For yesterday,
The treat of gravlax on toast for breakfast, it had been YS of course.
Cleared Mount Ironmore and changed the bed, out to fill up the mini and pick up some compost.
Small dog had her haircut and pamper, nice chat with my pal who has the grooming business.
Capt S finished early for the day, it was a wet & windy afternoon so we snuggled down, watched an old MMurders and ate cake!
A few games of Yahtzee then watched Friday night live.8 -
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) A lie in.
2) Sorted out the details of meeting a friend tomorrow.
3) Went to watch the football with smaller son and had a pie.
4) Bigger son texted and will be going to Belgium soon.
5) Went for a walk for about an hour.8 -
Hello again.
Pleasures have been a bit thin on the ground the last day or so but here goes with some 'happenings' in which, hopefully, some pleasures may be lurking:
1) Dare we even mention the happenings politically? What a shambles. The pleasure is, perhaps, that some stability may eventually return to this country.
2) We have had two agents round to value my mum's bungalow, now being referred to as 'the property'. The pleasure is, perhaps, that none of us want to live there so it has to be sold, so best to get on with it.
3) Son's car - the one we forked out a lot of money on not long ago to get it serviced and through its MOT - broke down majorly on the way to taking little grandson for his swimming lesson this morning. He managed to coast off the road, luckily a minor one, and rang DH who drove out to swap cars so they could all still get to their hair appointments. While he was waiting for the rescue services, hubby had a good look at what he thought the problem was and it may not be as hugely expensive to sort as was feared. The car was transported back to the garage who did the work and is now locked in their compound and the huge pleasure is that everyone is ok.
4) Number 3 pleasure totally scuppered our quite complex plans for the day, but the pleasure is that the bairn can have the use of my car until his gets sorted and everything can be rearranged. Not so much of a pleasure for long, lanky teenage grandsons who currently have to fold themselves into the back of a two door Corsa!
5) Gave in to a total chocolate binge tonight and now feel very buzzy and a bit nauseous. Very cross with myself, the only pleasure here is that they are now gone and I won't be buying anymore to replace them - so there!!!
There we are, we made it through the day and as DH is fond of saying, 'all brings night'.
Sleep well.

For yesterday,
For the first time in as long as I can remember I slept the whole night through, lovely.
Lazy morning, watched a bit of the cricket and read my book.
Warm sausage rolls and salad for lunch.
Over to the yard, equine girlie had had a fine old time rolling in the mud and was more hippo than horse! Brushed off all the dirt, tacked her up and went for a meander around the fields, had some company as well so very enjoyable.
Home, fancied something spicy for tea so made a BS and cashew curry so had that with rice.8 -
Good morning. Very wet and grey here but still mild
Seem to be lots of geese around this year. Two or three skeins at a time in V shapes. And very noisy! Enjoy watching them.
Out out last night! Dressed up, nails done, the works! To our local little theatre ( only 99 seats!) to see a rock n roll band fronted by two brilliant piano players. We've seen them before and it's a real feel-good night. We always come out grinning!
Stew and dumplings sort of day today. Followed by plum crumble. Proper winter food.
Last Bloodlands tonight. Some of the acting is a bit hammy but have kept watching because we want to know what happens.. Hope it's a proper conclusion and not left open for another series.
Happy grey day everyone

oo gravlax laineyt we too have been hitting the ys. for yesterday
1) started to move stuff up from my old office to my new office - very exciting
2) having had 1 slice of the free pizza from Friday for breakfast mum and i had some more with salad for lunch
3) went to the opera with gbf - Medee by Cherubini - we took packed tea for the interval, in my case the end of the free pizza - and shared gbf's bottle of water
4) met up with some friends after and compared notes - we all agreed it was very good
5) gbf came in for a cuppa, a cuddle with the boys and we finished the biscuits i'd brought home from the Paris lounge
and for today
1) lovely service though never did make it to the cake as was busy talking to a new member
2) had invited gbf round for supper as we had 8/10 mini pork pies that mum had bought ys the day before so we called in at M&S and bought some ys salad stuff
3) after a very tasty lunch off to the botanics for a very interesting talk about bats and birds from one of my uni (and phoenix) friends (sadly Luton lost 0-4 to Watford but Leicester won 0-4 to Wolves)
4) then a walk round the garden - lots of interesting looking fungi
5) then mum and i went to a friend's for a Diwali celebration - yummy food and lots of laughter, oh yes and sparklers in the rain

Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Felt a bit better today, after 6 days of feeling incredibly stressed.
3) Went out for a cup of tea and a jacket potato with my friend at 12.
4) Went to M and S after (and had another cup of tea).
5) Walked round the forest. Did 4 miles in just over an hour.
6) Smaller son in a good mood. He had a massive latex allergy last night but it has settled down again now.
7) Just phoned my school friend.7 -
Hello.
Glad you are recovering from your recent stress, Frith. I have done a lot of volunteering in my time and know how you can be presumed upon and taken advantage of and how upsetting this can be.
After a few negative posts from me recently, some simple pleasures for today:
1) A greyish sort of day but the sun did manage to come out for a while later on.
2) Middle and little grandsons ambled in to do some baking this afternoon. Choc chip cookies and brownies were made and enjoyed.
3) My flowers are gorgeous, coral and yellow alstromerias, they have been flowering now for over a fortnight and are still going strong.
4) Sorted and re-packed two freezers and did an inventory - far more meals in there than I had realised. At some stage I have done a lot of cooking, we can now reap the benefits with some nice, easy meals for a while.
5) Forgot I had promised little grandson, while we were baking, that we would play bingo (his favourite!) later on. He, of course, remembered so we rallied the troops and all sat down for a hilarious. fun game which biggest grandson won so he will be the caller next time. Nice quality time with all my menfolk together for a change.
And now another week starts, hope you have a good one.

For yesterday, a lazy day where I fully embraced my inner sloth.
Bit of an early start as small dog had to have a wee RIGHT NOW Mum, didn’t go back to bed but got under the throw on the sofa and read my book.
Bacon butties and catching up on all things Ambridge.
Then watched Strictly, skipping through the annoying bits, not sure half of the songs were a good idea to dance to but entertaining all the same.
Roast chicken lunch then more sofa!
Only exercise of the day, walk around the field with small dog, just got home and the thunder & lightning started, quite impressive in I'm so glad to be in the house kinda way.

I’ll admit I had to google gravlax.
Ampersand hope you are starting to feel better.
Frith, you sound amazingly organised.
For yesterday
1 Sitting here just having had a Christmas mix leftovers cupcake and a tea, my favourite combo.
2 I think I have managed to clear what I’m going to for now, 4 bin bags full of stuff off to a CS, some bits binned, 3 dresses will go for sale. The space I have cleared I am going to put the things inherited that I will hang onto.
3 Made a curry for dinner and it was lovely if I do say so myself, leftovers to go in tomato soup for tomorrow’s lunch.
4 A few bits done in the garden, plans for a shed also.
And by ferret paws standing on the keyboard: 0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000xzzzzzz
For today
1 Finally remembered to get the turkey crown out of the freezer for later in the week, I’ve been meaning to for a while now, as it’s been in there since January.
2 Ordered meds for the four paws, earlier than normal as the postal strikes are fun.
3 Leftovers went into the tomato soup which made it taste lovely. Toad in the hole will be dinner later.
4 Washing finally up to date, phew mammoth task.
5 Feels a little like moving out with the amount of stuff I am moving on.
6 Oh and someone is sending me some gluten free brownies to try – hard life.
