Happy New Year to all my 5os pals, wishing you all the best for 2023.
For yesterday,
Bit of a lie-in followed by coffee & croissants.
Mild day so bit of pottering outside, no sign of any snowdrops yet but the forsythia has budded up.
Over to see my pony, by this time it was chucking it down with rain so in she came - she is miserable in the wet and will just stand at the gate looking longingly towards her stable - and had a big hay net plus a treat ball.
We had a fish & chip supper with a glass or two of wine and were in bed by 11pm 🤣
I woke briefly an hour later to register all the fireworks being let off in celebration.10 -
Happy New Year!I’m enjoying the peace and quiet that a week ago I hated!Well didn’t actually read my book last night , fell asleep and woke just before midnight then had to listen to blooming fireworks going off for ages.Made cheese scones in airfryer for breakfast. Then read my book. Then had a mega doze! DD2 and her chap were watching stuff in the other room.Made a nice dinner. To mark the occasion of multi-culturalism ( he’s from Italy) I made a traditional NYD dish with lentils and sausage as a starter. Then we had steak pie, lovely honey roasted veggies, broccoli , sprouts (real food PP if you’re in the parish!) and peas. Then later once there was a bit of space in our tummies we had a peach with pomegranate seeds crumble. Pomegranate are apparently lucky 🇮🇹
And traditionally he would eat grapes which I don’t usually buy because of doggy but he ate them then they’ve just left and taken the grapes away!! You know just in case the dog jumps up, opens the fridge door and reaches to the top shelf to get them 😆 But the crumble was very yummy and there was enough leftover topping left to go in the freezer for a future Tuesday tea.Anyway we’ve had a nice late afternoon/evening chattering and laughing and they’ve just left. I’ve got to a bit in the book that made me gasp out loud and I just want to keep reading! So the quiet is very welcome.
Heres hoping we have a year of good things in our day to day lives!10 -

well having gone to sleep by 11:30 last night I was woken by the fireworks at 12. dogs and cat slept through the lot 😏
1) took the boys up Balgay to greet the first sun rise of the year - it was too foggy to see but a nice walk - we brought back an abandoned blue bin (paper recycle, no address on it) - i'd been wanting to swap my small for a large but two small will do just fine - now cleaned out and drying
2) later mum and I went for a walk to the river - we met several friends en route
3) then back for the !!!!!!-a-leekie soup that I'd made that morning - scrummy (I didn't add the prunes mhags, hope that's not too shocking!)
4) Luton won again and are now 5th yay
5) after pizza for supper a glass of mulled wine and Yesterday which mum and I hadn't seen before. Very good but didn't spot Bernard who I understand appears in every Richard Curtis

Have lapsed, but will try harder, & will just keep to five OSPs.Today has not been easy but there have been things to delight in.A mango seed (1 of 4) has sprouted what I hope is a rootling & is on my office windowsill alongside two acorns equally pensively contemplating soil. I’d almost given up on the mangoes, so just the hope is intoxicating!Mindful of LaineyT’s advice, the Bendicks Bittermints are in the fridge & just one a day is a special pleasure. After a hot water bottle leak (stopper technology user error) my bed was stripped, mattress rotated, clean linen & thicker duvet - it’s blissful…The boys are expanding my film viewing - Knives Out was a smashing whodunnit!Youngest has a cold & cough, so I am following the pharmacist’s advice & plying him with hot drinks. Given he usually makes me tea by the pint, this is a role reversal but he’s touchingly appreciative.Health, strength, love, & courage to all as have need (along with HWBs & hot drinks) & wishing all a Happy New Year!

Hello and happy new year! I used to post on here aeons ago, and love reading everyone's pleasures but haven't felt the urge to post in a very long time. That's changed , as have many, many things in my life.
1. Excited because this is the year that beloved and I are getting married , 😍
2. Excited and nervous because this is the year DD will take her A levels and possibly go off to uni (there's a growing chance she's going to go to a local uni and continue to live at home!!). Whatever she chooses to do, I'll be delighted.
3. I've joined the decluttering challenge, want to get rid of 2023 items this year, have managed 23 in a day 😊
4. We spent the first day of the year with lovely, lovely friends, it was such a glorious, positive way to welcome the year.
5. Feeling very chilled with one more day holiday before going back to work (teaching burned me out last year, so I took the plunge and left the classroom. I now work within a university but not with students, and so this was my first holiday in more than 8 years where I didn't have anything to do other than rest, relax and enjoy myself!).10
