Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Had a good tidy up during the morning.
3) My school friend popped by with our Christmas presents. (And she had hers, from us!)
4) Went out to get my brother's Christmas present then had lunch in Waitrose cafe.
5) Made the annual batch of lemon curd!
6) Then made pasta sauce for several meals. Plenty in the freezer.
7) Carried on cleaning and tidying. Put the appointments (so far) in next year's new calendar.
8) Listening to our football team playing in the FA trophy. You can hear the announcer in the background and he's gone to pieces! He just said, "Oh, there's going to be some substitutes. I don't know who they are! Sorry! Merry Christmas!"8 -
Miriam's Margoyle's Christmas Carol was beautiful - highly recommend (and I too will give the £1000 box of crackers a miss!)MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Morning!My Tuesday went like this
Up at 5 with the dog, went back to bed and could not believe it when DD2 FaceTimed from a much warmer land and it was 9.45am….waaah I had so much to do which did not include a lie in!Went to B and q , how I loathe these big stores, however, I got what I needed and came home. Then into supermarket, got a load of veg and some nice treaty things ( note to self don’t eat them all at once, oops) …parsnip mountain will be starting all over again! Will peel and parboil and freeze.
And operation get the spare room(DD1) decorated whilst DD2 is in a warmer land. As she uses it as her dressing room space …of course she does! She had the biggest room when we lived in Melbourne and had a big walk in wardrobe…the disappointment was real when she moved back here😆)
Anyway first coat done whilst Jungle Book was playing until my iPad ran out of battery but I’m sure I’ve seen it on a flight somewhere. Then watched ( listened) to I am Ruth ( channel 4) as I did the second coat. And I’m seriously hoping it doesn’t need a third coat but will see properly once it’s daylight. Need to get some more masking tape as I ran out to finish the bottom inch of the wall.Popped out to pick something up that a local person was selling and we ended up standing blethering for about 15 minutes. Having never met her before, we had a nice chat. I’d just walked and boy was it blowy!Chat to friend on phone. I was sat under a blanket with a hot water bottle! No heating!Yesterday I woke up and thought it was Friday, this morning I’ve woken up and thought it was Friday! No idea why! There’s a few days in between! It’s dark and rainy and windy but not freezing! Heating just been popped on to warm house slightly then it will be switched off as I’ll be up and down ladders and humphing furniture around!Have a lovely day.8 -
1. A new dehumidifier arrived. It wasn't cheap but so far working very well. The old one wasn't doing a great job.
The house is damp and especially in the unused bedrooms there is mould on the ceilings. Hopefully it will work so no need to redecorate.
2. Messages with a friend and she let me vent which helped calm me down.
3. Being thanked for organising the work Christmas meal. He enjoyed it so much that he wanted one in the summer too in the same place!
4. Arriving home felt good and lit candles and enjoyed a glass of wine.
5. An early night and reading my book.
6. The clerical team at work - checking I was ok. I agreed to see an extra patient with challenging behaviour( he was with his Mum). He was very vocal and punched the walls too. I gained enough cooperation so the tests of testing meant he didn't need to come back.
I know by now I should know better but I had hoped my manager may have asked how I was after especially as he punched the wall of her office which she was in with the door open.

Oh yes, not like Lainey to be absent 😘
lovely lunch with 2 oldest friends on Monday. So glad snow had melted as it was a journey I’m not too familiar with. Lovely pub with log fire and I had Christmas Turkey 🦃 dinner and Eton mess 😋
I also made a mini Christmas dinner on Sunday, and we had leftovers in Christmas dinner pie last night, some left over for tonight. Good job I like Christmas dinners! Also made plum pie with the rest of the pastry. Went down well with OH.
Braved the big shops yesterday. Only went in 2 though ( I dislike shopping!). Walked round M&S but didn’t buy anything! Into Tesco’s and got the rest of the presents, slippers, chocolates etc and some more food stuff. Hopefully that’s everything now. Was out for about 3 hours, but felt exhausted when I got home. Just made the 2 pies (with ready made pastry) prepped the veg and that was about it.
Today I’m having a lie in catching up on here. Then plan today is to gather all the presents together and get wrapping. Then hopefully I will make a large boeuf bourginon to use during Twixmas.
Have a great day everyone 😊🎄8 -
Bless you both for thinking of me, sorry to say that a nasty flu virus has found our home and delivered an extra large dose for Christmas so not many pleasures as of late, just lots of honey & lemon plus painkillers.
We’ve had to cancel plans for early celebrations with youngest DSS & lovely gf so am grumpy about that as well, ho hum.
Oh well, it’s the winter solstice today so the shortest day will soon be just a memory, Merry Midwinter to you all x9 -
Oh no, Lainey, so sorry to hear you are unwell and have had to cancel your plans. Hope you are soon on the mend x
