That sounds nasty, PK.
Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep, though I was woken at 2am by the hedgehog flinging the cat's bowl in the air!
2) Changed my bed and got 2 loads of washing done (one still on the line).
3) Went to nearby shopping centre to have my eyebrows threaded (and lovely beard waxed). Pootled around whilst there.
4) Spent a good 1.5 hours on the phone and on the Internet, trying to pay a Swiss company so they could give bigger son a surprise birthday voucher when he arrived in their shop! It was a sad failure in the end, as bigger son got there much sooner than I thought he would and a bank transfer to Switzerland takes 4 days. (why?????!)
I transferred the money to his account in the end and he bought a chef's knife and some other bits (from the Swiss army knife shop).
5) Cooked tomato sauce for the meatballs for tea and for the freezer.
6) Went to the cinema and had a chat. Was nearly asleep (not the fault of the chat).
7) Bigger son released video 3! It is quite fast paced but is the south of France into Switzerland.https://youtu.be/MPp71u__Pp8

Am loving the travel videos Frith
For yesterday,
Out early and got some provisions for the next few days.
A juvenile woodpecker on the apple tree which reminded me that I must stock up on peanuts for the feeders.
Lunch out with two friends, lovely to see them and had a good catch up.
The return of All Creatures Great & Small.
Bed and reading, nights are definitely cooler now and it was cosy to snuggle down under the covers.7 -
1) slept very well then we walked around Dordrecht - very pretty and over 15k steps (Venice didn't reach 10K)
2) pancakes for lunch - eyes were bigger than my belly, should have ordered medium rather than large 🤣 the restaurant had trains (playmobil i think) going round the top of the restaurant and the loo, the latter going round the ladies then out and i assume round the gents then back again. i admit to taking a video!!!
3) then more walking and a coffee at one of the museums - beautiful setting and very nice coffee
4) trip to the supermarket then home for supper - they are mainly vegan and i was pleasantly surprised at the 'fake meat' which was really good - normally i avoid vegan meat and go for pulses instead.
5) borrowed dd1's book on bringing joy to the office - certainly have gleaned some tips for my new home office and meetings, but sadly still no aha moments re. emails. except they take a blinking long time to attend to!!!MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

It’s now Saturday morning. I’ve slept like a log! Apart from a wide awake session at 1am ish . Need to force myself to go for a swim or I won’t and I want to do it every day!For Friday.Slept abysmally! So was glad when it was time enough to get up for a swim. Swam back and forth for half an hour. Just me.The most stunning sunrise. Over the hills.DD1 came in on train, so walked down to meet her and then we had breakfast in the hotel.Took the train out to my old town. It was something I needed to do. I have thought so many times of walking up the ramp at the station and turning left then right past the library and then down to the left. And it’s what I did yesterday. And it was like being emotionally punched in the stomach. Like nothing had changed but every thing has changed, five years? Five minutes. Walked down to my old house which is still an old rambling house. And looked in as much as we could from the pavement and the person in clearly likes plants! On every windowsill! And the back gates were locked so couldn’t see my veg patch. And I don’t actually think of it as ours anymore, it was just something I had to do. But oooft it was hard. And then walked down to the cricket oval where I used to walk my doggy every day and remembered the good walks and the naughty puppy walks too when we were trying to get him used to off lead and he’d run off! Then walked back up past my old house , turned right then turned left and went to meet my Canadian friend. She gave me the biggest hug but I got a mouthful of her long hair in my mouth! And the more she’s squeezing the more I’m eating hair! Anyway we had a lovely catch up ( we message back and forth all the time anyway) she gave me a very thoughtful gift and very kindly paid for lunch whilst I was at the loo or I would have paid for hers.Did a tour of the op shops ( Salvos Shelley remembered me …hello , how are you!, the expensive op shop and the smelly op shop) but nah didn’t see anything that took my fancy!Back to city on train and by then it was lashing down as it does in Melbourne! Torrential…me in sandals ! Back to hotel and just sat ( dozed) till son came in from work. Chatted a bit then he went out and I went to bed after I watched the sun set.8

Sounds like an emotional walk down memory lane Mhags.
For yesterday,
Thinking of DFV and her family, hoping that everything went as well as possible.
Chores done, bed changed and put on softer, warmer sheets plus another blanket ahead of a cool night.
Changed small dogs bedding and she got a bigger blanket too.
Over to see ponio, nice as I’m still meeting new people as it’s a big yard, my girlie stood in the sunshine and dozed off as I gave her a long groom, left out her fleece and that was going on her when the sun set.
Salmon for tea, watched a bit of the vigil then remembered an extra slice and also realised that a new series of Paul & Bob fishing programme had started so downloaded those as well - Frith? I know you like it too.5 -
Evening😆
just watching the sun set over the city.I’ve had a quiet day. Think I just needed it after a busy few days.Slept better than previous night but got up at 7.30am ( should probably just have went back to sleep as I certainly didn’t feel like getting up) went for a swim. Did 20 lengths. I’m not a confident swimmer so this was an achievement but I want to add to it everyday. If I can. Then after getting showered and dressed went and had breakfast with son, he’s not particularly a chatter box and has obviously been quite happily living on his own . Me, well I’m a chatterbox! If I ask he answers ! So it feels like I’m asking all the time to keep a conversation going! Whereas girls and I just chatter constantly. Was supposed to go to DD1 but I was utterly exhausted with jet lag so messaged to apologise and went back to bed.So I slept a couple of hours and then I’ve just sat quietly all afternoon.Went downstairs to the restaurant and had a burger and now I’m upstairs.5 -

So much of late.....
1. Signed benefice book of condolence en route today. Archdeacon preaching tmrw.
2. Enjoying News Quiz twice over, again on R4X to come.😁
3. Preview out on time, but with mysterious glitches. & is here to support our Men’s Nomads, all 4 other matches being away today. Tricky call - ride offered to 1sts away at Harpenden, but everyone's in new up-a-grade Leagues and our Nomads had a vicious time of it last week at Holt. Deliberate GBH in first 5 minutes, very poor subbed ref. Opponents were supposed to be 2nd XV but were actually their 1sts.🤬😤👿
4. A succession of sunny days, windy with it today.
5. All &'s lovely bean varieties and the pink-petalled strawberries are carrying on producing still.

Blessings to all, with wishes and care to those undergoing treatment.
Enjoying the travelogues so much with Frith's Son the Elder....... his wooden spoons were in brisk use for new blackberry jelly.❤😋
