Good afternoon. Unbelievably warm sunny day
DfV - love the sound of the seed nurturing/seedling planting/forest growing. Forward planning at its finest!
Mhagster - I had never tasted, or indeed heard of, tablet until about 7 years ago. It's a good job I don't live in Scotland. It's absolutely addictive! I would never stop eating it.
D Doll - I'm a bit worried about the safety of the real teapots!
Ampersand - I love Joanne Harris but not read that one yet. Used to use Unman, Wittering etc when teaching. Putting dangerous ideas in their heads but my students were never that well organised. Or perhaps decided to just put up with me.
Started Christmas bunting but then broke off for gift bag making for DGD birthday. I've tried the Japanese 'wrap in a cloth' thing but it just looks messy when I do it!
Garden centre this morning for coffee and cake for a birthday treat for me. Was lovely. And we're going out with DD and partner for a meal this evening too. I'm spoilt!
Happy 🌞 day everyone

Ampersand - i enjoyed Gentlemen and Players and the sequel whose name escapes me. I like Joanne Harris - it's a shame JK Rowling seems to have got her acolytes on to her.
Pleasures for yesterday
1. bedroom decorating coming on apace now.
2. except the carpet - the shop was shut when we went yesterday and can't get us in till january today. The pleasure is we had a nice walk to the shop.
3. New mini undercounter fridge freezer arrived. It's a dinky wee thing
4. tea was meh but easy - OH had made sausage rolls from freezer contents. we finished the blackberry and apple pie he'd also made though
5. watching 'The Walk In' - good stuff.
Have a lovely rest of day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens9 -

Hi everyone
Today's pleasures, in no particular order:
1) More free apples, this time from my brother, have been turned into yummy Norwegian Apple cakes, some to eat and some to freeze and still some more apples to go at.
2) Gorgeous sunny day so had a trip to our favourite gardens and sat in the sunshine, really warm and we had a good kick around in the crispy golden leaves on the ground. Good to revisit your childhood once in a while! This place always puts me to rights when I am feeling a bit discombobulated. Luckily DH is happy to sit quietly next to me til it has worked its magic and smoothed me out, which it did.
3) I've felt like it's been Saturday all day so the pleasure is the weekend is still to come. Shouldn't make any difference when you are retired but somehow the weekends still feel like little holidays.
4) Reading the latest Elizabeth Strout book, Lucy by the Sea. Not a great fan of her work normally, find it all a bit 'breathy' and jumpy and I like a book I can really get my teeth into. However, this one has me hooked, nearly finished it now and I have had tears in my eyes at least three times - not because the story is sad but because I can relate to things that are very bittersweet. Won't give anything away as you may want to read it but it really made me think and that's what a good book should do.
5) Treated myself to some gorgeous soaps, handmade and wrapped in beautiful thick paper. One is Rhubarb & Rose (just love anything rhubarb) , the other is Bluebell and smells just like a bluebell wood. Gorgeous, couldn't choose between them!
The pleasure at the moment is in just smelling and stroking them (oh dear!), and more pleasures to come using them. They are big bars and triple milled so last ages. A total extravagance because they will be in my shower so only me to enjoy them, a lovely very selfish pleasure that none of the men in my household would appreciate anyway!
Well, they were easy to find today and a final pleasure is that it's already dark enough to have the lamps on so will light some candles, snuggle under a soft throw and nurse the tail end of my stupid, annoying cold. Perhaps a hot toddy will do the trick...
Hope you enjoy your evening and the weekend still to come.

Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Off to the opticians. 2 pairs of glasses have been ordered...
3) Had breakfast at the little cafe.
4) Took some more stuff to the charity shop.
5) Took all the lampshades down and washed them and put them up again.
6) Walked just over 4 miles round the forest.
7) Cooked a pack of sausages and a pack of chicken thighs that had reached their use by date.
8) Bigger son and his girlfriend reappeared! I have been hearing tales of their travels. No one stopped them going from one country to the next (14 in total) until they got to Dunkirk. Their van was taken apart by 5 policemen and bigger son was questioned several times as they could not believe there was no cannabis hidden away!
9) Went to Wildlife Club in the village hall.
10) Collected bigger son from where he had been meeting his friends. (Both his and his girlfriend's cars are off the road att the moment so they only have the van between them).
11) In bed with 2 hwb now and will watch HIGNFY.8 -
Recent pleasures:
Flu jab sorted and done (thanks DFV)
Wander round local gardens, spotting the pumpkins 🎃 on the trail for children’s half term.
Swimming twice this week! (Now up to 32 lengths 👏).
Return to old exercise class, restarted after after 2.5 years!
This helps to make up for other food pleasures: Chinese takeaway with friend on Wednesday, Wetherspoons before a fantastic Irish music concert (Nathan Carter) at local venue with OH on Thursday and pub lunch (sausage and mash followed by chocolate fudge cake) with BF yesterday!!
Think my purse (CC actually) and my stomach need a break this week.
Its supposed to be 21 degrees and dry here today so either a garden tidy or a visit to the crematorium today. By the way we had a “mini tornado “ here on Sunday evening and lost 3 fence panels, a spindly tree and my garden archway!
Happy Saturday everyone and enjoy your extra hour tonight 😊8 -
For yesterday,
Breakfast and then off to have booster jab, the game of musical chairs made me smile, every time someone was called in we moved up a chair, and the doctor expressed surprise that I had never tested positive.
Made a loaf and changed the bed, did the monthly finances and did transfers etc.
Lunch and then over to see my girlie, by this time my arm was really starting to hurt so just gave her a good groom and left her with a big hay net.
Easy tea, fish fingers, fries and salad.
Not a pleasure but arm v sore, bruised and swollen, popped on some arnica avoiding puncture wound and wished I’d gone back to same place as before!8 -
Hope you feel better soon, Lainey
Pleasures for yesterday
1. walked to carpet shop, got samples, walked back, OH didn't like samples, cut off a strip of the carpet he's using to lie on which is an off cut from our lounge carpet, took it to carpet shop, ordered 2 carpets and walked back. probably walked 2 miles or more in all that. We'll have 5 weeks from Bedroom 1 carpet going in, to decorate bedroom 2 before that carpet is laid.
2. OH and i went out for lunch (a further 10 minute walk each way) and walked to a friend's lock up who has said we can keep a car there. DS has a new car from Monday and we're probably buying the old one (back) off him.
3. THen walked by the sea (probably another 1.5 miles)
4. OH left then and i had a few hours to myself
5. out with friends - drove, because i could (I usually have no car).
Fireworks tonight - it'd better not rain..I wanna be in the room where it happens7 -
Hello. A quiet day of mainly just pottering around the house.Rather ghastly out.
Had pumpkin soup for lunch then DD2 and I went out for tea. Nice to chat as we can be a bit like ships passing!
Lovely dog snuggles. His sooky toys got washed today so he’s just had one returned and currently schnookying on it.10 -
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Talked to bigger son until quite late. I then went to bed thinking I would turn the light off after a minute or two. I woke up at 9.30, still in my t shirt, light still on, with someone hammering at the front door!
2) Put jeans on and ran to the front door to find the EPC man had arrived half an hour early. He was a pleasant chap and it turned out he has a season ticket for the football and sits about 10 metres from us. He assessed the house and it has improved from an F rating to a C.
3) Made a tray of cinnamon buns.
4) Listened to the football on the radio. Another win! (0-1)
5) Didn't do any of the absolutely vital jobs that need doing before the photographer comes on Monday, Have been watching television instead.7
