5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

Hello again.DFV - so glad you managed to get through Friday but your poor mum, Covid on top of everything else. Not managed to catch up with everyone's news yet but I feel like I'm just getting back to normal after the booster jab which, for some reason, seemed to knock me out this week.Quick, recent pleasures:1) Had a fair few symptoms this time round from the booster jab, still feeling totally exhausted but, in fairness, think I've been getting that way for quite a while. Anyway, the pleasure is I'm on the mend now and hopefully better protected, also that nothing was pressing and I could rest and sleep as much as I needed.2) Had my hair cut before I fell victim to the side effects so at least I look tidy. Hairdresser had just returned to work after being off with Covid so it's still around, doubly glad I have had the booster.3) Hubby has been getting on with some garden jobs before the weather gets too cold and wet so grass is cut, paths weeded, hedges trimmed, leaves cleared up (for now!) and some fence painting done. The property next door has just gone on the market so at least any viewers won't think we are letting the side down!4) Said property is less than half the size of ours, being a bungalow rather than a two-storey house, but is on the market for quite a bit more than we paid for this three years ago, prices have definitely gone up. I'm so glad we took the plunge and moved here, I get so much pleasure from this house - in spite of all the work left to do. Never felt like this about anywhere else we have lived.5) We are having tea earlier now the nights are drawing in so we get a longer evening cosied up on the settee with candles lit. I'm starting to be able to concentrate better on reading after the last few weeks so enjoying some good books, and some good telly.Right, that's me caught up. I'll have a read of everyone's news and travel diaries but hope all is ok.Have a good evening.11

Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) A lie in.
2) Had a bit of a tidy and read half my new magazine.
3) Finally managed to sell the canoe to the Ebay man. He had to get quite cross with his sons to get them out of his car to help lift it onto the roof - I know that feeling!
4) Listened to the football on the radio. Lots of injuries to our team so I didn't know how well they would do today but they won 3-0.
5) Had a nice evening at our local Indian restaurant and smaller son went too. I think that is the first time he has been out/had a meal with my family for over 3 years. Everyone very sensibly ignored him, asked him nothing and didn't say it had been a long time.
6) In bed now to catch up with a bit of TV.

hello everyone, I got back safely but life has been manic so apologies for radio silence. Up to today...
1) Tuesday - spent last day with DD1 in Amsterdam - she was very excited to go to Waterstones - we had a lovely lunch and she put me on the train at 3:30 as queues long at Schiphol
2) Spent the 80 mins in the security queue talking to a charming gentleman who thanked me when we finally made it for helping the time pass so quickly. Was mutual.
3) called in at mennies on the way home - didn't text Dr M to say I was there but met up with 4 others and had a jolly evening
4) a couple of much needed early nights
5) Friday evening got text from Dr M asking if I was Englanding. Which I was. Not a good performance, apart from that another jolly evening. Flights willing (working in Saudi next week) will be back in time for Luton which Dr M will also come to, then (gluttons for punishment that we are) we'll be back on Monday for Leicester v Forest. He said he only went once while I was away from which I surmise although I'm apparently not his type I am his best footie buddy. So Frith romance still eludes me.
And for today
1) Morning spent helping mum move stuff down, walking the dogs, doing some housework
2) town with dd2 cos she wanted to change her phone contract - took her to lunch.
3) got some nice bat earrings in Next
4) Home, tea, then gbf came round to walk the dogs
5) and now just back from Moonage Dream which I absolutely loved (though I am a total Bowie freak). Knew all the songs but was very good and sang along silently. Looking forward to getting the dvd and singing along loudly at homeMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

