Good afternoon. Very grey and drizzly
Paulie Herts. Glad you're enjoying God's Own County. York is fabulous at Christmas time, even though it is busier than ever.
D Doll. You are as busy as a busy bee! ( but still fit in watching football too😀)
Yesterday DD and DGD came here and we made a wreath each. We bought the rings and the moss but virtually everything else was free. Foliage from the garden, old baubles etc and ribbon from my stash. They look really good and we had a great afternoon with Christmas songs and lots of laughter. A new tradition, I hope.
Yoga today. Not as many folk as usual. Perhaps all prepping for Christmas!
Just need to mend DD's blouse ( pearls unattached round the collar!) then I can start sorting out for our trip. We're going to Germany to the Christmas markets. I'm really looking forward to that as we've never been to any of the towns before so even if we get fed up of the markets, there'll be lots to explore. Don't suppose DH will get fed up of bratwurst!
Happy grey day everyone

Hello. Hello. ( two days worth)
Well the joy that is the fact my working week is over! Hurrah! Crazy day yesterday and a more pleasant day today.Tips in the tip jar though I see the window cleaner has been and I owe two lots so that might just take the jam jar!Good company today. Mondays always my favourite day anyway. Chatted to a couple of people I know. Then stayed on to decorate in a seasonal manner…I may have came home with more glitter on me than I should have!Home with more in my bag than I went in with! Baker gave me some jars of homemade chutney. Colleague who I share books with gave me a book…we just say pass it on. She thought I’d already passed that one on to her. A couple of ornamenty things that I can either keep or charity ( were originally from a charity shop anyway ( our shop decor) Little flowery teapot I might put in the garden. And a tin of paint wax for working on tonight.Home and it was blooming freezing inside as well as outside as DD2 didn’t put the heating on and just too cold not to. Gritter lorry has already been out. Lovely welcome home from the doggy. Had some rice and salad for tea. Hot shower and jammies on then I think I’ll just climb in to bed.7 -

Hello.
Strange couple of days, feeling a bit stressy for no particular reason. Lots going on and I'm not really in control of much of it, it's all sort of happening around me, nothing particularly bad but unsettling sitting on the sidelines waiting to see how things pan out. Grrr...deep breath and move on, what will be will be and all that.
Anyway, to some pleasures:
1) Talking to the boys about Christmases gone by and some of the toys we received as presents. They remember playing with my Pelham puppets when they were little, very carefully and under supervision as the strings were the very devil to sort if they got tangled. Fritzi and Mitzi are still packed up from our move, must get them out. Littlest grandson's face was a picture when I was trying to describe Mr Potato Head - yes, you did stick the glasses, eyes, moustaches and hats on a real potato!!!!!!
2) Did what I always do when I am feeling out of sorts, stacks of baking, not a single egg left in the house now so had to resort to making oat biscuits in the end. Felt somewhat soothed by the end of that marathon session.
3) Three books on the go at the moment so I am alternating between them. All good but I wish I had finished one before starting the others!
4) Managed to get quite a few pressies wrapped while tea was cooking. Not my favourite job so I have to do it when the mood takes me and I have a time limit.
5) Went through a stack of old photos of my mum and dad and us as young children. Really didn't want to but I am meeting up with my sister and sister-in-law and one of my mum and dad's carers who they were really fond of and she was lovely with them. A very special person and we said we wanted to keep in touch so are meeting up for lunch. I said I would bring some photos and she is really keen to see them and to get to know more about mum and dad and their lives when they were younger. My mum and dad would be so pleased to know we are doing this so that's the pleasure eventhough going through the photos added to my unsettled feeling.
6) A final, uncomplicated pleasure for today - my roses are just gorgeous, cream buds that are turning to pink as they open. Really pretty.
Right, that's me done for the day, bed beckons. Night night.10 -
Hope you're OK, Highdays.
Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep, and even a little lie in!
2) Smaller son could not be forced to go to the Job Centre but they dealt with it over the phone instead.
3) I rejected the offer a prospective buyer made for my house. Have heard nothing further.
4) I had to sort out a horrible problem yesterday (to do with somewhere I work) and the person dealing with it sent me a message today.
5) Went to Ludlow, looked round the charity shops and went to Sainsburys.
6) Did the base sauce for a curry tomorrow that we will have during the Wales and England match...
7) Watched 24 Hours in Police Custody.9 -
For yesterday,
Lovely sunrise and some sunshine, makes such a difference.
Trip into horsey town, dropped a bag into the BHF shop and picked up a couple of books, did a food shop as well.
Making arrangements so small dog can stay with a friend next year when we are off to Manchester for the Ashes.
Over to see pony, she was still out so popped on big boots and got her in from very muddy field, she even had some in her eyelashes, oh well keeps me busy!
Tea was pasta with salmon & fennel then tested the little grey cells with UC.8 -
Good afternoon. Very grey again.
S Sue - hope all went well at the doctor's and that you have a good plan of action.
Not much happening here except prepping for our trip away. So much more difficult to pack for a winter trip, but definitely not complaining
Added the lights to my wreath and put it in place by the front door. It looks good. It's a bit of a standing joke that DD goes for a neat symmetrical look, whereas mine is more 'natural' ( scruffy!) Both look very festive though.
Hole in the road ( after burst pipe number three) has now been filled in. Looks a bit better but after three leaks/ bursts in different places, our little street looks like a very untidy patchwork quilt
Leftovers for tea. See what interesting combinations we can find.
Happy Tuesday everyone.8 -
A very misty day in Yorkshire today, but still beautiful.
We went to York yesterday and managed the Minster and some of the Christmas market. All Very lovely. Had to cut it short though as I was struggling to walk and could hardly move to get over to the car at the park and ride ☹️
Today we went for a really good 3 course lunch at a pub in Old Malton. It was delicious and as it was the senior citizen menu, very good value. We were on our way to Castle Howard at Christmas 🎄, which was beautiful. Again walking was extremely difficult but we did get the tractor and carriage ride up to the main house. It was the main reason we booked our week away in Yorkshire, you can see it on tv on channel 4 next Saturday.

Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Bigger son started his new job. They are installing a few hundred tree guards at a nearby stately home. His arms ache this evening.
3) My possible buyer has not responded with a further offer for my house, which is a worry. I looked round a house this morning, which was exciting. I liked the house (though much work to be done on it) but not a particularly interesting area. I will go back and have a second look.
4) Went to Waitrose for a cup of tea. Went to Homesense to look for decorations but didn't buy any.
5) Finished making a massive curry, rice and naans.
6) My brother came over and we all watched the England v Wales game. Sad for Wales and also for Iran.
