Frith - 👍for🧐🥸👁today.
1. Sue - our lovely vic, your namesake😇, re-wound yesterday's midweek service screenshot, so & could post it here.
2. Thanks also given for T, whose Wednesday birthday really was a wish and a prayer a year ago.
3. Preview blahblah just about through. Tonight's FNL - double match rollout, U14 and U16 girls. Turbulent week at Peacock HQ behind the scenes. And, @1415h, see nothing published yet! Dkw. Best do some urgent scouting.😬🧐
4. Learnt of Ancients' Tuesday discount, 10% off everything, inc. rtc's at FW and🧊land, so shopped for others and self. Yet again, all staff were unfailingly kind and efficient, with many smiles. It is a pleasure to go there. & told them so, meaning more smiles.🙂
5. It's been a truly hideous fortnight, but - 🙏 - a something done yesterday, legal witnessing wotnottery, lifts load somewhat. NZ funeral plan remittance still unforgivably delayed.

Pleasures for yesterday (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went round the charity shops in canal town, but didn't buy anything. Moved smaller son's geocache as it was within 200 metres of an existing geocache so it couldn't be published.
3) Went for a walk to the old army camp.
4) Made a broccoli and pasta cheese for tea.
5) Went to the hotel for games evening. I played 2 games of chess (over an hour and a quarter) and I liked to imagine someone had filmed an aeriel time lapse video showing 30 men moving from table to table, playing different games, but me and my 2 opponents not moving at all! Very occasionally we would look up if there was a lot of cheering after snakes and ladders and I was vaguely aware of one table playing a game with hand bells (!) The second guy had been watching the first game, nodding and smiling politely. After 10 minutes he said, "You must play seriously, I won't learn unless you do". I had been playing seriously! Shatranj is about the only Arabic word I know. No one understands my phrases in Farsi.
6) Watched I'm a Celebrity.7 -
1 DH’s car went in for its MOT.
2 Popped out for a few errands, pharmacy, car wash, dropped clothes to clothes bank/box thing for the Salvation Army, popped into the post office to return a top. While in the pharmacy, they are trialling a sugar free range and asked me to try the jam and marmalade, perfect.
3 More people popped over to pick up some bits I’m giving away, it’s funny it’s still a bit emotional, but not in a bad way I’m glad things are finding their way to new homes at last rather than stored away in boxes.
4 Lunch was chicken in a wrap, and dinner was steak, veg and chips, it’s many years since we’ve had a steak, but I found them clearing down the freezer. I never say I can cook, but the exception is - I can cook the perfect steak, if I do say so myself.
5 That feeling when an animal chooses you to cuddle, and you are then there for as long as they choose.a
6 Okay, it’s possible I am looking at cherry amaretto candy canes, but I haven’t bought them….

Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Cleaned the whole house (again) for the potential buyers.
3) Bigger son and his girlfriend appeared for a chat. Bigger son has fabricated all the patches he needs to weld on his van so it will pass its MOT.
4) Smaller son and I went out while the buyers looked round. The estate agent then emailed me accidentally, rather than the buyers. She gave them various details they had asked her for so they can't have said "no" straight away!
5) Bigger son then reappeared and we went for a walk and bought a few curry ingredients before making one of his posh curries.
6) We watched I'm a Celebrity.
7) In bed with 2 hwb now in a very clean house and about to watch HIGNFY.7 -
Pleasures over last few days
1. nights finished this morning, slept about 4 hours today and now ready to sleep again.
2. Finished watching the Cause of Death documentary, very moving, has a little cry but a good insight into the work that is done by the staff that work in the coroners office.
3. Cottage pie for tea or breakfast in my case.
4. lovely walk with the doggie, met another lady on the field with her dog, the dogs enjoyed a play for about an hour.5. A nice dry day, nice change from the rain.7 -
Morning ! Was up and out early this morning for a quick stint at work. Quick doggy walk in the pouring rain.
