Good afternoon. Another beautiful autumn day here.
Back in the routine again
Yoga on Monday. Seemed tougher after a week off, but I enjoyed it
Went to have my ears tested. I do have NHS hearing aids but it's now almost impossible to get an appointment at the clinic so I'm going privately. The price is😱 but I really feel I need to get it sorted properly so I've decided to bite the bullet.
Supermarket yesterday. Many price rises. Bizarre gaps in shelves, particularly biscuits and crisps!
Butcher's today so freezer restocked for a while.
Holiday laundry done. I've not ironed summer clothes because they'll be going away until next spring now. Always makes me sad
But to cheer me up I've made a little autumn table. A vase of alstromeria ( sp?) and Acer leaves and some velvet pumpkins I made last year. It makes me smile!
Happy autumn everyone9 -
Hello. It’s just gone 5am here on Thursday morning. That’s my jet lag really just kind of sorted out now. Now in the pattern of bed, sleep, wake up! Instead of bed…lie awake for hours even though I’m so, so tired, sleep for two hours, get up as it’s the appropriate time to get up even though I could sleep for longer! So I’m glad I’m back in my normal…for now…until I have to do it all in reverse again!Anyway for Wednesday.Went for hotel breakfast with DD1. She was staying over at hotel after we got back from airport. Then we went for a swim. I did 30 lengths. She does 3 to my 1. So she’d done her 40, had a jacuzzi and a sauna and I was still taking my time. This chap came in and was seriously ploughing through the pool! He was doing about 6 lengths to my 1, so I was glad when he got out! Then back to get showered and dressed and out again! Got the tram to meet my old work colleague. We had such a lovely afternoon. She paid for lunch which was very kind. Then we had a wander and then time for tram back. It was so, so crowded. I didn’t like it and was glad to get off.Back to hotel and then son and I went out in tram, which also became very crowded. There were night markets on but the crowds and the queues were a bit much so we headed back ( on a crowded tram…there’s a theme here!) and just shared a pizza in the hotel restaurant which was actually cheaper than the market food was going to be.
Chat with DD2.And arrangements made back and forth for next two days.10 -
sounds great mhags you must be pleased about the footie result last night - dr m and mr g certainly are
1) after another good morning teaching and lunch we got back to the hotel
2) i had my stash of milk in the fridge so cups of tea kept me company while I reviewed some important docs from back home
3) then we went to the boulevard. unfortunately our driver wasn't very good with the satnav so we went round in circles a few times but we got there in the end. the light shows are amazing
4) and had an amazing Lebanese meal - for pudding we were all so stuffed we had one pudding with 4 spoons
5) and now back (only a couple of u turns this time) , teeth brushed, cups of tea and Ambridge.

Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) The charity shops produced 2 jumpers for me.
3) Ebay boots arrived - and they fit!
4) Went with my brother to his work and I walked up and down the canal (found some geocaches) then walked around a steam railway station.
5) Just made a bacon sandwich for smaller son and me. I thought he would be fine while I popped out for a few hours - left the house tidy with a HM shepherds pie to heat up etc. Got many messages that he was being held hostage by a hornet!
6) In bed now and will catch up with GBBO.10 -
For last few days
1. Stayed with a friend - had a wonderful time and caught up. Helped her tidy her house which actually was enjoyable while we chatted.
2. A walk round Wisley with DH. Beautiful day and may not get many more this year.
3. A meeting with access to work and she has suggested things to help with my arthritis in my hands. Letter will be sent to my boss shortly and let's see what her response is.
4. Three people at work who are keeping me same there.
5. Watched rugby last night and won though they did there best to lose it towards the end!!10 -
I’m the same when the summer clothes are packed away HappyCas somehow jumpers etc don’t hold the same appeal!
For yesterday,
Awake early so read for a while, my latest book is set in Cambridge so many familiar locations.
Talking of which, off to Uni city for a haircut, so much has happened since last appointment we had lots to catch up on.
Over to the yard, just got there when the heavens opened but we did go in the school for a bit of work, she’s still quite spooky in there.
Finally saw my friend who has two horses at the yard, good catch up and plans to hack out together.
Tasty tea, pork loin steaks with fried apples and veg, then a few games of Yahtzee.

went for brunch with her friend from school days ( who’s stayed with us in Scotland a couple of times) I had a toastie.Did a bit of gardening when we got back . Cut back the overgrown herbs and pruned the lemon tree. The actual branches smell like lemons inside. Brought three lemons back to hotel.Caught up on my laundry.Days are starting to stretch that little bit longer!11 -
Glad you're having such a great time, mhags
recent pleasures
1. out for lunch with friend on monday. Emaness - it's been quite a while since we went
2, DS and i went to the pictures on Monday. We saw the David Bowie docu thing 'Moonage Daydream' - it was chaotic, sensory overloading, fabulous and a little bit life-changing (if that's a thing)
3. OH came back from his latest holiday
4. DS, OH and I went walking and a pub lunch in the peaks
5. DS got a new job / small promotion
6. Out with another friend for a walk and a picnic
7. Then out with old primary school mums (all the children have long left the school but we meet up a few times a year)
8. clean sheets
Have a great rest of the day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens10 -
days definitely shortening now in Scotland mhags
1) last day in Riyadh - we had fun and the 3 most enthusiastic won spurtles
2) at lunch the winners asked if we'd sign their spurtles which of course we did with great aplomb
3) after possibly scariest uber driving ever got back to hotel in one piece - we put in a scathing feedback!
4) watched 42 (had arabic subtitles hooray) while i dozed gently on my bed before a bath, video calls to my dean and mum and pack
5) and now we're at the airport in the lounge. our lovely driver who didn't speak any English dropped us off at terminal 5 instead of 2, pointing excitedly at gate 2 when i tried to explain. So we alighted and found the shuttle bus. We knew already our flight is 75 minutes delayed so not in any hurry (not sure we'll make our connection at Schiphol though).MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Bit of a nothingness day here.
Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Bigger son's birthday. He was in Slovenia and is now in Austria. I phoned him about half an hour ago. Messaged my ex boyfriend (who is Austrian and lives in Vienna) to say there will be someone looking very much like me walking around on Saturday. Haven't messaged him in 10 years or more so not sure if he will read it. It would be sod's law they walked past each other!
22 years ago, I had got home from hospital, had my tea and was taking the dog for a quick walk.
3) Did a million charity shops and found a Vietnamese guide. (Really, I need a guide for Vietnamese people to learn English but at least this is a start). Got a couple of CDs as well.
4) Did sausages, beans and mash for tea.
5) Have been trying to dry many loads of washing as I thought I would wash and iron all the charity shop buys that are "too good to wear". Even resorted to ironing some to dry and dry them! Another load to take out of the washing machine just now...
6) In bed now and will get a hwb and watch some television.8
