For yesterday,
Definitely not a pleasure but a horrendous nights sleep, painful injection site plus meant very few hours in the land of nod so nice to get up and have that first cuppa.
What with the above and a general feeling of meh decided on a quiet day at home, did get to read a lot of my current book, Girl, Woman, Other, very good.
Capt S finished the planter made from old pallets, rustic looking for sure but all wood wombled and it will do the job.
Listened to the footie, local Derby with arch rivals at their place, first in 20 odd years. We lost 0-1 but gave it a good go and look forward to the re-match at our place.
A walk with Capt S and small dog, lovely autumnal late afternoon and made the most of it before the clocks changed.8 -
D Doll - I'm a bit worried about the safety of the real teapots!
Lovely posts ampers
For Friday
1) needed to clear my office, currently empty of humans so needed to organise for someone to be there to open up so 1:£0 Friday afternoon was a good option
2) there wasn't as much stuff to clear as I feared and mum and i were finished within the hour - 2 boxes to go over to the Deanery where I have an office, bag to the shredder, bag to the bin, rest home (though lots to sort)
3) a quiet last wander on my own round the whole building - my team moved there 2010, and haven't been back since start of the pandemic - we are moving to a lovely central space though human Tetris needs to happen...
4) gorgeous day so we stopped on the way home at the botanics - a lovely wander round then a smackerel at the cafe
5) and a lovely evening with mates
For Saturday
1) A much needed lie-in then a soak in a bubbly bath
2) President's lunch for the GWSE (Graduate Women Scotland East) of which I am president - our first since 2019 - fellow committee member gave me and mum a lift
3) 16 of us - numbers were larger before pandemic but we'll build on that - lovely spread (the committee does all the cooking) and all agreed an excellent event - meant I missed Leicester game with DrM but he texted me his take on the match
4) then bed for a long nap - all the travel from Aug -> Oct has caught up with me
5) then a quiet evening - lit the candles, made a big mug of tea, wrapped myself in a blanket and watched Dr Who, HIGNFY and most of Match of the Day - blissMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Pleasures for yesterday
1. Painting then waxing my oak beam - i'd stripped it months ago and it was a mess. But a 'hack' with frenchic paint and wax and it now looks beautiful
As you can see, the room is not finished...
2. Friend came for coffee and to see the 'hack' as she wants to try it on her black beams in her cottage
3. a walk by the sea to ease my hip and back pain
4. went to (different) friends' for tea and we
5. walked up to see the bonfire and fireworks (at Rhydy, Frith)
6. (from bank) caught the night steam back to town.
Have a great afternoon all.I wanna be in the room where it happens9 -
VJsmum - I haven't been to Rhydy for a few years now. We did go to ICT for a day between lockdowns in 2020.
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep. I prefer the clocks changing in this direction.
2) Bigger son appeared and updated his CV. (He needs a job now). He has found a vacancy at the post office in the next village. The man who runs it is very jolly.
3) I cleaned the house ready for the photographer tomorrow morning. I cleaned: the windows, the kitchen, the bedrooms, the bathroom, the stairs, put all washing away, weeded then swept the garden and moved furniture around. Have been faffing around with some chrysanthemums in two vases. Just need to hoover and steam the floors downstairs tomorrow, take the sofa throw off and possibly light the stove to prove it works!
4) Saw my neighbours a few times while I was going to the bin and gardening and the lady neighbour has passed her driving test first time.
5) Popped to M and S for a pot of tea then went to Sainsburys for food and flowers.
6) In bed with one hwb at the moment but might get up and sort more stuff out when I've had a rest. Getting a bit excited now, which is rare!9 -
Hello!Work day one has been and gone ! Hurrah! One down one to go.Always a weird sleep when the clocks change as I’m never sure if it’s changed or not ( I often wake up through the night most nights) anyway better an extra hour than one less especially on a work day. And a bit more light for the doggy walk first thing.Tips were okay and company was good.Had an extra event after work.Lovely sky as wee were closing the blinds at work then as I was leaving the loveliest moon in the sky. Like a man in the moon , moon.Have a boot full of very RTC plants. A job for later in the week! Planting them if weather allows.Lovely welcome home from my doggy. And DD2 had bought me red roses. Lovely!10

red roses - indeed very lovely mhags
1) a very pleasant sleep with the stress of the last few weeks done
2) really good service and several new people (some visitors some here for longer) - made sure every new person had someone to talk to if they wanted and explained the open table to each as I did the squirt of hand cleaner for communion
3) good trip to MrT - remembered to use my tokens - bought lots of cereal bars for the foodbank
4) lovely long walk with dd2 via the pub (has a blue jacket been handed in? anything in the pockets? Empty poo bags. Yes here you are 😃)
5) then along the river front to the Botanics, tea and cake then home to walk the dogs
and dd2 has helped both me and mum with our paypal invoices - seems to have got much more complicated since i last used it

1. Have just brought a cappuccino+scant tsp of honey back to bed after checking on o/n casserole - fine and Mmmm😋 wafts.
2. Each so 'meet and right', yesterday's 3 All Saints observances. Everyone's remembered names spoken and heard. Candles lit for each. Oh, more of J's windfall apples to be used up. Again, regretfully 'it won't be X next year.'.......
3. After yet another last-minute cancellation, & has called time on tutee family. Over 5 years, have ignored travel costs, book and text provision, birthdays, ex gratia research, garden donations and help, school and teacher visits/interviews/letters as requested and much, much more, having 'earnt' £1.00-£2.50 per hour max.
Yes, & knows 'counting the cost' is not the point, but £20 for minimum 5-hour sessions for 3 tutees for 5 years?
No longer.
It is now clear their circumstances always have far surpassed &'s, who was already an OAP when they approached her.
Comment by tutee at last 'lesson' revealed a suitably remunerated maths tutor has been on scene since eldest's GCSE mocks, over 2 yrs ago, now for 2nd child.
Basic going rate is min. £15-20 per hour, without &'s many extras. Enough is enough - carefully worded reply. Cannot subsidise them any longer, wish them all well.
Sense of relief. Hope above doesn't read as almighty whinge.
4. 🙂 A dainty 🦚🏉 firstborn has arrived for one of our 1st XV's hefty back row.😇 Lovely names. Crochet calls...😁
5. Three satisfying extra binbags out for The Men this morning.

Sounds like a sensible decision Ampersand, some people are inherently takers and the fault lies with them not those generous enough to help.
For yesterday,
Clocks may have fallen back but no one informed small dogs bladder, up early then with a cup of tea and my book.
Breakfast, prepped a venison casserole to slow cook then over to see equine girlie, little walk out in the drizzle, v mild though.
Home, popped some dumplings in with the casserole and listened to the Archers omnibus while they cooked.
Watched an episode of Hjersen then out for a walk at sunset.
Bit of tv watching, bit of book reading and a late tea of toasted crumpets.

Hello all
Pleasures for yesterday
1. a somewhat pleasure is that due to the clock change, i was awake just after 4.30 but it meant that i left ICT at 7.15 and no traffic meant i was back before 10!
2. Had a good sing song in the car - haven't done that in ages
3. had a walk up the country lane (i'm currently having to walk my 'dicky' hips, peferably twice a day - like having a dog!)
4. work was finished fairly promptly so i could light the fire and loaf in front of it and the tv
5. Had to pick up OH and DS from somewhere 25 miles away as there were no trains - i hate driving in the dark, but it went ok. They'd had a good time.
Have a fab afternoon.
I wanna be in the room where it happens9
