Oh Lors! Relegated to page two again!
Good afternoon. And it's not raining!
DH birthday on Wednesday so lunch at our favourite fish and chip restaurant. Gosh, prices have gone up there! But I do appreciate all their costs will have too. We'll still go, for a treat, but perhaps not quite so often.
And then last night, out for an Indian meal with DD and partner, still celebrating the birthday. Lovely food, charming waiters, and prices seemed more like our previous visit there.
We've been watching Wisting. A bit late to this party, and will have to get a move on as Series One vanishes in a few days, but we are enjoying it.
Christmas present buying gradually taking shape. All the shops have gone Christmas mad, but I keep reminding myself there's another 5 weeks yet.
Home made potato and cauli soup for tea. Be a nice change after two days of meals out.
Happy teatime everyone7 -
I think we are very quiet around these parts! Hope everyone is okay and just caught up in real life!Rainy start and then it brightened up. Very quick doggy walk early on then went back up to bed and finished the book I started yesterday.
Sold mum’s wheelchair ( hurrah!) so dropped that off. Had nice chat with the people who’ve bought it ( known them a long time so was nice to have a catch up).Went to my work for lunch. I get staff discount so that was very welcome! And I left a tip 😆Home and grabbed a doggy to go in the car and we went to big park in town. Thankfully no other doggies near us. Very muddy underfoot but a low sun was bright in the sky.Home and went back into garage and in an attempt to clear some space ( pffft so much of everyone else’s stuff it’s ridiculous) collected some Christmas stuff I don’t need. A lot of it was from when I lived in a big old house in Australia with lots of big rooms and deep window sills…not forgetting the cupboard space to hide it all away in!) put it up for free collection on our local FB page and someone coming for it tomorrow.Log fire on and candles lit and all very cosy downstairs ( will be blooming freezing when I go upstairs!)
A good day.7 -
Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Cleaned the house as the estate agent told me someone was coming for a viewing. Hoovered and steamed the floors downstairs, moved my bedroom furniture round again, emptied the bins, tidied the garden, cleaned the kitchen...
3) Took smaller son to McDonalds while the estate agent was here and messaged bigger son to stay away for an hour!
4) Went for a walk behind the Safari Park. Spoke to a nice lady with 2 small dogs. The lions roared a lot.
5) The estate agent phoned and said it was the same lady looking round my house for the second time and her mortgage had been approved! Got to see if she will make an offer now.
6) Had a tasty tea.
7) I'm a Celebrity later.7 -
For yesterday,
Slightly slower start as Capt S had the day off.
Into Bury St Ed for a visit, cold walk around the Abbey gardens followed with a quick mooch around the shops but nothing caught our fancy, did note down a few book titles for pressie ideas.
Lunch out was nice though and lovely to take our time over meal, dropped into farm shop on way home but was heaving due to Christmas barn being open.
Small dog pleased to see us, quick walk around the fields.
Am enjoying my latest book, a detective story set in Bamburgh, happy memories of our holiday in Northumberland.7 -
Morning all, hope our MIA are okay.
Pleasures this week:
2 oldest friends round for Chinese and chat, always a great evening 😊
Sister came on Wednesday and we wandered round town and the market, stopping for gyros lunch at local Turkish cafe.
Managed 40 lengths at swimming this week.
Exercise class on Friday then Picked friend up and went to local gardens for a jacket potato 🥔 lunch and a wander on the one of the few dry days this week.
Bad news is my visit to the dentist resulted in being told I have to have 2 teeth out, a wisdom tooth and one next to it, my absolute worst fear ☹️
Have a great weekend everyone 😊7 -
Captains' Log!
Hope all are well in the Parish.Your version of life at the Captains' Table!
Bin busy this weak with the job at the Tower. All is good as it is inn on the Tuesday and WfH the other days. Pension is growing as well! Mined you Kitty is quiet licking mes work inn from home as she gets lots of attention!
Watched a couple of good flix on the mouse streamer (We has it three until December 7). All of my Heart. Not abit Jenny, butt good and Idiocracy. Not often the Admiral watches a SciFi, butt how apt this one is! Filmed inn 2006. It is about how a society becomes like sheep to the media, and are unable to think for themselves! Well worth a pick. Too think it came out be four unsocial media as well!
Did the same as I has done every year since 1982, and because I do not watch MSM, see above, raised SFA again for the b list celebs wanting the single mum on the checkout to part with a bigger lot of her money while they get paid. Remember the host bagged five figures in one show while she had to strive for a year to get the same!