For yesterday,
A nice lie-in followed by croissants and coffee.
After a foggy start it was a decent morning so two loads of washing put on line, made a loaf and picked some apples.
Over to see my pony, took her out for a wander and had just got back to the yard when the heavens opened, cosy in the stable with the rain hammering on the roof and her munching on hay. Home and Capt S had fetched in the washing before the rain started up.
Takeaway for tea, I had beef satay which was v tasty.
Tried to watch Strictly but seemingly no current tolerance for over the top gushing etc so caught up with Professor T instead followed by a couple of games of Yahtzee.9 -
Almost bedtime! We have an early start tomorrow!Walked into town ( just downhill) through the park filled with spring flowers and the most stunning magnolia trees .Had a serve of toast and jam with a pot of peppermint tea sitting looking out to sea. Just perfect.Back up to hotel where we were getting picked up by our friends. They kindly took us out for the day. We went to a little town known for it’s quaint shops. Had a wander in most of them. Had a very nice lunch ( their kind treat) and DD1 and I shared a toastie and chips! Then we drove through the most stunning countryside to get to where we stayed on holiday together ( the five of us) we walked along ‘our’ beach. It was just simply beautiful and sea very calm. But a bit of an emotional punch to the stomach again.Back home and we’ve just been down to the Harbourside as the sun was setting.A beautiful day.10

Hello again
Back home after a lovely week at sea. Not read everything back yet but it seems lots of people have been visiting interesting places and meeting up with friends and relatives. Such a treat after all the restrictions.
We cruised from Southampton which was a lot easier than flying to meet the ship. Your holiday starts the minute you board!
Last Sunday we were in Guernsey. It is delightful, really charming and more to it than I expected. Would love to go and stay there.
Monday was a sea day and also, of course, the day of the Queen 's funeral. It was shown in large screens in several parts of the ship, but we watched on the tv in our cabin. Very moving and I was glad to be just the two of us.
Tuesday - La Rochelle, Wednesday - Bilbao, Thursday - La Coruna Again, didn't really know what to expect but actually they were all well worth a return visit. We had strolls along harbours and around parks, coffee in town hall squares, and glorious sunshine every day. So lucky.
And now we're home, happy and ready to face the world. And the washing!
Lainey - I've watched Strictly since the very first series but for the last few years I always watch it on catch up. That way I can fast forward all the waffle. And often there is more fast forwarded than watched!
Happy 🌞 Sunday everyone10 -
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hoovered then steamed floors downstairs then the stairs themselves. Washing away. Cleaned all the windows downstairs.
3) Spoke to neighbour for a while about their cat (awaiting surgery after being hit by a car).
4) Went to M and S for a pot of tea. In the buying boots saga, M and S doesn't have the boots in stock in the UK (possibly the world) which means I got my £45 back. Saw some new Next boots on Ebay for £26. Went to Next, tried some boots on (to see if the sizes were right) and ordered the Ebay ones!
5) Popped to Sainsburys.
6) Went to a meeting at the cinema just now. One man rather dismissive/patronising (not like him, to be fair) but 2 other people jumped on what he said and backed me up. It has still riled me a bit. Mr E looking well. I was also pleased to see there is a piano in the back room, so I shall be sneaking in to fire that up at some point.
7) About to phone my school friend.
8) Will catch up with Casualty later (presuming it was on last night).
Doing proper English teaching to asylum seekers tomorrow and just starting to get incredibly anxious about that now...10 -
Am in bed - reckon if I think of it as 11:17 now my 5am alarm call will be 7am and more to the point getting up Tuesday will seem like 6:30 rather than 4:30! - yep time to go off to Saudi!
1) up early, gorgeous autumn day, put washing on and did some urgent work emails
2) dyed hair which of course meant walk-in shower looked like a scene out of psycho then off to church - climate Sunday, excellent service
3) put out washing which of course meant the weather turned but least it got a good airing
4) round to mum's for last meal at hers - she'll be moving in while i'm away! gbf, dd2, mum and I tucked into roast chicken and all the trimmings
5) then back home to rescue the washing and walk the boys by which time torrential rain. now packed and catching up on season 3 episode 1 of All Creatures then zzzzzz.

For yesterday,
Small dog whined early doors for toilet visit, still dark but decided to stay up and read, cool morning so was glad of blanket on sofa.
Bacon butties and catching up on all things Ambridge.
Picked some apples to take to elderly friend tomorrow, cleared a couple of pots ready for spring bulbs and fed tomatoes which are still going strong.
Late afternoon walk, low sun on the trees and such beautiful colours.
Watched Karen Pirie, have read a couple of the books and enjoyed, the programme didn’t disappoint.10 -
