We have been watching that programme about Castle Howard Paulie, looks wonderful and is on our list of places to visit.
For yesterday,
A grey, cold raw kind of a day, my heaviest jumpers have been dug out.
Gave the living room a good hoover and a little move around, lamp now in better position.
Time with my horse, riding actively winds down this time of year and it’s just about keeping her ticking over until spring.
Message from elderly pal’s daughter, she has been moved to a care home for physio respite so am planning a visit this week.
Watched and enjoyed the footie, think England may struggle against the better teams but good to see MR get his mojo back.8 -
thanks HappyCas ,bit mixed after discussion and examination I’ve been fast tracked for a scan to look for pancreatic nasties .
both hoping it’s nothing and she doesn’t want to stop the statins as my heart needs them !
Feeling a bit battered at the moment and wondering just how long the 2 week fast track is in this area at the moment !9 -
Good morning! I’m having a lazy start to my day but need to get moving shortly! Slept a whole 8 hours! Wow!Yesterday was a day of in and out. In and out. So I’m looking forward to a quieter day today.Had to return my wicker tree skirt that had looked so massive but wasn’t massive enough! Nipped into the next door to that shop supermarket and got just 4 things.Home and hoovered and washed floors and cleaned downstairs loo and hung a washing out. Then time to head out again and pick up DD2 for a hospital appointment. Think we got the last space in the carpark, the tiniest squeeze in car parking space! Luckily I’ve a small car! Bit of waiting around but I’d taken a book to read…I’ve done this malarkey a few times! And then had to drop her off at work then come home. Hello doggy. I know. I’ve missed you too.Made dinner, friend came over. A night of chatter and laughter as always and she brought me a lovely bunch of carnations which were very welcome as I’d just put flowers out in the garden bin that morning. And I’d phoned my internet provider ( which I’ve been meaning to do for about 3 years! So I’m saving myself £20 a month from now on. And changed the DD date to one that actually suits me!Have a lovely day!

Hi everyone.
Just briefly popping in for a quick catch up.
Frith - thank you for your kind thoughts. My problem is that I'm such a control freak that when it comes to something I have no control over I find it hard to sit on my hands and play the waiting game! I need to learn to take a step back and be a bit more pragmatic. Not easy....
Paulie & Lainey - Castle Howard is fabulous, its history is really interesting too, definitely a must go to. Paulie - you brought back some very special memories for me. We took my mum and dad a few years ago at Christmas, by then they were both in their nineties and my dad was struggling to walk but determined to go and they loved it, it was so magical. We struggled to get my dad back on the tractor train thing to go back to the car park but as it set off back in the dark the snow fell and it was utterly magical, his face was a joy. A treasured memory, thank you so much for reminding me. Enjoy the rest of your visit. I had an old boss, a Lieutenant Colonel, whose parents were in India and sent him during the war to live with the family at Nunnington Hall.
SSue - good that you've had your appointment and been fast tracked for a scan, you need to get to the bottom of this so hold tight and take it day by day. Keep as well as you can, you have some really good friends on here who will help to support you through the wait, which is always the worst part. Take care and go steady x
Right, I can put off the pre-Christmas clean up no longer, I'm off to look for pleasures in my dusty corners.
Have a good day.10 -
Hello. I’ve had a nice day, just me and my doggy.Slept all night. A rarity!Lazy start to the day. However I’ve cleaned my bathroom, tidied the airing cupboard, put out a pile of Christmas decorations I don’t want ( waiting on them being picked up), hoovered upstairs, washed my bedding, it was outside on the line for a wee while and finished off on radiators. Just to put quilt cover back on.Did a tiny bit of tidying in the garden. Cut back my verbena, swept up. Found a raspberry on the bush so gave that to the doggy. Filled up log basket.Finished my book.Had mince and potatoes for tea with cauliflower, broccoli, carrots and peas.8

Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep. Woken by bigger son's alarm clock (second day in new job) but then went back to sleep.
2) Finally picked up the clothes sorted by the footballers.
3) Had eyebrows threaded.
4) Had lunch at the college where smaller son could have gone (it has a cafe for the public).
5) Made an appointment at the dentist as the back of one of my front teeth has fallen off. I've never had any tooth problems before!
6) Had a drive and park by the house that I looked at on Monday. I am going for a second viewing tomorrow. No news on my house, since I rejected the offer... Goodness knows how you choose a new house; precious few cheap enough are coming on the market.
7) Read half of Tom Allen's autobiography and watched some of the football.8 -
Pleasures for today
1. dog walk without any rain
2. Managed to get to craft group
3. Cheap petrol - 10p per litre cheaper