So instead I tuck the Albatross out yesterday on Date Nite at our local Italian Cafe. Very good, wobbleades were taken and glad rags were worn!
Was out early to the discount surplus store and gets the provisions inn for the weak. Fruit salads and they had lots of eggs! No media induced crisis there!
Home for the usual SatDay brakefest. Snorker, best back. Chopped mushrooms, fryed tates, tomato bombs (Large toms) and poached egg. Very good, served with a mug off tee as well!
Cleared the yard of leafs with the Albatross. Our tree of cheery is take inn its time to drop her leafs this year. Yard lucks good this year again. I has two buck a dump run!
PM2DD Cant get interested in the WC. Boycott Qatar!
That is all!
Jen sends her
Edit!
PM2DD You can have your loan player back, thank you!
I work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!5 -
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep, despite having a bit of a cold.
2) Bigger son and I went to the nearest town and had a breakfast in the cafe where his friend and his friend's mum work.
3) Went for a walk for about an hour and saw a kingfisher. We then cut through by bigger son's old high school and the asylum seeker team were playing football on the field against a local side! We did not want to distract them so kept walking. Lovely weather today.
4) Got my dad's other birthday present (already bought a book) and picked up my mum's birthday book from the little bookshop.
5) Bigger son then went off to see his friend. I went to M and S as I had a online voucher for a free loaf of bread.
6) Had various interesting messages from people during the afternoon.
7) Went for another walk! A walk we used to do a lot but I hadn't done since before the pandemic. Another 3 miles covered this afternoon. I saw a barn owl, heard a tawny owl and finally my ancient boots disintegrated.
8) Phoned my mum and it had been high drama there as she had flushed the toilet and the handle had snapped off and it had KEPT FILLING. The stop tap had corroded so she had to try and catch the water in a bowl and throw it in the bath. Eventually the water went right across the bathroom floor and into the hallway. Luckily dad appeared at that point and managed to turn the water off.
9) Used today's rare burst of energy to change the bunkbeds this afternoon.
10) I'm a Celebrity to watch later and a new series of Casualty.6 -
I have apparently miffed off my brother’s wife, so SIL, who is being “passive-aggressive” to me, and I literally have no idea how, the fun of family-honestly! Insert swear words here. I don’t tolerate this sort of naff stuff well, I am a blunt tell me what the £$% is up?
1 We picked up dh’s car all repaired and valeted!!!!
2 I see the fire stick has become available on a BF deal; I’ve had that in my list for a while now.
3 Cleaned the whole house, only noticed as I was doing it some bits of wall need sugar soaping so hoovered, mopped and then sugar soaped the bits that needed doing.
4 I ran out of steam for meal planning as I forgot to take bits out of the freezer, so tonight is straight from the freezer, fish, beans and stuffed jacket. i.e. leftover party food.
1 I deep cleaned all the ornament shelving, there was one fatality a dolphin glass oil glamp in a gazillion pieces, I even did my nemesis, the glass display units and all ornaments.
2 I was going to order in but locally doesn’t cope well on Saturday nights, so we did the freezer again which gave us garlic bread, then sausages, chips and poached egg.
3 Quality time playing with the animals, dug out a tiny radio control car, and they chased it everywhere.
4 Numerous wash loads achieved and tidied away

For yesterday,
Nice lie-in, always better in a changed bed!
Out to cathedral city to visit market, got some cheese plus satsumas etc.
Lunch was butternut squash soup with cheesey croutons as we were cold after being out.
Headed over to the yard, pony was anxious to come in and what with her next door neighbour doing zoomies in her field it made for an exciting walk back into the yard, washed down her legs and gave her some hay. Good laugh with fellow owners.
Home, tea was chicken curry with chickpea dhal, enjoyed Strictly and then played cards.6 -
Good afternoon. It's bright and sunny! First time in ages.
Recorded Strictly and then couldn't be bothered to watch it! I'm struggling to distinguish between contestants, except for Hamza ( and he's a treat!) Probably my fault because I fast-forward so much to avoid the sob stories and the screeching!
Started to watch Ancient Apocalypse. Fascinating ( and no screeching!)
Advent calendar coming along. There's a lot of ironing, which is not my favourite activity but I'm getting there.
DS visited yesterday with DG children. That was a lovely surprise.
Nice lazy Sunday here .
Happy Sunday everyone
