Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Up early to take my brother to Hereford for what has become our annual Christmas shop. We went round the charity shops. My brother bought me a glass bauble from the Star College shop (made by the pupils). We went to the cafe in the church then for a wander round the cathedral. I didn't buy any Christmas presents at all!
3) On to Ludlow for more charity shops. Oxfam (possibly the best of the shops) is always shut due to lack of staff or training recently. Closed again today. I bought 2 CDs for the car and some Christmas cards.
4) Did various tidying and admin type jobs. The other estate agent says my offer has been rejected. No news as to a new offer for my house. Perhaps it will all be in the new year now. I did a mammoth Sainsburys online order as we needed very little food when bigger son was travelling but now he is back and we do but have somehow been cobbling meals together without all the ingredients we need! Also ordered pigs in blankets, mince pies, wrapping paper etc. Ordered the book for my niece's Christmas present.
5) Have been re-watching Romesh Ranganathan's Christmas specials.
Our football team will be on television live tomorrow night! This is a new thing, to highlight some of the matches that take place outside of the league. We will be on BT Sport from 7 (I think), playing Chester. I will be the lady in the black coat and hat standing next to a very tall man in a grey hoodie and we will be in the East stand, right at the top...9 -
Good couple of days 😊
was going to meet my BF in M&S cafe yesterday but she phoned me when I was on my way to say it was packed so we met at the pub instead and had chicken coujons with chilli sauce and skin on chips, very nice it was too!
Made myself go swimming this morning, despite the freezing temperatures and wanting to stay in bed. Managed 30 lengths which wasn’t too bad as hadn’t been for 2 weeks and legs are really not working.
started on the Christmas decorations today, but really couldn’t get into it.
Concert tonight with OH, Cara Dillon, upon a winters night, at the beautiful Union Chapel in Islington, very Christmassy 🎄 and a good meal in the restaurant beforehand (more boeuf bourginon 😊). We parked at our local station and the Chapel is just across the road at the other end, so not too much walking.
In bed now, very late for me, with a hot pad across my achy knees.
Night all 💤9 -
Good morning
I've not managed to read back yet but have seen a photo of a beautiful white ( or is it more correct to say 'grey'?) horse.
Also a photo of a very handsome, half dressed young man 😀
And one of a beautifully lit church
Thank you all
S Sue - do you have any results yet? I keep thinking of you and hoping things are improving. More hugs
We've been to Germany! ( and France and Holland!) A coach trip to Christmas markets. Was good fun and saw lots but needed a rest when we got back!
Our favourite was Freiburg. Not as manic as some and felt more 'real'. A lovely town too.
Baden Baden has a very pretty market in a park with lovely twinkly lights.
Strasbourg was so busy they had police maintaining a one-way pedestrian system!
But lots to see and bought a few Cnristmassy bits.
Our friend had brought with him three sets of battery fairy lights for us to wear as scarves. DH very soon managed to 'forget ' his but friend and I continued. It made it easy to spot each other, and raised many smiles along the way.
And now back to reality and Christmas prep.
Did more sewing of Advent calendar. Late already but will be done by weekend.
Wrote Christmas cards that need posting. Will post today. Early for me but with the strikes....
Bought Bailey's ready for my annual Bailey's trifle.
Getting there!
Happy Wednesday everyone

Thanks PK, she seemed much better yesterday.
Your trip sounds wonderful HappyCas
For yesterday,
Stunning sunrise through the beech trees, nice to see some sun.
Trip into horsey town with a bag of clothes to donate, BHF weren’t taking any at the moment so went to Scope instead, good chat with the lady in there.
On to neighbouring village to visit shop, they make local beeswax candles they smell gorgeous and wanted some for presents.
Over to see pony, she had been out during the day and all seemed ok, gave her a groom and tucked her up in a fleece rug with a cold night ahead.
Home, watched the penalties, bit of the Portugal game then caught the last programme about Castle Howard, this time it was all about getting the place ready for Christmas, the accountant in me wondered at the sensibility of spending 500k on seasonal decs when your stately home needs 15m spent on it, surely they will need a lot of gate receipts just to break even!

Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Vaguely tidied and did a few admin type jobs.
3) Took the library books back. Thought I would go to the museum and get another pewter Christmas decoration but they had gone up in price to £15 and I couldn't justify that. Had a cup of tea.
4) Wrote the Christmas cards.
5) Had my hair cut. Basically a short back and sides.
6) Took smaller son to the football. It was televised (extremely rare for National League North) and we were atrocious! A suitably disguised photo of me to follow... It was -2.

1. Toasty toes time again with fresh hwb.
2. PaulieHerts - your beautiful Union Chapel pic💙💜💚❤! &'s wonderful memory from there is a Spookymens Chorale concert a few years ago. The lights dimmed, that small stilling and hush of expectation just before anything begins, then came this, one clear ringing note after another, BUT from differing points and single voices all around!https://youtu.be/c0zybubZRA0
As the sound grew, each Spooky walked down the aisles, onto the stage, then together they rebuilt the refrain to thunderous applause. Here's a bolt-on of this Ukrainian song, too. Done last July in the Ship of the Fens and at many concerts since psychotic Putin's invasion.https://youtu.be/-YTgRNU8x4U
Monumental and moving, many in tears when & heard it in concert that same week, live in Bury St Edmunds.
3. Like Frith, the madness of a freezy night out watching a ball game.😁 At the Davey🏉Field, Cambridge Women v Suffolk Women - a big deal County clash. What a night of Dragon's Breath clouds from players, officials and spectators alike! Good turn-out and much noise for Cam-bridge, when we remembered not to shout Shel-ford, given that all but one player and all 3 Coaches are of the Peacock family.🦚🏉 Very gratifying full-time score.😁😇🤩
4. Stunningly sharp near-as-near full moon and Venus below tonight. On a Fen landscapes thingy & sees on book of farce, someone has already put up their amazing pic, which shows as a double-ringed moon. Called a moonbow apparently.

Good morning! It’s a chilly chilly start to the day. Just been a quick doggy walk and enjoyed crunching through the frosty grass with a big full moon above lighting our path.Yesterday was very quietly spent. I’ve had really low grade labyrinthitis past few days. Not full blown out and out dizzy, just dizzy enough to feel unsteady and unbalanced. So I’ve just been quiet.Sat at table in the morning and worked on worky stuff till my eyes felt like they were crossing! I was a bit like Santa checking my lists and checking them again!Cleaned bathrooms. And I must have done other things but generally was just being quiet.Made quiche for tea in the air fryer.10

For yesterday,
Such a cold, frosty start, cars defrosted and moved ahead of pipe work being done.
Into cathedral city to pick up ordered item and took the chance to pop into their emporium to spend Nectar points built up, included a box of Marzipan fruits as they are my elderly pal’s favourite.
Quiet afternoon at home, no yard visit as gate blocked by works! Felt in the mood for some Christie so downloaded a Marple to watch.
Befriending phone call made and enjoyed the chat.
Unusually for me no appetite so made beloved tea and I just had some toast, felt a tad lost with no footie to watch but enjoyed a recorded Between the Covers.
