For yesterday,
Housework first then cracked on with some surveys.
I have been doing a 5 day challenge for horse riders and today was an exercise task, good stuff but I’m not entirely sure a 40 something PT completely understands how it’s feels to be a 58 year old with arthritic knees but will persevere!
Lunch and then into Uni city for a haircut, good chat with lovely hairdresser and we commiserated over the complete idiot that is our local MP.
Driving home through city traffic, I did that commute for 20 odd years and the pleasure is I no longer have to.
Tea was quiche with blue cheese & leek stuffed peppers, watched GBBO followed by Alan & Miriam travelling around Scotland.8 -
For yesterday
1 went to afternoon quiz ,only 11/2 hrs but out the house and with people.
2 my team won ,
3 veg curry left over from takeaway when son and family here the week before ( been in the freezer )
4 fried a couple of sausages with it and jacket potato as couldn’t be bothered to cook rice
5 did get some washing dry before the monsoon hit again .
Thanks all7 -
Hello.
Suffolksue - lovely to 'see' you again, you have been on my mind quite a bit in the last couple of weeks, just wondering how you are and how things are going.
I will find some pleasures but recently I've been thinking there is a lot in my life to be thankful for and I am warm and doing ok - which I appreciate totally is a lot more than some can say - but I seem to be lacking in things to look forward to and fun. I'll have a think about that - because we moved just before lockdown I haven't had much of a chance to get out and about and make new friends here. Now we don't have the responsibility of the oldies I can't use them as an excuse any more either. I'll have a think and make a plan.....
So, on to some pleasures:
1) Changed the beds and remembered to turn the mattresses, been meaning to do that for ages so now feeling very housewifely and virtuous. Son had to come in to help DH with mine, it's a big mattress and weighs a ton. The pleasure is it's now done.
2) The Christmas Chronicles - always a big pleasure at this time of year and has inspired me to start my list-making in earnest.
3) For some reason there is a shortage of petrol here - not sure if it's just locally or more widespread. Couldn't get any yesterday evening and when hubby rang this morning they said they had some but would be shortly running out. Dashed off and managed to fill up but noticed when we went to the supermarket that they had none either. Strange.
4) Nice to see the sun again after a few grey, dismal days. Funny how the weather always changes around Bonfire Night and becomes decidedly more wintry. It's quite cold out up here but the sun is lovely and warm through the glass. A sit down and a read are on the cards, other stuff can wait til the sun goes in later on. Carpe Diem and all that, after all I am supposed to be retired!!
5) We have been getting on with some more work in the main house and hubby has been busy selling all sorts of 'spare' stuff very successfully which has boosted the coffers for some of the new stuff we need. Lovely things in really good condition but they just don't fit into the plan so had to go.
Right, I'm off to start planning how to get a bit more fun into my life. I'm obviously not cut out to be a domestic goddess for long - well not full-time anyway.
Enjoy your afternoon.

Plans for today changed with a phone call from garage to move MOT appointment to tomorrow.
So I then had a very quiet day.Washing almost dry.
Walked to supermarket late afternoon. Met friend stood chatting for ages then popped into friend on way back…also chatted for ages!
Made cheese on toast for tea and started a new book.8 -
Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep, though shortened at each end by a) smaller son staying up and chatting loudly to his friend online then b) bigger son getting up just slightly too early, as he always does...
2) Porridge for breakfast.
3) My sister posted my house advert on her FB page and it has received some nice comments. To me, it is a place that needs cleaning and was semi-derelict for years as I hadn't got the money to do anything. I have lots of good memories but I see the actual structure rather unfavourably at times! If anyone wants to look at the particulars, send me a message and I will post you the link.
4) Went to the nearest town and found 2 White Stuff tops. (There is only one small charity shop there but it is often very good). I have washed them, just on a quick wash, and the linen one looks a bit short. I have a weirdly long torso but little fat legs so I'm not sure it will be quite long enough. I spoke to the lady about breaking away from my "uniform" of jeans and the cycle of 3 different t shirts that I wear.
5) Went to Ludlow afterwards but found nothing in the charity shops! Spoke to Bill himself (of Bill's Kitchen) and told him I had been to his Hereford cafe a few weeks ago. I said I like the stained glass in there (it's in a church) and he said there is a particular carving to look out for.
6) Bigger son had worked on the van for a few days including changing a back light. It failed its MOT today as it needs some welding. I have asked how much welding but no reply so he is either very busy or it is so much he can't bear to tell me!
7) Stopped at the Clee Hill afterwards and walked to the summit. Photo to follow. There was a double rainbow.
8) Took smaller son to Sainsburys then we picked up a Chinese takeaway for tea.
9) In bed with 2 hwb and will watch I'm a Celebrity just now.

