Morning everyone. Can’t believe it’s Christmas Eve. I’ve still got the cleaning to do as I keep putting it off!
Nice lunch out with friend on Thursday at local pub. I drove there and OH walked up to drive us home, just as well as we had a bottle of red and then a large glass of red each!
Present wrapping yesterday and I finally put up the Christmas 🎄 tree in the kitchen/diner.
Plan for today is to do the cleaning!! cook the gammon, prep the veg, make the stuffing, make the chocolate roulade, wrap the last few presents etc!! OH will help a bit. Turkey is just a breast joint so will cook that tomorrow with all the roasties etc. I have already made the pigs in blankets. I’m only cooking for 5 (if son decides to turn up) but I do like everything to be a bit special. We’re just having sausage and mash and onion gravy tonight whilst watching a very old version of a Christmas Carol, which has become a bit of a tradition.
On Boxing Day we’re going to my nieces for our family get together, I’m taking a cheese platter, so no cooking. She lives in the middle of nowhere so I’m glad the snow has gone.
Have a lovely Christmas 🎄 everyone and hope you all keep well. Look forward to hearing about your Christmas doings/pleasures 😊😘🎄9 -
Enjoy your family Christmas SSue.
For yesterday,
Woke up with a returned appetite so fried egg on toast for breakfast.
Drove over to the yard, took it easy and went the back way as weather was atrocious and didn’t fancy a sneezing fit on the A road! My horse was in and dozing in her stable, long groom to get rid of all her itchy bits, she shows me what spot needs particular attention, and just generally cosseted her, lovely. Left her with a treat ball to keep her busy.
Lunch and then out to pet store for new waterproof coat for small dog. My lovely lab had the typical Teflon coat of the breed but my small girl needs a bit of help, good choice to be had and completion of a loyalty card meant money off too.A quiet afternoon, bit of reading and listening to the radio.
Long hot bath and then into my PJ’s to woke the All Creatures festive special.9 -
A quick check in.
On Thursday I tested positive for Covid. It felt like a cold Thursday morning but feeling worse since.
All Christmas plans cancelled for me but DH has been testing and working and going out!
He is less likely to get it right is out.
He enjoyed a carol service yesterday and going to watch panto today in London with sons.8 -
Oh villagelife! -
To thank your post feels so wrong. Just when an occasional thing was improving for you at work, too.....❤️🩹💔
Not the Christmas present you needed from one of your many patients.

Hello on a sunny Christmas Eve.
Villagelife - so sorry you have succumbed and your Christmas plans are cancelled. What bad luck, hope you feel better very soon, at least you will be full of antibodies. Make sure you have some nice treats when you are well again to make up for the ones you are missing now. Stay warm and rest up.
& - oh, wow, thank you for the medal, don't think I've ever been awarded one before so I will wear it with pride!
Just popped in to wish you all as merry a Christmas as you can possibly have and to thank you all for the amazing support you have shown to this newbie. I've been made to feel so welcome here, you are a lovely bunch of people and its been a privilege to share your pleasures, your ups and your downs since I came on board. It's not been the easiest of years for me but there have still been some lovely pleasures along the way and it has helped so much to be able to come and sit' here for a while among friends so thank you for having me.
Merry Christmas!

VL - get well soon. There are so many people ill by us at the moment.
Pleasures for today (Christmas Eve!) So far...
1) Not a bad sleep. Had a lovely dream about getting a Chinese takeaway then woke up to find the smell was bigger son making a bacon sandwich.
2) Got the chicken, pigs in blankets and sprouts out of the freezer. I think bigger son is doing the cooking again tomorrow. We have ready made bread sauce but he will do the roast potatoes and parnsips, carrots, peas and stuffing. I will do the Yorkshire puddings.
3) Took the family presents and lemon curds to my sister's at 12. Bigger son and his girlfriend went as well and my parents and brother. We had a buffet then trifle and opened the presents to each other. Small niece was very pleased with hers. My sister bought me some new plates (the glaze had gone really strange on our plates here so they can be demoted to going under plant pots).
4) Have done plenty of Arabic on and off during the day. The present bags were handed out to the men where we teach English at 1pm.
5) Weeded the little front garden by the road as the frost and snow had killed all the nasturtiums off and they were lying over the pavement like horrible lengths of tripe!
6) Smaller son has had his Christmas Eve pyjamas and is pleased that they have pockets.
7) I am waiting for bigger son to come home. He has watched 11 episodes of The Traitors since he came home from work yesterday (!) but we are going to watch the 12th together.
Happy Christmas, everyone!8 -
Sadly I am not a well man now. However, today is the end of Xmas Eve,and it’s been a steady day. My wife and I have had a calm time. Tomorrow and Boxing Day,the children will be here to eat ( not complicated!)along with happiness and laughs. I’ve told them I have no time to worry about anything I cannot change, and they must do the same. And they will. Proper pleasure! 👍8

Hello. Just watched the carol concert from Westminster Abbey. Now feels a bit odd as it’s just me and the doggy! Never been on my own on Christmas Eve before…ever!Anyway it’s been a people filled day.
Stripped bed this morning and yay I have remade it before bedtime. I do like clean bedding for Christmas.
The niecelys arrived a wee bit earlier than I expected. We met my friend down the woods with her grandson and had a nice walk. Gifts exchanged.Back to mine and the kids had a sleep! Yay! Think they are both hanging for something…I do not want germs thank you very much.Made cookies and decorated gingerbread.Walked to supermarket ( started raining) just for bread, mobbed it was! Walked back the long way( the short way is through a field but it was very muddy on the way there) which is past my mums. Waved in at NDN so she came to the door and we had a quick chat then walked back home.
Decorated cookies ( they had to cool) and then had a cuddle and snuggle and started watching The Snowman . Niece came to pick them up. And it was so quiet.Cracked open a box of maltesers!Chatted to SIL on phone.9 -
Sorry to hear that you are poorly VL
For today,
A decent nights sleep plus a lie-in.
Pottered around in the kitchen, roasted some nuts, make a tray of Rocky Road fridge cake and a few mince pies.
We finally got the tree up and decorated plus a few other bits around the house, at last some festive feeling!
Watched and enjoyed The boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse.
Treat of a Chinese takeaway for tea.8
