For yesterday,
Up early and at the yard to give Princess Pony her festive breakfast as quite rightly the yard staff get the day off, she had a leg stretch while we skipped out her bed and prepared a big hay net.
Home, bacon rolls and we listened to the Archers omnibus, followed by DID and ISIHAC, normal Sunday stuff really.
Cheese and biscuits for lunch then a walk around the field with small dog.Back over to the yard to do it all again!
Home, our festive roast will be today but we had some tasty ham with fried, sliced pots and pickles.
A quiet day and very different but fun in its own way!10 -
Good morning on a bright and clear Boxing Day.
Some pleasures from chez nous:
1) Santa came! Phew! Watched the boys open their presents, judging from their faces Santa got it right again this year and sometimes its the smallest pressies that delight the most.
2) No cooking for me, think this was a first but we are going out for Christmas Dinner today so had Christmas tea type grazing buffet and nibbles all day so a lovely, relaxed day for me, just had to unpack the fridge and set it all out. Think this just might be a new tradition, the most laid back Christmas Day ever!
3) Played games and cards with the boys, littlest grandson plays a pretty good game of Uno and won at Christmas Snap too.
4) If I say so myself the Christmas cake soaked in Amaretto was my best ever, will definitely do that in future rather than brandy. Worth a try if you have any lurking in the cupboard, can't even remember where our bottle came from but very glad I decided to use it up.
5) Lit a candle I brought back from my mum's last night, thought back over the wonderful Christmases we had when we were young.
So, a busy day in store here, out this afternoon and packing for our Loch Lomond trip tomorrow. Probably won't be back here til the end of the week so I hope you find pleasures over the rest of the festive season, a lovely time for some, a harder time for others. Think you said that far better than me, Happycas!

Pleasures for today (Boxing Day)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Bigger son reappeared and we went to Go Outdoors as he wanted to buy a new torch.
3) Smaller son and I went to Hereford to watch our team play football. We won 1-0. We (away fans) were then kept in the stadium for 10 minutes so the Hereford fans could leave as the police were worried about violence. Smaller son and I managed to restrain ourselves from attacking anyone!
4) We stopped for a pizza on the way home.
5) In bed now with 2 hwb and looking forward to the Christmas special of The Detectorists. The Ghosts special was very good last night.8 -
Pleasures for Boxing Day
1. Doggie walk in the sun, then hailstones then sun.
2. Good sleep last night
3. Butchers home made pork pies.
4. Discovered fruit cider, really nice and a bottle lasts me a long time
5. Family games & leftovers to eat.7 -
1. Feeling much better. I can move without coughing.. My head feels close to normal. It took most of the day to feel like this.
2. Spoke to a neighbour when I put something in the bin. Good to chat as felt normal.
3. Nice message from my manager. I have had to send her lateral flow results daily and yesterday was a very faint line.
4. Enjoying food. Not much of it but I wanted to eat.
5. DH looking after me.7 -
Glad to hear that you are feeling better VL.
For yesterday,
Sunshine and lots of it.
Saw a pair of Jays in the apple tree, beautiful birds.
Reading a new to me book.
Did a roast dinner except I got my timings wrong and the meat had to go back in for 30 mins so we had all the veg plus yorkshires first followed by meat & gravy!
The Detectorists special, made me want to go back and watch it all again.7 -
Morning everyone 😊
Had a good Christmas Day. OHs mum and nephew came for Christmas dinner and enjoyed the turkey 🦃 roast with all the trimmings and chocolate roulade. My son didn’t turn up though ☹️
Boxing Day at my niece’s for the first time, was the usual fun day with plenty of food and drinks 🍷, loads of presents and a silly quiz. We followed family traditions of the youngest handing out the presents, all new to my niece’s stepson. Her little family of 4 are off to Cadbury World, a surprise Christmas 🎄 present for the 2 children 😊
A quiet day today, left over food and chocolates and catch up on some tv.
Have a lovely time whatever you are doing 😊7 -
Ooo, we had been knocked to page 2. The horror!
Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) A lie in!
2) Got the house tidy and did a load of washing.
3) Went to carpet town and sat in M and S and read my magazine. Bought a very cut price Christmas cake. I won't bother again as the best bit for me is proper royal icing.
4) Bigger son and his girlfriend popped in just before tea.
5) Tasty tea of pie, mash and YS green beans. Going to have some cheese and biscuits just now.6 -
Yesterday was another day of quiet. We had snow! Didn’t do much. Walked dog. Started a book. DD2 arrived home late at night.Today has been a lovely day. Started with a lovely doggy walk. Was a tad slippy though.Baked and cooked and set a nice table. All the things I like to do.Slow cooked a ham, roasted veggies and made a lasagne and garlic bread. Then a chocolate orange cheesecake and the biggest pavlova known to man! Lots to take away.
Lots of chatter and laughter. And hundreds of dishes! Friend brought lovely flowers. She went home with cake and leftover from Christmas Day ham ( to go in her freezer)
I really didn’t like having a very empty nest on Christmas Eve/Day. Every year my mum would actively choose to have Christmas on her own and this year DD2 had the opportunity to go away and she’d said no, she wouldn’t leave me alone at Christmas and I said I’ll be fine and would never hold my children back from doing anything, so please go. And I said to my friend earlier on I do not understand why my mum would ever have chosen to be on her own. It was, for me, awful. Anyway it’s passed. I enjoyed cooking and baking and feeding my people today.Onwards…8 -
