Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) A lie in.
2) Printed off some information sheets in the library for 3)
3) Went to give English lesson number 4. Had some interesting conversations today, mainly about camels and pheasants! Taught them the expression "Four seasons in one day", as that is always useful! Found out something sad today (there is bound to be something, considering who is involved) and that has upset me this evening.
4) Got home and weeded the garden and swept up the leaves from the paths.
5) Tasty cheating tea.
6) In bed with 2 hwb and will catch up with the Ranganation.8 -

3. House lovely and clean as letting agents came to inspect.
4. Leftover pasta bake for tea.

Some recent pleasures,
The colours of autumn are really starting to blaze now.
Deer in the field next to the cottage.
Some mild, sunny days, driving home from the yard yesterday it was 18 degrees.
Re-reading the autumn section of The Magic apple tree.
Opening the living room door in the mornings and the lovely smell of sandalwood from our candle.
Putting out my metal pumpkin, made from old horseshoes a few years back by my clever pal in his forge.

Morning!
Pleasures for the last few days....
Decent sleep most nights - although still waking up at 4am ish!
Sold 4 more jars of my honey, one guy bought his second jar as he's finished the one he bought only last week, he says it's delicious!
Made a fab potato/courgette/cheese omlette/frittata last night, was so tasty & used up a few things that were lurking in fridge.
And finally for today my pleasure is the weather! Beautifully sunny here, washing about to be hung out then I'll sit and have a coffee in the garden as I've already been to our local Asda (18 miles away) and got my groceries for the week. Feeling rather smug haha!

Good afternoon
Oh, this weather. So bright. So warm. Absolutely lovely!
Back from the coast and back in our routine.
Yoga yesterday and then a trip to pick up DS who had sold his car and take him back home. It took longer than anticipated, but done eventually.
Rang my friend who is in a care home but I can't visit as they are in lock down. Three cases of covid there! Rather worrying.
Sorting out my Christmas material and thinking what to make. I look on Pinterest for inspiration and really just vanish down various rabbit holes!
Prawn stir fry for tea. Quick and easy.
Happy autumn evening everyone8 -
Hello everybody.
Finally caught up with everyone's comings and goings. Goodness, I really am the newbie compared to some of you! What a wonderful support network you have all shared, all of life - and otherwise - is here. A big pleasure to be here and having been made to feel so welcome.
Gentle pleasures for the last day or so:
1) Some lovely peaceful downtime to rest and recuperate, feeling so much better physically and emotionally now and a bit more on an even keel.
2) Have picked up the daily 'walks and talks' with my boy now my busted knee is on the mend. Strangely, it hurts more walking downhill than uphill so we have devised some mainly uphill walks which have proven how you can get unfit again very quickly. I was doing so well but now am definitely out of condition again so will persevere and let him do the talking while I huff and puff.
3) Yet more glorious autumn days, what a delight the weather has been and lovely that so many of us are sharing the joy of it.
4) Sat in a sunny bay window this afternoon reading my book in the sunshine, feeling lovely and warm and looking at the magnificent trees that surround us here. My current book is the latest Kate Atkinson, really into it now and enjoying the descriptions of some of the areas I spent my childhood in. One of her characters even went to the same school as my mum when she was a teenager, and my grandad and his seven siblings worked at one of the chocolate factories she mentions (my grandad had wanted to be a plumber but his mum sent him to work at the factory at the age of 14 as they needed the money. Apparently she used to wait by the scullery door on a Friday evening and they all had to tip their wage packets into her apron!).
5) One of our resident squirrels has had a baby which it carries round in its mouth. Aww!! The park near where used to live was overrun by them and they fed them contraceptives to keep the numbers down but we enjoy the antics of the couple we have in the garden. Had hedgehogs too but haven't seen them for a while...
Have a lovely evening.