Fab photo Frith.
For yesterday,
Peter Kay on the R2 breakfast show, he always makes me laugh.
Starting making a list for the festive season and made a start on present buying as I’d bookmarked a couple of things during the year.
Over at the yard with pony, it’s such a friendly place to be and we do have a laugh, all that and I get to spend time with the beautiful grey one.
Driving home at dusk, with a full moon just rising on the horizon, stunning.
Tea was steak burgers with sweet potato fries, too much meat for me so small dog got some too.8 -
Car in for MOT , so dropped off at garage then walked in to town. It was so windy!Met an old work colleague so had a nice chat with her and her husband.Had a mooch around charity shops but nothing jumped out. Not that I really need anything!Picked up car.Walked round to see mums NDN for a chatter.Trying to sell mums wheelchair without much success but an old neighbour of hers ( from when I was growing up) is looking for one so gave her a call and had a lovely chat. Waiting to hear back if she wants it.Absolutely wild outside. Wind howling round the house. Glad I’m in.10

Evening all.
Nice to 'see' you SS. WHere's the admiral got to? THey been banned again?
Pleasures for Tuesday
1. Soak in the bathy and a new serial to watch
2. Lunch and a natter with friend in emaness
3. went to Symphony Hall to watch a concert - but first dinner in town courtesy of tesco vouchers
4. Sis in law came with us. we walked into symphony hall and she said 'There's my brother!'. Maybe not such a strange thing for some but brother lives just outside London, SiL lives in Oxford and they coincidentally met at SH. Further coincidence when the brother (who we know well) introduced us to a colleague "this is (we'll call him) Fred". I stare and say "You are Fred X, I worked with you on a case in 1992!!" I don't think he specifically remembered me, but did remember the case. Particularly as my then boss ended up in prison shortly after.
5. After all that excitement, the concert may have been disappointing but fortunately not.
And yesterday
1. Good walk to station and good trains to ICT (fairly incredible these days)
2. A walk by the sea
3. watched more of my serial
4. Yummy sea bass for tea
5. Watched IACGMOH - cringing and furious at Matt Hancock in turn
And today
1. did some work in prepping for next week
2. more work on upstairs room
3. did yoga
4. more sea bass (I find it easier to eat the same thing twice when i'm alone)
5. banked
Laters all.I wanna be in the room where it happens8 -
1 For yesterday, we went to the in laws and enjoyed the afternoon and evening there after a somewhat rocky journey involving closed roads and diversions over there. It was lovely to catch up again, and they were on great form. It’s nice to see everyone in a great place mentally.
2 Today, I emptied the storage shed where things I’ve inherited but didn’t know what to do with have been, I’ve kept 3 items that mean something to me and I listed the rest for free collection, and they have all been collected. They were all prints and oil paintings, I had tried to sell a few years back, but they weren’t wanted, they have been snaffled to new homes as of tonight and collected already, so I’m pleased it’s not just sitting in storage here and has moved to hopefully where they are meant to be.
3 I did food plan, but moved it to tomorrow and ordered in.
4 Completely impromptu I arranged a day out with the in laws something for us all to look forward to.
5 Our oldest ferret seems to be responding well to the antibiotics and painkillers so far.

For yesterday,
Food shopping and other chores, all the time with half an ear on TMS, in the end it was really quite easy and England are in the finals.
Sent off a couple of Ebay sales, money squirrelled away.
I’ve been trying to get in touch with my elderly friend for a few days and her daughter phoned to say that she had had a fall and was in hospital, obviously not a pleasure but lots of relief and I can visit.
Over to see pony, yard manager smiled as she said that, what with the mild weather, horsey had been out without a rug all day, I feared the worst but the mud gods were with me ☺️Leaving the yard and I could hear an owl calling from the trees.6
