1. Day of arduous, wearisome and wearying, but whingeing about it now with toasty toes, in bed already and back to 1 hwb.
2. Phone stopped charging, despite multi lead changes and then wiped &'s entire screen.😱😖 So it was another haul to where the Royston Vasey dregs of bus service were rumoured to now depart, 4 times daily. & didn't care whether it went to Town of Gown or Town of Horse, just needed to have things fixed. Town of Horse it was, tant mieux, because arm supposedly fixed 10 days ago on &'s new lunettes was NOT fixed and & didn't want them falling apart over chrimbo. This time, proper job done.
3. No need to scope CSs on way down High Street really....but might as well. One never knows.😁 Glad I did - oak platter carved+finished in fish shape; interesting terra cotta studio vase with lovely scrawl in base and 4/- in pencil; Wedgwood jasperware+white Lloyd's Bank 200 years Commemorative dish; quirky early 50s Cornish ware S+P as 2 semi-circles which sit together. Will & return for an extraordinary French decanter, blown as chevalier monté with gold flourishes? Truly and spectacularly hideous, with stopper, which is his plumed hat, needing a tiny regrind to lose a nick or two. On verra. Very Spitalfields......
4. Very long, very slow trek to church yesterday, with shooting stick used every step of the way and sole completely reglued on left Ugg - post passim. All held together, & and Ugg.
5. Fine isihac on R4 from Newcastle tonight🤣😁😆😂😅. Fred Macauley and Pippa someone in great form, ditto john Finnemore and Rory Bremner.

Right &, post now with a heap of new systems rumbling in phone since surgery, then come back and try to add bits in.....😒

Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep. I slept through bigger son getting up and going to work. He was worried that he took 2 days off last week (he only started 3 weeks ago) but his boss had a day off today with the same illness.
2) I went to our football club to pick up clothing donations for the asylum seekers. Some good trainers in the bag today. Bought smaller son a football themed Christmas present from the club shop.
3) Went to Sainsburys for some last Christmas presents and stocking fillers.
4) Went to the cafe in floody town for a cup of tea and bought a voucher from them for my sister's Christmas present.
5) Off to the Christmas do! Lots of crackers, nuts, dates, sweets etc out on the tables. We had a quiz then bingo. This all went very well and was the most fun thing I have done in a while. There were 6 of us in our team and (perhaps lacking in imagination) our team was named The Kurdish Team! We were second.
6) Back to town briefly and that is all the Christmas shopping done, apart from a present for my brother.
7) My school friend phoned and will be popping round tomorrow.
8) A Sainsbury's delivery! We even had to wait until 9pm to have a cup of tea as there was no milk in the house.
9) In bed now with 1hwb. Must do some Arabic practise.7 -
I update you on my day while listening to ISIHAC - many thanks ampers for the reminder
1) as has been already mentioned today was much warmer - lovely walk in but was too hot by the time I got half way!
2) interesting left overs lunch - some mince, some red cabbage, the last 2 spoonfuls of hm leek and potato soup and the last of a tin of beans - mum does leave strangely small amounts of things in tupperware
3) coffee with friend after her job interview - we were so busy chatting she missed the call from the dean to say she'd got the job 🤣
4) another lovely friend gave me a lift after work to tesco cos car still in garage and we were very low on food - had messaged gbf but he's been ill - turns out he was feeling better so we now have no shortage 😎
5) poor dd2 missed her train and the next 2 home were cancelled (flooding) - she caught the bus which got her into ninewells at 7 so i walked the boys up to meet her (about 30 mins each way) - home to supper (left overs in tupperware), good giggle with dd2, dyed hair and now, as mentioned, in bed listening to ISIHAC

1 Made a choc chip and nut cake as everything seems to be pastry based, made a batch of mince pies, and brandy marzipaned the Christmas cake, I’ve noticed I’m baking rather than buying goodies, as we need to keep track of using less sugar, thou I am sure the home-made Christmas cake alone undoes all of that!
2 After the freezer Tetris mix up I where gravy was mistaken for bolognaise, I used up the gravy today.
3 Distracted by TV watching The Robert Dowdy jr version of Dr Dolittle.
4 I received an Ocado delivery, honestly after T;s cancelled various ones, I moved to Ocado, so far it’s been free delivery, better quality food and the price has been the same as I have been comparing all items and offer items.
5 I ordered some rainbow carrot seeds on offer and didn’t realise how many there were, I now have 800 seeds!
6 I decided to give the Wednesday series a go, may have watch 4 episodes straight off. Ops.