Yesterday was up and out early. Drove to other end of town as I’d a £5 off a £40 spend at l!dl. So calculator and I went round. Got lots of RTC meat that’s now in freezer. And lactose free milk that’s 90p a carton cheaper here than where I usually shop!Home and filled car to go to the tip. Not been since I was clearing mums house in the summer.Cut the back grass! It should have been done when I was away but as it’s only me that cuts it it obviously wasn’t. But we have had so much rain since I got back and not enough dry. Anyway. It’s done…and then the rain came back on!Popped in to work to check that what I thought I was doing today was all I thought I was doing! Someone had been asking for me and were still there so had a chat with them. Then on way back to car met someone else so chatted with them.Read for a while.Went to bed early as I was getting up early and generally felt a bit blah.8 -
For yesterday,
Since we got a new rug for our bedroom small dog now comes upstairs when she hears me get in the shower and lays on it, waiting for me.
Changed the bed then baking, made a loaf and some sultana scones.
Cut back the buddleia, about a third as recommended by MD, don’t usually bother until the spring but he explained about wind damage etc, mild and sunny so a pleasure to be out.
Capt S came home early so we had tea & scones.
Then later, pepperoni and sweet potato hash which was yum.
Quick congrats to Ampersand as just watched the black ferns beat our ladies, great match.7 -
Hello again.
Was surprised when I read my last post back at how mardy I was feeling. Turned out I was, as my mum used to say, 'sickening for something' and that was why I was feeling down and sorry for myself. So, long story short, I finished up having to ring 111 and spent Thursday night at A&E. Total nightmare, felt wretched and had to sit on a hard plastic seat from 9.30pm til 8.45 the following morning. I know the NHS are doing the best they can but can't remember when I've ever felt so rotten.
So, my pleasures:
1) I (finally) got seen and got the meds I needed which are now kicking in and I'm starting to feel better.
2) Hubby was his usual tower of strength and sat all night with me with not a single complaint. Thank heavens he was there to sort all the admin, car parking and so forth and for not leaving my side.
3) My own bed when I finally got home, and the peace and quiet after a night of fighting and shouting in A&E (not by me I might add but the place seemed to be full of police and security staff - quite scary).
4) Nothing urgent to be done, it can all wait.
5) At least I found out why I was out of sorts, for a day or so beforeheand I had felt really quite odd and spaced out but hadn't put two and two together to work out why. Still not right but on the mend and feeling more like self again, if still quite a fragile version!
So pleasures can be found, even in extreme circumstances!
Have a good weekend, stay healthy and well if you can.6 -
Highdays - we would say "you were coming down with something". Glad you were seen in the end.
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Porridge for breakfast.
3) Bigger son and I went to look round a house for sale. It was a bit weird because it was absolutely identical to the house I lived in in Nottingham. I didn't need a guided tour as I knew exactly where the pantry was, the loft hatch etc! It is almost completely original (doors, picture rails and so on) and untouched for many decades. Loads of people were booked to look around so we had to keep walking round them. Bigger son went up into the loft (tables still laid out from where the family had had a train set, years ago). It has no kitchen at all so that would need doing and the front bay seemed to be becoming unattached from the house. Big garden but overlooked from all sides, which would take some getting used to. Anyway, I can't buy it as I haven't sold my house yet.
4) We popped in to see my brother in law as bigger son hasn't seen them (or indeed any family) since he got back from his European trip.
5) I went for a walk and to find some geocaches but my heart wasn't in it so I only did a couple of miles.
6) Stopped at M and S for a cup of tea.
7) I spent an hour or so making English lesson resources whilst listening to our football team losing yet another game.
8) Will watch I'm a Celebrity later on.7 -
Saturday’s pleasures.
Up and at ‘em early for work. Was heavy rain then but it did clear up as the day progressed. Just in for an hour. I enjoy the peace and quiet in the work kitchen then. Then all dolled up! Well as much as I ever get dolled up 😆
was taking my friend for lunch as her Christmas gift and this was the only weekend she had free till then! Had a lovely chatter and lunch was nice.Home mid afternoon. And I just sat and read. Moved the dog’s bed so it was near to my new chair. I had ordered myself a new chair for the purpose of being my reading chair. And I know I can read on any other chair in the house but this one is special!Watched Strictly then bedtime.7