Oooft a late night for me! Jet lag kicked in a couple of hours ago but we’ve had a visitor so it would have been rude to fall asleep
Was in at work for 2.5 hours which was nice actually. Watched the sun rise over the woodlands as I drove to work.Quick supermarket shop.Home. Called sister first time and nephew was there so had a lovely chat with him. Big family event this weekend which unfortunately I can’t make as I’ve just had a month off work! So was nice to chat and wish him well. Called sister later again .Tidied up a little bit in the garden. There’s much to be done that would have been done however I’ve been away for a month!Washing out and back in, ironed and hung in airers.Friend was coming for tea so made sausages, roast potatoes, parsnips and carrots and broccoli, cabbage, sprouts ( real food) and corn on the cob. My Tuesday tea is more like anyone else’s Sunday dinner! Sunday/ Monday I cannot face cooking after a day at work.Had apple crumble for pud. And a batch of crumble mix in the freezer for next time. There’s a serve of crumble left for me tomorrow.Evening full of chatter and laughter. Friend has taken my huuuge slow cooker for her sons girlfriend. She was wanting to get one and I was wanting to downsize so it’s out my cupboard and away to a good home.9 -
I'm afraid I shall be venting my spleen at the end of this, as I won't be talking to another adult until Sunday. Scroll by if you prefer.
Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Good to get up after a pathetic night's sleep. Felt slightly mellow and drunk for much of the day, until that turned to a simmering rage...
2) Went to Ludlow for the charity shops (nothing this time), a cup of tea, and Sainsburys.
3) I received a cheque from the estate of my auntie and uncle. Not sure how to feel about it. It is an amount that will make a difference (not to everyone, but to us).
4) Bigger son is now in the Netherlands and is going to meet some friends in Amsterdam in 2 days time!
5) I might save number 5, unless today was GBBO. If so, I shall be watching it in a minute with my cup of tea and 2 hwb.
Now then, volunteering this evening was everything that makes me tense and uncomfortable in life. Pondering whether to spend some of my inheritance on getting that ASD diagnosis, after all these years...
I don't like looking smart or having to make an effort to go out, looking people in the eye, cannot argue or have a robust conversation with anyone, as all my words evaporate. My only means of defence is the laser large brown eyes angry glare or silently walking out and going home. I CANNOT STAND not knowing what I am supposed to be doing (I don't mind if people change plans as long as there is a plan). I cannot fathom why people do not do what they said they would do. I cannot understand why other people do not memorise instantly every bit of conversations but have to ask me how many sons I have (for example) every time they see me...
I got to the cinema and there was no one to be seen. A large meeting was taking place in the room I was supposed to be working in. I sat down and another lady had been given the same completely random time to meet. She had brought all her paintbrushes with her. I had brought all the stuff I thought I would need.
A random lady walked over and said it was nice of me to agree to help with the performance (4, next week). Now, I had vaguely mentioned that I might do that. She then said that of course I would be doing rehearsals from Sun - Weds, with the performances Thursday - Saturday. So 7 long evenings plus an afternoon...
I zapped her with my eyes, so she took a step back. (I did later apologise to paintbrush volunteer for my glaring). She realised I didn't know what she was talking about but then got a bit... weird... suggesting they would get someone else if it was "inconvenient".
Mr E then appeared with his laptop, again pointing out everything that I would be doing. I said that was impossible, that I wasn't going to leave smaller son on his own for 7 nights and that we are going to the football on Tuesday. He then said it was half term, and of course I needed to be at home "with my little one". So obviously my mentioning the 6 feet 4 man I live with, in almost every conversation, hasn't sunk in at all. Good to know.
Ms Paintbrush and I waited for something to do. I waited for 2 hours. I then silently got up, walked out, got in the car and drove home. Of course, this never goes smoothly as I had to break out of the back door then couldn't get it shut properly from the outside.
No one will have noticed that I left or get in contact so no clue what to do now. My first thought is to never go again and sent my badge back in the post!

Oh Frith, my heart goes out to you as that sounds like the most awkward of awkward situations and very much as if your volunteering has been taken granted. Perhaps give yourself a couple of days to decide what to do, I’m sure that there are other organisations that would benefit greatly from your skills?
For yesterday,
Another warm, sunny day, only downside was the invasion of ladybirds which were all over the back of the cottage.
Washing dried on the line, red cabbage braised in the slow cooker and other domestic chores done.
New pair of cords arrived in post and were a good fit, I don’t often buy new clothes but following recent weight loss my old ones didn’t fit and I had a money off voucher.Being with my pony and enjoying a little walk around the fields in the sunshine.
All day veggie breakfast for tea, then some cake while we were watching GBBO.9 -
My day did not turn out as I had expected !
Had to go to solicitors first thing with my dads death certificate. Could I find it? No. However I then said in an out loud voice can you help me find it please dad! And Lo and behold I did. In a random place that I just randomly checked. It’s now been put in a safer place! Then went to florist and bought some eucalyptus. I just needed a bit of Australia in my life. Lovely chatter in the shop. Then went to M&S and got a few nice treats bits and bobs. Then went to charity shop…oh wellies in the shop window. What’s size are they? Not my size however they did have my size. So tried them on, fitted perfectly and just a fiver for a brand new pair of wellies! Ideal ( as I was going to buy wellibobs which would have been about 8 times the cost! )
Went to other charity shop as I had seen lovely Christmas decorations last week and had hummed and hawed as I liked them but absolutely don’t need them, however I thought if they were still there I’d get them, I totally digress as they didn’t have them…however bought a Jamie and Nigella cookbook that I don’t have already.
Then home and didn’t even unpack the car just grabbed a doggy and off we went to favourite place and had a lovely autumnal walk with leaves falling off trees as we walked past. Then went to mums, was chatting to neighbour when I got an email to say chap who wants to buy mums house wants to move in on Friday, this request had been made yesterday and I had said no as there’s still a garage to clear and two big furniture items to clear. However if he clears them himself can he move in on Friday. As in the day after tomorrow and whoever heard of such a thing? There’s been radio silence for 4 weeks and now can I get the keys in 48 hours!Well that was my day kind of turned upside down. There were just a few bits left that are currently in DD2 car and can I please just take them out tomorrow morning as I can’t face coming down to piles in the morning! ( will just be stepping over them once I bring them in ) I’m all good for cleaning products till about 2032.Had to call brother. I’d rather not but needs must. So he came up to mums. He’s only been in once ( the other week when I was away) it’s ‘too much’ for him. Bless! Too bad if it was too much for me when I spent ten and a half weeks clearing the house! Anyway!Had to call sister. And get her to deal with stuff her end. So that was all rather a stressful couple of hours!Popped into NDN to say can we come round tonight? Yes.Home with doggy. Brought washing in, almost dried. Put heating on as friend was coming round. Stripped my bed and remade it with cosy flannel bedding I’d bought in Australia.Phoned aunt. She’d texted me to ask how things were going and was the house sold…well actually…😆Friend was round for a couple of hours. Chatter and laughter and a bit of tearage.Made spag bol for tea with leftovers for DD2 lunch tomorrow.Back round to mums to fill the car. House is echoey and empty and was a tad sad as this is almost it,
Then we sat and blethered with NDN for an hour or so. Her house was so cosy. We took her some flowers and had big hugs ( though I’ll probably see her tomorrow. She’s just been such a constant in my life. And then bed as jet lag hit me about an hour and a half ago!7
