bought me for Christmas.9 -
For yesterday,
Another quiet day, friends & acquaintances are saying that this flu is taking 3/4 weeks to go, I’m on 13 days to date and still coughing like a line of racehorses!
A mini tidy up and did some washing.
Did order myself a couple of tops in the sales, survey money.
Got on the scales and have lost weight, first time ever for Yule!
Watched and enjoyed the newer version of Whisky Galore.

Hope you feel better soon Lainey.
Recent pleasures:
2 lazy days at home. Eating leftovers and chocolate. Watching tv, we rewatched Gordon Buchanan’s Reindeer Family and me, love it, and the latest Strike, mostly enjoyed it.
Made soup, Christmas dinner pie and turkey 🦃 curry from the leftovers and still eating the chocolate roulade. Should keep us going for a few days and there’s still mince pies!
Weve been debating whether or not to go to Blenheim at Christmas, still not decided! Tomorrow is our last chance.
Think we will go for a wander in our local park today for some fresh air and possibly a brunch roll for me although I expect OH will want a full English breakfast 🍳
Have a good Thursday all 😊8
