Good journey back from Yorkshire on Friday after a full English breakfast in the golf club restaurant. We had a really enjoyable week with lots of Christmassy 🎄highlights as well as relaxing in our lovely cottage.
Back down to earth though with a dreaded Hygienest appointment Saturday morning after a sleepless night worrying about it. She was very nice and quite gentle but I will soon start stressing again as I have to have 2 teeth out next week ☹️
Tried to keep up the Christmassy mood with a visit to the church Christmas fair yesterday and one in the park today. Both very low key and didn’t buy much but chatted to a few people I don’t see now.
Nice home cooked dinner of pork with apples and leeks cooked in gravy with potatoes on the top. With a glass of red 🍷 of course, followed by hot mince pie and ice cream. Watched the football.
night all 💤8 -
good luck with the teeth paulieherts that'll me soon
a very busy weekend. yesterday
1) met gbf for elevenses at the botanics - we had tea and sausage sandwiches - yum
2) then we walked the boys up balgay - work has been very stressful so lovely to switch off
3) then back to mine for a cuppa and chat with mum
4) a friend was going to a 'buff elf bingo night' with 5 friends - one was ill was i free to go instead? so i did - goodness me!
5) after we went to spoons for cocktails and played charades (or a variation thereon - pick a character and an action card and mime) - huge fun and a lift home from friend's daughter
and for today
1) finished a book from the stash - reckon it's going to take me till end of 2024!
2) met an ex-colleague in Tesco who moved to Australia a few years ago - what a coincidence to bump into him at the bread aisle!
3) sorted two boxes from my bedroom - still a way to go but good to get sorting again
4) footie with DrM - very enjoyable game
5) we didn't stay much longer as tomorrow of course is work and now i'm in bed - hooray for bed!MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Back again very briefly.
Paulie - just to say, after a routine visit to the dentist last year, I finished up having to have two teeth out, a top wisdom tooth and the one next to it. They hadn't been causing me any trouble but a 'pocket' thing in my gum was apparently causing problems, would never get better but would get worse. This was my very, very worst nightmare, I used to dream about having teeth out and wake up in a real panic. I was absolutely dreading it and begged them to let me have a general anaesthetic but to no avail. But I just wanted to tell you that, in the event, it really, really was fine. It didn't hurt one little bit, there was quite a bit of pushing more than pulling and I was genuinely surprised when he said 'There, that's the wisdom tooth out' so after that I sort of relaxed a bit and the next one was a doddle. Honestly, you can't be any more stressed about it than I was but I promise it won't be anywhere near what you are imagining. Techniques and equipment are so sophisticated these days, I wouldn't have a moment's worry if I had to do it again except I don't want to lose any more! I know people say very glibly 'Oh, you'll be fine' but I genuinely can promise you it really will be fine. I had a couple of paracetamol that night as the dentist said they would help the tissues to settle and I felt a bit shell shocked because I had been so worked up but a good sleep sorted that.
I know this won't stop you from being stressed but I hope it puts your mind at rest a little bit about the procedure.
Hope you don't mind me posting this.
Big hugs x

thank you DD and Highdays. Mine is exactly the same, top wisdom tooth jammed next to the other one, impossible to clean between, so decayed and I have pockets. Bad experiences in the past led to my phobia and nightmares. Your words have helped and my dentist said similar, so big girls pants on and try and put it out of my mind until D day, next Tuesday 😊😘7

Teeth pulling and buff elves, love this thread 😊
For yesterday,
Prepped a piece of brisket and popped it in the SC.
Breakfast followed by the Archers omnibus, it was very well done but poor Ben.
Over to see my pony, goodness it was cold but she was snug as bug having a duvet day while the fields are still being done, took her for a little walk in hand just to stretch her legs.
The beef was yummy with mustard mash and cabbage.
Candles lit and cosy at home, we enjoyed the football and then found an old HIGNFY to watch, pre pandemic and it was strange to think all that was to come.

Hello! And hurrah! The workety work days are done ( though have other worky things on this week not actual working shifts…nice events!)
It was so cold overnight as I didn’t have heating on at all yesterday and hardly on on Friday /Saturday ( as I had logburner on) so I thought right I’ll put it on the timer…pfft! It’s now off the timer as that’s been a fortune today according to the smart meter. Came home mid morning to let doggy out…that would be a warm and cosy doggy. And then it was nice when I came in after work and it was warm but almost passed out when I looked at the smart meter. And now it’s too warm upstairs! 😆…anyway will be back to switching on and off as necessary tomorrow.Beautiful sunrise and sunset. I love the evening wintery sky as I leave work. It’s always so pretty.Had a good day at work. Not crazy busy though very noisy. And a few friends were in so had a chance to nip out and chat with them. Which was nice. As sometimes it’s just too busy.
And great tips for second day in a row which was nice. Good company too. We have a good laugh on a Monday.Got chips for tea which was hardly fat club friendly but were devoured! And I’m in my bed nice and early and I’m just going to read a book and probably fall asleep! It’s been a long day!8 -
Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) A lie in!
2) The estate agents from the seller's house phoned (i.e not my estate agents - confusing!) One executor is in England and one in France so they haven't managed to speak to the distant one yet about my offer. Nothing yet from the person who needs to make a higher offer on my house...
3) Went to the library to pay the 45p I owed the man for printing. Also got a children's book out on the Christmas Story for English lessons during the afternoon, otherwise it would have been the blind leading the blind!
4) Sat in M and S for a while drinking tea as I was too early.
5) Went to English. Not loads of students today so I combined forces with another English speaker. 2 gentlemen were introduced to mince pies for the first time and realised their mistake after the first bite but were too polite to leave the rest! Also dropped off the bag of clothes donated by the football player.
6) Took smaller son to Sainsburys.
7) Just watching the Brazil v South Korea match.8 -

Not quite a pleasure. & did her very best with scoreboard on Saturday, but could not tweak a late 2-point loss back our way. Infuriating, as we had that match in hand.😤CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:
