For yesterday,
Spent most of the morning at the yard, horse was having a duvet day while the fencing in her field is replaced so she had a pamper day as well, legs tidied and a good chunk taken off the bottom of her tail to stop the mud dreadlocks ☺️Also worked her in the lunge pen
Home, cold and hungry so a big bowl of soup for lunch.
Telephone chat with new lady referred by Befriending Network.
Quick trip out to farm shop and saw a friend so we had a cuppa in the cafe.
Watched the football then read my book until bed.8 -
student feedback makes it all worthwhile vjsmum

3) then back up to Ninewells for 'climate conversations' - part of Scottish Communities Climate Action Network & Transition Scotland Hub – & network of climate action groups (sccan.scot) - very good (and more sarnies so my packed cheese sarnies now in the fridge for today)
4) bus back to mennies - who should get on but Dr M
5) match was dull but evening banter was good as we moved through presidential election, world cup permutations for next round, Top Cat and the recent census resultsMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Hello. In bed. It’s been a long day!Up early and made mince pies with DD1 ( at other side of the world)
Then drove in atrocious conditions to meet up with niece and great nephew at a local garden centre. Lovely to see them. Gave the kids 2 bags of advent treats. FaceTimed DD1 again.
Better drive home. I had something for friend so we had a dodgy looking exchange in the supermarket car park 😆
Quick shop. Needed fruit and doggy food.
Wet doggy walk. But not particularly cold nor windy.Watched a schmaltzy movie. In between all this I’ve done a gazillion work emails for Christmas events. Eyes crossing…so I’ve stepped away!Dinner was sausages, veggies.Lady picked up Christmas decorations. I can see my table again.8 -
Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went with my brother to look round The House for a second time. He went into the roof! We had a good wander around the garden. Paralysed by indecision now. The things I am worried about (awful neighbours, yapping dogs, some terrible subsidence or other fault) could happen at any time, in any house... It had a fantastic garden at some point (still pretty good now), large rooms, needs decorating but I can do that. It is the living in a town that I would have to get used to. Terrible kitchen.
3) We also went to the charity shops where my brother bought a jumper.
4) Bigger son appeared and then his girlfriend. We went out for lunch to a pub with my parents and brother.
5) I drove on to floody city afterwards (we had arrived at the pub in a fleet of cars) and sat in Waitrose, pondering life.
6) Had an email from my estate agent saying that my potential buyer is considering whether to make a higher offer. She is going to think about it over the weekend then let me know next week.
7) Took smaller son to floody town where he agreed to go for a walk (for about 200 metres!) then we bought a Chinese takeaway.
8) In bed with 2 hwb.8 -
For yesterday,
Went through the house, floors swept & washed, bathrooms cleaned and spiders evicted, had TMS in my ears and the exploits of our cricketers kept me going.
Went to see elderly pal, she has temporarily been moved to a care home for rehab, we watched Countdown together and had a laugh.
On to the yard, girlie had been out in a temporary field and apparently flirting outrageously with her next door neighbour, hussy!
Ooh the fog had come down and made for an exciting drive home through country lanes.
Home, tea out of the freezer and settled down to watch the drama of the football unfold.8 -
Frith - change is always hard but this is one of those huge 'life' decisions. If i can offer any insight, we live in town in ICT and it's fab. So useful and feels safe. Our 'other' house is a mile from town but, if we ever moved, i'd consider going even closer. Can the kitchen be redeemed in the short term with chalk paint? There's a fab facebook group where people have done amazing things with Frenchic.
Pleasures for yesterday
1. starting the marking (marking is not a pleasure but must be done and starting is the worst part)
2. blind man came and measured up. we now have a definite date for fitting (although i thought that date was yesterday 🙄🤔)
3. good walk by the sea
4. trip to the pub for tea (fish pie was not on, so had yummy liver). good chat with friends and two exciting footie matches at the same time! And being able to go to and fro by car rather than my bike.
5. OH sent me a picture of DS with his cousin's little children. They apparently just gravitated towards him - even though he doesn't much like (know what to do with really) little kids. OH's nose was out of joint 🤣
have a lovely day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens7 -
Thank you, VJsmum.
I drove past again today. The house (and those around it) has a sticking out section - like a bay window but from ground to roof - with a damp patch under one of the windows. I don't know why I'm worried as my house is basically one big patch of damp!
I noticed the house opposite is replacing part of that section with insulation and waterproofing. Sent a photo to my brother. In unlikely news, he and dad spent the morning researching the materials used and where else the water might be coming from. I can't remember my dad spending more than 5 minutes discussing anything pertaining to me before.
I've made an offer...
It's been a really weird week.8 -
Hi.
Busy, busy so you'll be relieved just some very quick pleasures from me today:
1) Finished one of my books ready to go back to the library but four more to collect!
2) Hair cut, not a pleasure having it done but it looks so much better and that's it for this year.
3) Walked again and wore my walking boots as still a bit wary after my big fall and there are lots of slippery leaves around. It worked, I felt much more confident.
4) Son and hubby are working so hard on the bathroom to bedroom conversion, they are both extremely capable and between them are doing a great job. It was a ridiculously large bathroom so will make a lovely sized bedroom when it's done. New clear window was fitted today to replace the frosted one and it makes such a difference - it is now a room with a view!
5) Because of 4) I offered to feed the grandsons tonight. Goodness, they have hollow legs, ate everything and seemed to enjoy it. I'm a bit of a feeder so had made lemon buns and white choc chip cookies just in case they had any room left after tea - and they did, luckily. They are all tired after a busy week so with nice full tummies they should sleep like logs tonight.
Not looking forward to tomorrow, it's my mum's birthday and she would have been 94 tomorrow. Our first without her, miss her so much. Ah well, it will come and it will go. We have plans and aim to keep very busy, it's also 3 weeks from her birthday to Christmas Eve!
Have a good weekend.

3) Went to the library to renew my books. Totally forgot I owe the man 45p for printing last week.
4) Went to Waitrose. Phoned with my offer for The House. Sat in a stupor afterwards and had 2 pots of tea. Finished my Tom Allen autobiography.
5) Tasty tea of lamb koftas, potatoes and roast carrots. Peaches and yoghurt for pudding.
6) Watched the football (Switzerland v Croatia)
7) Our local team drew, which is better than they have been doing...
8) Will watch the Last Leg just now.8 -
