1 Good grief, DH was in deep conversation with a door cold caller who had always wanted ferrets.
2 Leftovers, both put into soup for lunch and the rice is with the build your own wraps tonight. Trying to clear down a freezer I’ve said no more shopping until its done, but I swear there’s another 2 weeks’ worth of bits in there, while I shouldn’t be complaining I know.
3 More tidying and clearing this time the office, where I had let documents pile, sorted into have to file this and rubbish thrown out. Can you believe we still have a fax machine in the office!!!, we’ll add it to the tip run this week. I still need to file the pile away!!!
4 Sitting here chopping up ferret treats as they managed to look very dejected when I ran out of them earlier.
5 Saved in hairdressing costs, refreshed my memory via you tube and it helped.

Good morning. Persistent rain here. Been very gloomy and misty for the last few days so perhaps this will clear it.
Ahoy there, Admiral.
S Sue, still thinking of you. More hugs.
Random pleasures
Bought a pre printed Advent calendar with little pockets to sew on. We saw one, completed, in a garden centre for £40! This will cost less than half that, and will keep me quiet for a while too.
DGD came to do some homework. Romeo and Juliet. That didn't take long then we had a lovely morning catching up.
Made a meat loaf in the slow cooker. Very yummy and lots left over.
The water board came and filled in the hole in the road so I thought it safe to use the water stored in pans etc ( we're not on a meter but it didn't seem right to just throw it away) Two days later, on the other side of the street, some telecoms people drilled down and hit a water pipe!! Stream running down the street again and filled pans and buckets all over the house! Never a dull moment.
Happy quiz day ( Tuesday is the new Monday😂)8 -
Ha indeed HappyCas, very confusing!
For yesterday,
Dropped car off at garage for MOT & service, initially they said all ok but then found a corroded coolant hose so will need to keep until part arrives, ooh it’s been an expensive little mini this year but guess nearly 13 years old.
Food shopping and restorative coffee after receiving the above phone call.
Borrowed beloved’s car and went over to see pony, surprised the resident hare again, beautiful.
Made a loaf and roasted a big batch of veg.
Tea was salmon and RV pasta, then settled down with a book.7 -
A very quiet day today. Obviously my body decided I needed a restorative day.Read for much of it.
Tuesday tea was sausages, mashed potatoes and the potato skins baked in the oven at same time as sausages. With sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli and carrots. And a wee slice of very RTC chocolate cake. And then friend took the rest of the cake home with her. Nice evening just chatting.9 -
Pleasures for today
1. phone call from local college, can you bring Mabel in at 9 for her dog grooming appointment-up early - she looks beautiful and 1st appointment was free.
2. Went food shopping early - fridge restocked.
3. enchiladas for tea
4. pre op appointment given for shoulder surgery - no date for op yet. Good news is been waiting 3 years for this. However meant to be driving up north for Christmas as not working this year. If appt before Christmas then it appears I can’t drive for 6 weeks.
5. Rain stopped this afternoon. In bed as up early as back to work tomorrow.9 -
Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Good to get up, after almost no sleep.
2) Bigger son and I went to canal town. Looked round the charity shops (nothing doing there), then the outdoors shop for whetstones but they were too pricey. Then to Aldi where we not only got everything we needed but they also had the £1.50 box of seconds fruit and veg.
3) Bigger son and I made lunch from scratch. Coleslaw plus potato salad (getting a bit mayo heavy there but it was nice!) Bigger son made his signature chicken thighs with lime to go with it.
4) Another potential buyer is booked in for this Friday. This does entail cleaning the house from top to bottom again.
5) Bigger son and I went for a walk.
6) Had a reply to my email just as I got back to the car after our walk. I nearly had something in my eye! I asked our football club if they might have any new or old football kit or clothing for the asylum seekers, not really expecting a response. (I asked one of the players, who is ambassador for the club). I received a lovely reply and he is going to go through his wardrobe then ask all the other players and staff to do the same and see what they can come up with.
7) Smaller son and I made beans on toast for tea. The kitchen and living room are now looking very clean after I washed up then pootled round, lit only by the light of smaller son's PC monitor. I didn't realise I had sliced my finger on bigger son's new kitchen knife he bought whilst in Switzerland so I had left a trail everywhere I had been! At least everything is clean now and the sofa throw has been through the washing machine!
8) Watched I'm a Celebrity.7 -
For yesterday,
Grey, miserable day with heavy rain, the house was cold with no sun coming in so had a mug of bovril to warm me up.
Borrowed beloved’s car to visit elderly friend in hospital, she’d had an operation after a nasty fall last week and was feeling a bit low. I was just about to walk onto the ward when my phone rang, it was the garage to say my car was ready for collection so lovely Capt S walked down to pick it up.
On to the yard, the ponies had had a duvet day after the horrendous rain so gave my lady an in-hand walk to stretch her legs.
Easy tea of veggie burgers with cauliflower cheese.
Watched the final of GBBO and not surprised at the winner, personally I don’t think the standard has been quite as high this year but that said they are all much better bakers than I could ever be!

Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Had various plans for the day. Drove to nearest town. As I came to the junction to the lane for the car park, a car was stopped in the road with a lady lying in the road in front of it, trying to get up. I managed to squeeze my car over on the side of the road. The car had waved the lady across (not hit her) so she had crossed then fallen up the kerb on her head. The car driver refused to put her in his car, saying his insurance wouldn't cover it. She wouldn't get in my car. She was on blood thinners so it was all getting rather dramatic. Everyone else walked off, cars pushed their way past the car that was still in the middle of the road. In the end, I walked the lady to the medical centre, which took several minutes though it was within view. Nothing could be done to stop the bleeding but she was very calm so we just walked slowly and cracked a few jokes.
We got to the medical centre and she wanted to join the queue (!) so I got her to sit down and found a receptionist (friend of bigger son's, so we said a cheery hello). She was called in to a room within 30 seconds and waved me goodbye saying, "This is is a good way to get an immediate appointment" !
3) Went to the library afterwards.
4) B and Q for the necessary mould killer for the ceilings upstairs.
5) Went round the charity shops and found a tunic top and a book about Sudan. A lady I used to work with was volunteering in one of the shops so I spoke to her for a while.
6) Went to the book shop for my parents' birthday books.
7) Went to the museum cafe as it WASN'T RAINING and read a bit of my library book.
8) Back home and I have been given 2 days of exam invigilation next week. Said yes to both.
9) Took smaller son to McDonalds.
10) Will watch I'm a Celebrity later on.8
