Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to the optician and got my new glasses. One pair for reading things and another for watching the football! I look just like my dad with the reading glasses on and rather posh wearing the other pair.
3) On into Floody City for general looking around and a tour of the charity shops (didn't find anything). All the graduates were coming out of the cathedral and walking into town and a small girl was walking in front of me with her grandma. Every time a graduate walked past she said, "Well DONE", and all the graduates said thank you!
4) Smaller son's proper A4 GCSE certificates arrived in the post, so that wasn't a dream!
5) Tasty tea of pie, mash and purple sprouting.
6) Trying to learn some Farsi, but struggling to remember it.
7) A night of television watching awaits.7 -
1 The house is clean again, everyone has clean bedding, all relevant wash loads done, hoovered, mopped etc etc.
2 Tea will be from the freezer in clearing it down.
3 Chopped up some meat for the ferrets, arthritis is only letting me dice up 1kg at a time, it’s frustrating.
4 Did finance check and went through and tidied up finances in general
5 An online catch-up with DB.
Fot today
1 Used the MSE wilko voucher for coat hooks and bird food that we were planning to order anyway. I’m also tempted by the boots sanctuary spa half price offer as I was gifted this last year and used most and one item became a staple but I couldn’t justify the full price.
2 Dug out the Nigel Slater Christmas Chronicles, to start, but drew the line at hearing my first Christmas song on the radio, just no.
3 The freezer is working down.
4 I’ve looked for local mahjong groups, but no joy trying to learn some basics from you tube.

2. Preview done! Published!😁😇
3. Multi-requests to buy firewood, if possible, by someone. Turns out autoblip refused to allow fireWORKS. Anyway, exactly on budget 🙂:
4. Strange rtc pork ribs casserole inc. some windfall apples is 'lish+lush.😋
5. Purple Kitten - head to &'s friends in Spain. We always play mahjong. & loves it. Have a superb set, already antique, very yellowed ivory, when it came into my possession over 50years ago. Have managed to hang onto it in all my bits of world and travelling.

Hello. Late night by my standards 😆
Just in from a work event that was just lovely. Met some really nice people! Nice food too!Anyway was an early start had to defrost car this morning. Our coldest morning so far. Was nice just being in kitchen myself and being creative then leaving.
DD2 dropped me off and I walked through the woods. Just the one squirrel today but a collection of collared doves in the leaves. And four magpies.Doggy walks. Early morning whilst still dark. Late morning. Late afternoon. And a very quick walk just now.Sister and BIL arrived to stay for a couple of days.
The niecelys arrived about 6pm for an hour or so. They left just before I went out. Will see them tomorrow.
Nice night out. Bit of blethering and eating! What’s not to like!8 -
For yesterday,
Cold, cold start, good sunrise though.
Beloved had booked the day off so we treated ourselves to breakfast out, I had smoked salmon & scrambled egg bagel, very yum.
Off to nearby market town and found a small rug for our bedroom, makes it much cosier.
Rest of the day was quite lazy, watched the final two episodes of Hjersen.
Evening walk with small dog, quite light with a nearly full moon and lots of stars.
Tea was lo macaroni cheese with balsamic mushrooms.
Right, now back to the cricket, our boy Liam has just taken a great catch, red Rose.8 -
Good afternoon. Brr. Winter is coming!
Just back from the caravan. Have been over to close it down for winter😥 Always makes me feel sad, but it's good to know we can go back next March.
Had an incredibly lucky two days. Beautiful bright winter sun and although nippy, not really cold. Very calm sea too.
I love the seaside in winter when there are so few people there. It has a special beauty that can be appreciated more when it's nearly empty.
The house felt very cold when we got back. Have had to put the heating on 😱. Hopefully not for too long!
But we've both got our letters about winter fuel allowance so that will definitely help.
Happy wintry day everyone

For Saturday.Lovely peaceful walk with the dog just as daylight was keeking through this morning. Just us and the birds. How we like it.Walked with sister round past mums. She wanted to see the house. Me not so much as it’s still a bit ’new’
We then went down the woods to scatter mum’s ashes. Where she wanted them. It was lashing with rain and then lashed some more! But come spring there will be rhododendron and azalea and bluebells where she is. Final scatter was right round her favourite tree. We FaceTimed DD1 in Australia. Then we went to my very favourite place. It was atrocious! If it could go wrong it did. In the end they took off desserts and a further 10% off the bill. And surprise surprise my brother paid the whole bill! Never has anything so generous been known! Thank you!I enjoyed the company of my great niece and nephew. They are such good fun. However as always lovely to see and lovely to say goodbye!I then went for a lie down. Not really to sleep just to have a bit of peace and quiet. And blooming boom boom bang of blooming fireworks! Grrrrr! They annoy me more than they annoy the dog!9 -
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) A lie in.
2) Made a fruit flan. Haven't got round to trying a slice yet.
3) Left our new geocache by the football ground, for others to find.
4) Went to the football. Lost 2-1 but it wasn't a bad game. Happy that Alvechurch are doing so well in the FA Cup.
5) Went to Sainsburys on the way home. Looking for a sturdy chess set but nothing in there. I will have to go back to Waitrose, which was pricey.

For yesterday,
Bit of a lie-in, for me that means 7.30.
Coffee, croissants and cricket! Sat in our PJ’s and watched both innings, bit tense towards the end but England are in the next stage.
Popped out for some petrol, showered and dressed by then I might add, and filled up the mini, petrol’s ouchie again price wise so cheered myself up with buying two lemon & sultana cakes.
Over to see pony, filthy weather so settled her in stable and chatted to pals.
Snorkers for tea, watched Strictly then a few games of Yahtzee.8 -
Agreed re: petrol, Lainey - up another 3p at MrT self-serve, which & had to do a bit before finally heading back to squat at 2am today.😇
1. Her Raffle Harridaness, aka HRH😁, did her thing and decent funds were raised by all the forebearing souls at Peacock HQ. Many of the opposing team and lunch party did too. They were a really good visiting group all round and gave our 1st XV a tough match, nothing like supposed 'bottom of League' opponents.
2. Called upon the new🦚🏉Dad - big, modest and gentle off pitch - to draw the raffle, if he'd like. He did so with delight and gusto after his match. Baby EG much admired and cuddled all round by so many of our big and mighty men. Currently, we have 4 of these very new tinies at the Club and the family feeling is tangible. Competition for one to hold and marvel at is a constant.😇🥰
3. & did scoreboard too, at times: 28-19 was a good final result.
4. Bit of down time and & gave sparklers all round while watching a bit of big screen🏉. A few Phew!s but all of &'s Aotearoa teams did great things yesterday, from our Black Ferns onwards.
5. Finished night out over Gog Magogs to official relaunch of pub by another staunch🦚🏉family, with son now in Seniors. Hundreds there supporting them. Fantastic time and so glad I went.
