Can’t have us on page 2! So a few pleasures today:
Ventured out today for first time since D Day on Tuesday. OH drove us to Lidl’s, such excitement! Our road and next junction slippery as no gritting done, snow ❄️ Still really thick, roll on higher temperatures tomorrow afternoon, but it will be such a mess.
Spent a lot in a Lidl but it did include some booze and chocolates for presents 🎁 they charged me for a loaf of bread I didn’t have though!☹️
Lazy afternoon (again). I watched Love Actually, such an enjoyable film. Then tonight I lit the coal effect gas fire in the chilly kitchen/diner and OH sat in there with his portable DVD player whilst I watched Strictly (we are a 1 tv household). I enjoyed Strictly and although Hamza has been my favourite during the series, I thought Fleur and Helen were better tonight and I would have liked Helen to win. The energy meter shows an alarming amount tonight with the extra heating on.
Now cosy in bed with my hot pad on my back, hopefully won’t need it tomorrow.

Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Felt a bit better today.
3) Tidied up and cleaned the floors.
4) Did some Arabic.
5) Put the Christmas tree up, finally!
6) Smaller son and I went to McDonalds.
7) Talked to my school friend.
8) Thought it was Sunday all day (as the football was frozen due to the ice) so it was a nice surprise just now to remember that it is not Monday tomorrow!9 -
1. Long chat with a friend on the phone. We hadn't had a proper chat for ages.
2. Managed to throw rubbish in the wheelie bin. The lid has been frozen shut since I tried on Thursday.
3. Good journey to Kew by car as rail strike. Journey home was very quick.
4. Lovely meal out and cocktails were delicious.
5. Walk you d the illuminations at Kew gardens. They were very good and some parts felt very peaceful.9 -
For yesterday,
Bit of a lie in, fresh sheets make it just the little bit better.
Not long up and started to feel rough, no no no, don’t need a cold for Christmas thanks.
Over to see equine girlie, still very icy out so she was in her stable and appreciated a long groom then a play with her treat ball. Nice chat with fellow owner.
Starting to feel decidedly rough so dozed on & off all afternoon.
Watched and enjoyed the Strictly final.7 -
Good afternoon. Bit warmer here but not much!
Managed to cut my finger yesterday with the bread knife. Tiddly little cut but about two pints of blood pouring out! Only way to stop it was to hold my finger in the air so I snuggled down on the sofa and read my book with one hand high. It worked!
Went to a mini Christmas market at the wildlife park yesterday with DS and 2 DGC. The weather was fine when first mooted, drizzly when we got there and then turned to proper rain so we didn't stay long. Long enough to go to the cafe for hot drinks and waffles! Was lovely to meet them though.
All presents wrapped and under the tree. All decorations up. Feeling quite sorted. Just a bit of baking to do nearer the day.
Haven't watched Strictly since about halfway through. I got tired of all the sad stories trying to manipulate votes. And also of the fact that many of the contestants seemed interchangeable. But I'm pleased with the result. A contestant in the true Strictly spirit, I think.
Happy Sunday everyone

Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Up (reasonably) early and drove to a volunteer's house. 5 of us packed 140 bags of Christmas things for the asylum seekers. This was quite jolly though we couldn't talk much as we circled the table, putting one of each thing in the bags.
3) Went to M and S for a pot of tea. Also to TKMaxx to get some socks. I really need to finish the Christmas shopping!
4) Back home and we plus bigger son's girlfriend watched the first 90 minutes of the World Cup final.
5) Off to the pub! We watched the last 30 minutes plus penalties of the final then did the pub quiz.
6) In bed now with 1 hwb. It has gone from -4 to 9 degrees.7 -
Good morning! Almost tropical this morning for the dog! 10o how bizarre.Right my Sunday went as follows:
Quick doggy walk down to the post box. Was a tad slippy so I walked on the crunchy grass rather than the ice rink pavement. Then I walked to work and walked on the gritted road rather than the ice rink pavement. Was only in for a half day ( but the fear I was going to have to take one for the team and stay on as I’d to send someone home but thankfully someone else took one for the team and kindly stepped in and saved my half day! Phew!) Oh the joy of walking out !By which time it had thawed and was such a cold wind but at that point still dry. Nipped into supermarket for a few things and walked the long way home ( up past mums) stopped in to see her NDN to check in on her. Chatter. Chatter. Then met chap from the allotment as I was so nearly home. Chatter. Chatter. So that was the first hour of my afternoon off. Walking and chattering!Oh I was glad to get in and pop the fire on and made sausages in the airfryer which we had in crusty rolls. DD2 and I exchanged our Christmas gifts a week early. It was nice. And I’d said I didn’t want stuff ( I’ve had so much ‘stuff’ this year enter my home that I’m still processing after mum died) but I’d asked for a voucher for my hairdresser. And she also gave me some nice little bits and pieces that I will use and were thoughtful. But it was just nice the two of us sat in front of the fire with a doggy watching everything. Then I had a snoozette in front of the fire which was nice too! And a gentle snooze rather than an I’m utterly exhausted after work crash out! Then we went to church for Christingle. It was so lovely. I’ve not been to church in over two years because it was closed for so long because of lockdown and then ultimately because I work every Sunday! But I had a lovely welcome and so nice to see lots of familiar faces. And the singing familiar carols and in candlelight was just so special. This service used to always mark in my mental calendar that it was so very nearly Christmas. It will be a very different one this year for a variety of reasons but I’m glad I went. I felt topped up when I left.We got some Indian takeaway on the way home and enjoyed it but two nights of lots of food are a bit much, so it will be a lighter tea tonight I think!Right need to get my shorts and tee shirt on for the quick doggy walk! Only joking but apparently to be 14o here today ( but damn…raining or my washing would be out! )
Have a lovely day.

For yesterday
1. A lie in for me and then watched Strictly final as DH not interested and only watched the dancing and fast forwarded everything else. Pleased with the winner.
2. It was very cold whilst cleaning the chickens out but had chat with neighbour who was cleaning out his chickens. I did manage to open the water container which had been frozen shut. Enormous block of ice. I had been giving them warm water in the hole that it wouldn't freeze in 10 minutes!
3. DS1 came over and another drive which was ok. It would have been another train journey but for rail strikes.
4. Had a drink in a pub watching some of the match before we walked to rugby. It seemed a long time since we had been there and was much colder, wetter and windy. We won the match which was good.
People were watching end of extra time and penalties on their phones at the start.
5. Drive home and stopped for a Chinese. A warm welcome by the staff there.
6. Another one we left the house at 2.30 and thick snow about 4 inches everywhere and back at 10.30 and virtually no snow anywhere to be seen and much warmer.8 -
Hello! And big deep sigh…no more work for 3 weeks! Hu-blooming-rah! Busy day but it’s all done and dusted!Different Monday people today but we had a nice shift. Decent tips.Doggy cuddles mid morning with a promise of that’s it for 3 weeks. No more work… am I going on too much 😆 I will be back in for an event on Friday but that’s fun not hard labour!Pile of Christmas cards through the door when I got home. One for a random stranger to my address. So shall endeavour to find out who it is.DD2 texted to say she’d arrived ( in a sunnier land than this! ) currently blowing a hooly outside ( a very mild hooly though!)