Dropping in quickly after an amazing day. Went to bed with a winter wonderland outside and woke up to find it had all gone and we are in a heatwave situation - well, obviously not but definitely a lot warmer than of late.
Pleasures in no particular order:
1) At the risk of sounding very vain and shallow, my staff Christmas present from me to me as a reward for looking after and chasing round after and supporting the five males in my household arrived. Not sure if the pleasure was the pressie, the wrapping or both but it is gorgeous high-end face stuff, the likes of which I have never had before that came in a white box with gold lettering tied up in black and gold ribbon. Oh my.....told you I was shallow! I'll be washing football kits next year with glowing skin, haha.
2) Met my girlfriends from my old work for lunch and a catch up. first meet up since October 2019 when we moved and then of course we had 2020 and all the rest of it. Just like old times with so much to catch up on, lots of laughter, a few tears. big hugs and a totally fabulous time.
3) The second viewing on my mum's bungalow has resulted in an amazing offer. They need to exchange by 8th Jan and complete on the 18th as that is when they need to be out of their current property. Eek! Their solicitors have told them the timescale is possible as they are cash buyers and it's fine with us, the property is empty, just need to remove the furniture. So it's up to their solicitors to do what needs to be done. Crickey!
4) Got home reeling from 2) and 3) and my lad popped in to say did we fancy a four day holiday in a lodge on the shores of Loch Lomond next week between Christmas and New Year. His girlfriend's sister and hubby had it booked and now can't go and they can't get a refund. Nobody they know can go so they asked son's girlfriend but they can't go, the boys are here that week and she opted to have this week off work and is working next week so she wondered if we would like to go. Definitely! Nothing planned, no oldies to worry about and no childcare as son is on holiday so we are free as birds. They are refusing to accept any payment, just glad we can make use of it. So we go next Tuesday, the day after Boxing Day. Our first holiday in over three years, a huge pleasure.
5) More excitement today than a little person can cope with so my final pleasure of the day was jarmers on, feet up, Only Connect and University Challenge with a sharing bag of Maltesers.
And now off to the Land of Nod. Not had time to catch up on posts so hope everyone is ok, Night night.

Pleasures for today
1. Finished work this morning and now off until January
2. Couple of naps during the day when doggie allowed
3. salmon fish cakes for tea/dinner - was a bit like eating at breakfast though, had with salad.
4. Finally put the Christmas Tree up.5. Wrapped some presents whilst watching Elf.7 -
1. Seeing one of my bulbs in flower again. I can't remember it's called but makes me happy thinking it survived being covered in snow for a week.
2. Not too bad a day at work - ignored by the people that cause a problem!
3. Finished stewing apples. We were gifted an enormous amount and I've finally finished them. Loads in the freezer to use next year and hens have had some too.
4. Pizza for tea. More used up from freezer - needed space for apples.
5. Watched Only Connect.7 -
Good morning. A lovely bright day.
Highdays - lots of good news there, especially a surprise holiday. Wonderful!
D Doll - I'm with your mum on that one. Always lots of bits in our fridge and then they get added to the next meal. Makes for interesting and unique flavours😂
Went for a walk to the village this morning. First time in ages. Really enjoyed the fresh bright day and feel better for it too.( though I got very hot. Didn't realise how warm it was)
Was looking for toffees to make toffee sauce for my Bailey's trifle. The ones I usually get appear to be all sugar free now. I hate the taste of sweeteners so that was out. Found some soft caramels so will have a trial run with them. Otherwise it's back to boiling up condensed milk!
Nearly finished Wisting series2 now. It's good.
TV box being silly and didn't record Only Connect! Thank goodness for iPlayer!
Bubble and squeak for tea ( leftovers again!) with mince and gravy. All good peasant food!
Happy 🌞day everyone

Hello again.
Happycas - yes, days like that don't come along too often, all my Christmases at once!
1) Tossed and turned all night with everything that happened yesterday so a big pleasure was getting up this morning and an invigorating shower. Starting to flag a bit now though.
2) Consolidated all my scraps of paper with notes on into one Christmas 'to do' list so feeling a bit more organised for the last-minute run up. Have pruned the shopping list considerably as we will not be here now to eat up the leftovers so don't want too many of them. We have decided we will have pub lunches while we are away, hopefully in front of a log fire, and then nibbles and snacks and choccies in the evening, bottles of nice wine and cream liqueur may also be consumed. Can't wait! Oh dear, that makes us sound pretty bad so will qualify it by saying Christmas is the only time of the year when we buy any booze other than bubbly for celebrations!
3) More cookie making, I am convinced the boys have hollow legs!
4) Took littlest grandson to the shopping centre to listen to the brass band, do a little bit of nice shopping and have lunch out. Almost had tears in my eyes when he sang along to Frosty the Snowman - if I'd looked at him he would have stopped so I had to pretend I wasn't listening! He chats away and his vocabulary has come on enormously. Think he's got to 'c' in the dictionary as everything is either colossal or catastrophic!
5) I am sat with my foot peel socks on, this isn't a pleasure particularly as they are not the most comfortable of things. Ten more minutes and they can come off and the pleasure will be in a few days when they start peeling and I will have nice soft tootsies for going away.
Hope everyone gets well or keeps well in time for the big day, stay safe!

fab pleasures highdays - enjoy Loch Lomond
1) missed the bus - the pleasure was it was a nice walk in and i arrived with enough time (just) to make a cuppa
2) and as had missed the bus didn't buy a day ticket for xpress which meant when the first bus going up to the hospital was stagecoach caught it
3) lunch with colleague - our new cafe does a very good pizza - they have oodles of toppings, 2 ovens and was £4!
4) gbf picked me up after work and we had lots of laughs over supper
5) and now in bed watching Miriam Margoyle's A Christmas Carol - must go, that's the ad break finishedMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
