For yesterday,
Into horsey town for a shop, the papers were late being delivered and lots of people were milling around awaiting their arrival, guess a lot of folks will be keeping them as a memento.
Picked up my winter boots from cobblers, new heels and soles cost me £30 but they are really good boots with lots of life left in them so worth the investment.
Over to fen town to see DSIL and eldest niece, lunch out but we were good and had a salad.
Came to drive home and route blocked due to accident so long & meandering drive across fenny landscape, glad it wasn’t later in the year as route taken went through nature reserve that is regularly flooded, & will know where, plus fen roads notoriously bumpy and uneven.
Home at last, quick cuppa and then made tea, followed by PJ’s and Bake-off8 -
Slept for 5 hours. It’s an improvement!
swam 28 lengths…would have done 30 but other people came in.Breakfast on my own.
Quiet morning.
Was meeting a friend so left a wee bit early and sat in the cathedral for a bit.We went for a late lunch. Then wandered back to my hotel and sat in the bar here for a while. Far too noisy in the city bars! ( bah I sound like an old fart! But I don’t want to shout!)
Then I just had to get the lift home 😆8 -
Hello, i've been away (again) and not posted for weeks so forgive me if i don't comment individually.
Pleasures recently -
1. one big pleasure really, South Africa, the scenery, the wildlife, the people, the weather, the food. We love it so.
2. Kids were ok without us
3. MiL has been approved for surgery - even though she's 90! hopefully her 'problem' will be sorted soon.
4. my bed
5. Not having plans to go away for some time after a pretty mad summer (apart from ICT).
have a great day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens9 -
Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Second load of washing on.
3) Went to town for the charity shops. Bought nothing.
4) Filled in some of the mountains of paperwork for smaller son. Decided to drive it to the council offices (the council I worked for for 10 years, ages ago) and they very helpfully photocopied all the paperwork I needed to supply. I don't know why different agencies can't all access the same paperwork online.
5) Had a pot of tea in M and S.
6) Sticking to the BSD OK. I had a pork chop with leek and apple for tea and smaller son had meatballs from the freezer (that I made the other day) with linguine.
7) Just spent a couple of hours organising, hoovering and dusting upstairs. Found one of the missing luminous juggling balls, which I was pleased about.9 -
For yesterday,
Capt S had a meeting first thing in cathedral city so I tagged along and had a wander around the chazzers while he did his thing. Nothing caught my eye and I also had a look around a couple of clothes shops but ouchie at the prices.
Home and beloved on leave for rest of week so took small dog for a walk around the back of the studs.Settled canine pal at home then out for a late pub lunch, I opted for bangers & mash which came with 3 big snorkers so beloved had one of those as well as he own meal ☺️Made a loaf plus a tea loaf for my uncle who we are seeing on Friday.
Caught up with Ridley, not sure about the singing! and then watched Mastermind.9 -
Hello.A very odd night. Still up at 2am dealing with estate agent and solicitor back home. And phone call to sister l Woke at 5 back to bed and woke after 8am. Went down to breakfast just myself.
Then walk in to centre of city which is five minutes as I’m in the centre of the city 😆 went to cathedral then sat at Fed Square for a bit then went to get my train.Out to visit friends all afternoon. We had the loveliest time. I texted friend when I got back to hotel to say thank you and she said it’s as if you’ve never been away. It honestly feels like five minutes. They very kindly paid for an Uber back into the city ( with the worlds most unchatty driver) I’d have been quite happy on the train but that was their treat. They have an amazing garden and a dog since we last saw them. Their son made lunch which was very yummy, from scratch. He’s 14. Just chatted all afternoon. Perfect.Just waiting on DD1 coming into city for a sleepover! It’s been warm today. First warm day since I’ve arrived. 😎10 -

Pleasures for yesterday
1. caught up with all the laundry
2. started the process of going back to work - was actually a bit of a pleasure as i wasn't sure i wanted to, but it seems fine.
3. went blackberrying - there's LOADS - and made a crumble.
4. cooked a nice chickeny thing for tea for me and DS (OH is away)
5. started watching the Crown again from the beginning.
have a great day all.
I wanna be in the room where it happens9 -
1. &'s gone even more rural for connectivity today. Sorting out this week's rugby preview, as usual. Thought I'd lost the lot this morning, with many techie snarl-ups and mess, despite resets etc. Horrors probably, hopefully, averted.🤞
2. Double University rugby matches on our 3G pitch at Peacock HQ yesterday. Durham v Light Blues, ladies and men. Both fierce and tight, if differently. Durham Ladies ran tries in pretty much at will. Their men made every bit of possession count. A foolish, needless 🟨 for Cambridge meant 14 points from 2 cracking converted tries to Durham, right near the end. Score was close until then. Afternoon weather softened and was warm.
3. A Peacock family v..pleased with an & CS find, an as-new linen teatowel with 'their' dogs on it.😁
4. Spotted another purple bean during early outdoor brekkie this morning. Why it's grown in a circle, no idea.
5. Returning to &squat, thought 'scrambled eggs' for late supper, with several Sungold cherry tomatoes, picked on way in. Tomatoes are still doing their thing. 👏😁🍅 All was yummy.

Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Popped to the charity shop in the next village but bought nothing.
3) Spent aeons on the phone to Vodafone trying to sort out bigger son's phone (which is in Italy). Did manage it in the end.
4) Tried again (in different ways) to tell Severn Trent that their burst water main is getting worse. Today there were 2 small fountains coming up through the main road! No response. By some absolute fluke, then drove past a man in a Severn Trent van! Knocked on his window. His job is just maintaining the Elan Valley aqueduct but he immediately put the complaint through on his ipad. Just been out to look and there are traffic lights, a water tanker, and a poor man standing in a hole in the road that is well over a metre deep. In the rain.
5) Went to the cinema and was projectionist for Tubular Bells. Well, I don't think I was the target audience. I only knew one song and I, up to that point, had thought it was a spoof written for Smashy and Nicey or similar. (Moonlight Shadow?) I didn't think it was a proper song! I'm sure the musicians were good but throw in 4 women in little petticoats hurling themselves around the stage and there was really nothing in it for me.
