LaineyT said:Hope DD is just busy but doing ok.
1) Last Saturday I met an ex colleague for lunch in Perth - it was absolutely lovely to see her and she is loving being now in a role where she works normal hours, does a good job and has weekends to herself
2) She gave me a beautiful pair of earrings to celebrate my becoming a Professor(I immediately put them on and managed to leave the James Webb earrings in the bag with the card in the restaurant down by the wall side of the chair)
3) after 3.5 hours we went out the restaurant, her to her car me to the train and bumped into a friend of mine who i have been guilty about not finding time to meet for some time (is there a theme here of being 'too busy'?!) - she and her husband were off to the Perth Christmas lights celebration so I joined them - great fun, bands and fireworks and a very welcome lift home
4) DD2 works in Perth so was able to collect my James Webb earrings hooray
5) mum is cooking my dinner every evening which is very welcome (also giving me lifts in which is not so good as step count reduced, knee sore and weight going up again and the fridge is now overfull so still need a bit of readjusting but overall good)
Oh and son came home with his gf last night - she was up for graduation - made me sort guest single bed for me (they had mine) - duvet and decent pillows found - so mine and guest bed now toasty

Good to ‘see’ you DD.
Up early this morning and out with the doggy. We posted DD1 Christmas card. Hopefully it gets sent on its way before the next strike day. Then off to fat club. Lost 3lbs. I’ll take that! Such a nice bunch of folk there.Went to L!dl then big supermarket. Bought an air fryer. More later! And lots of veggies.Home briefly then in to town with DD2 as she was getting her eyes tested and I’d said I’d get her new specs for her Christmas however her old prescription will do and they are going to replace faulty frames free of charge! So that saved some money.Drove out to big retail park. It was heaving! Bought a wicker tree skirt at next but will have to return as it’s too wee even though it’s huuuge!Came home and decided to put tree up. And yes I know it’s not quite the month to do it in but I’m feeling a bit like I seriously want to hibernate and wake up in Spring. So it’s up and it’s pretty and it’s huge! It’s 8 foot tall and about 8 foot wide hence tree skirt not fitting. So I put on a Christmas hymn playlist on Spotify and I sobbed as I always do when I put there tree up. It’s so weighed with memories. And I made myself a salad and finely sliced potatoes and put them in the air fryer and made chips for tea! Rock and roll on a Saturday night! And I’m sat with my book on my new chair and feet up on my new footstool and my tree lights a-twinkling with a doggy at my side ( in his bed…absolutely not getting on this chair!) candles are lit and it’s blowing a wee hooly outside so it’s just as well I’m inside.Trying to be grateful for what I’m fortunate to have whilst I’m missing what I don’t have ( who not what)
And sigh…quickest set of days off ever!7 -

Hey DD, sounds like a busy old time. For yesterday,
Out to the yard earlier than normal as livery meeting, owner is replacing all fencing and things will be muddled for a few weeks but worth it and it’s a bit of a novelty for me that an owner is doing essential maintenance as that was sadly lacking at other place, good stuff!
Home, made a loaf plus a mincemeat cake.
Listened to the footie, oh dear and the Admiral’s team knocked us out of the cup!
The treat of a Chinese takeaway for tea.
It was a mild evening but rain lashing down, small dog did the quickest dash out into the garden for last wee!7 -
and then, meaning to update you yesterday, realised i'd left my charger at work and laptop flat d'oh. Went to fetch it on way back from church
Haven't braved putting up the tree yet Mhags - we need to go through mum's and my stuff and see what we're keeping, what can go to the charity shop (so needs doing this week!) and what goes to the tip. but for yesterday
1) brunch with friends - was supposed to be goodbye to one going to live near her son but her house sale (due to move Monday) had fallen through noooooo. but we had a lovely catch-up
2) just as we were leaving DS messaged to say he and his gf were eating lunch across the road so joined them
3) DS wanted a haircut and his gf wanted to buy a gift for a friend so we did a little tour of my fave gift shops while DS was in the barber's. I bought a lovely fairtrade parasol with paper elephants hanging from it - no idea where i'm going to put it but it makes me very happy
4) walked DS & gf to the station with the dogs, hugs all round then walked the boys back along the Tay - goodness I've missed that
5) Dr M had recommended SAS Rogue Heroes so after an early supper lit the candles and watched the first 3 episodes - very much enjoying it

<<creeps back in...>> hello all, it's been quite a while..11 days in fact
Pleasures in that time
1. lots of football. I think it being in the winter means i've been much more likely to watch it.
2. As another hibernator, Mhags, it's a pleasure when i force myself out and have had some good walks with friends and with OH
3. Putting a bit more effort into food - including today's brisket in the slow cooker
4. Walked 26 miles of Wales Coast Path last weekend, on Anglesey. And a good meal out on Saturday night. the weather stayed kind.
5. Watching my greys grow in in my hair. I'm happy with how it's going and the colour coming through. Have decided to separately save the money i'm saving in not dyeing it.
6. Nice meal out in the pub with friends last weekend, improved by the fact that dominating friend was not there. Made even better because the fish pie was on special again
7. MOre food news - excellent family curry and film night last night.
8. TIdying up the dumping ground office, even better DD took off the PS2 and all its games.
9. Good meeting with some women in the industry about how i might use my PhD research (and theirs in a combined 'thing')
10. Matilda at the cinema.
Have a great evening all - really must try to do better.
I wanna be in the room where it happens6 -
waves to vjsmum (I was awol for ahem 4 weeks) I admit to getting into the WC bop
1) first day of advent - purple was worn
2) spent afternoon with DD2 in town - was going in to buy a pair of shoes, bought some Christmas earrings then we went to waterstones to look at the books and have a cuppa - totally forgot the shoes!
3) then back to the cathedral for the candlelit advent service (we welcomed the Ukrainian community to do their own service between our two so the cathedral has had a busy day which is how it should be)
4) had taken a cheese sarnie with me which I ate after light refreshment at the cathedral - chorister who is also final year medic introduced me to his mum and his grandparents - he wants me to read his name out at graduation next June - said i would be on the stage but should be the dean who reads out the names (sweet though)
5) then up to mennies for the Germany Spain game with Mr M and Dr M.
And now in bed with a cup of tea and the archers.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to town and finished my book in a cafe. Went to Sainsburys.
3) Bought the first stocking fillers and one small Christmas present!
4) Made a roast dinner.
5) Saved from my usual social ineptness by someone helpful.
6) Phoned my school friend.8 -
Enjoying our holiday in Yorkshire.
On Saturday we went to Nunnington Hall, a NT house which was doing Christmas through the Ages, very enjoyable and interesting to see decorations from our childhood and old toys and games.
In the evening we had dinner at the pub in Sutton on Derwent, the village where we used to stay when we came up here, good to go back.
Yesterday we had a lazy morning then went to the restaurant at the golf club where we are staying in our cottage. Excellent roast beef lunch. In the afternoon/evening we lit the log burner and ate Christmas 🎄 chocolates and drank a Baileys in its glow! A pretty perfect Sunday!
Today we are using the nearby park and ride to go into York to visit the Minster and Christmas 🎄 market. Hope my wonky legs hold up!
have a good Monday everyone 😊7 -
For yesterday,
Bacon butties and catching up on all things Ambridge.
Hoovered out car and wiped down inside windows.
Laughing at ISIHAC.
Instead of our usual Sunday lunch I did a later high tea instead, Turkey & cranberry rolls, cheese scones, sausage rolls and mincemeat cake, we laid it out on the coffee table and grazed when we fancied it, very tasty.
Enjoyed the Germany Spain game.6
