3) the rain having stopped for a few hours, dd1 and I mooched round Dordrecht, exploring the market - dd1 bought 2 huge bunches of sunflowers for 10 euros
4) and we had waffles nom nom

For yesterday,
A good lie-in, the warm cosy sheets helped as the temperature was bbrrr first thing, followed by a lazy breakfast of coffee and croissants.
Work done in the garden, tomatoes are still going strong, likewise the salad leaves, chard should be ready soon and I can’t keep up with all the apples so the blackbirds are feasting on the windfalls. Transplanted some parsley that had self seeded in the gravel next to porch. I did find some time to sit down and read, warm enough in jeans & jumper.Over to see equine girlie, little explore around the outer reaches of the farm, she was nervous by herself so will source a hacking buddy for next time.
By the time I got into the car the footie was long finished and good job as we were beaten by 10 men at home, no pleasure there.
HM pizza for tea, then caught up on some tv, cheeky rum & coke as well.8 -
DFV my thoughts were with you on Friday.
For past couple of days - will skip over Thursday
Friday
1. Enjoyed my dog walk. Very quiet and peaceful.
2. Trip to London after a detour via work as ad left my purse there. Trains were fairly busy.
3. Lunch with parents and sisters to celebrate parents 60th wedding anniversary. A lovely lunch.
4. Went to Green park to see the floral tributes- very moving and heartfelt messages.
5. Home and lit a candle.
Saturday
1. Another trip to London. DS1 wanted to go up early so we went to The Mall and walked through Horseguards to Westminster. So many people.
2. Went to rugby. There are now season ticket holders sitting next to me.
We lost but came away with a bonus point.
3. Went with DH to Royal Albert Hall to watch a classical concert. It was part of his birthday present. I enjoyed it far more than I thought I would.
4. Good journey home.
5. Had 2 minutes silence and singing God save the King and both impeccably observed.8 -
@villagelife Was that the Quins game? Was watching on TV and willing you to win as I'm not keen on Sarries.
I'm a Wasp so not a good start to the season for us.6 -
Evening all!The most rubbish amount of sleep ever! About 2 hours all in. Hoping tonight is better. Breakfast with my boy.
Train to suburb just before my old one. Met DD1 there and friend picked me up. Went to where we used to always go for a Saturday scone back in the day. Change of owner/vibe but very nice. Had a nice lunch which I paid for as friend had kindly picked me up from airport and drive today. Then back to hers just as the heavens opened with hailstones! Then lovely afternoon just chatting and she dropped me off at train station and DD1 off at her house.
We saw a kangaroo on the drive up to her estate and then we’re thrilled to see it go past their back garden. Lots of birdies too.
Home just as the rain was getting heavy again.8 -
Hello again.Lovely to read about all the travelling, sadly no kangaroos to be seen here.Recent pleasures:1) Out for lunch yesterday to celebrate son's friend's birthday, a very stylish, quite recently opened gastro-hotel in town. Lovely lunch and very swish surroundings, I was definitely made for this sort of life!2) Collected a shopping order, some new size TEN trousers, normal for a lot of people but last year my trousers were (whisper it!) sizes 20 and 22. I can now do that thing where you can get into one leg of your old trousers. Makes all the self-denial worthwhile though I still have a way to go.3) A good sleep last night. I was really tired, though that is no guarantee I will sleep well, but I did and feel so much better today.4) Lovely sunny autumn day again, the weather this September has been glorious.5) Tried a new to us - but recommended - local pub/restaurant for Sunday lunch, very good so have booked to take the boys on Boxing Day. It won't work out much more expensive than buying all the food and drink and will be a lot less hassle and will save me a lot of shopping, preparing and cooking. Too soon to be thinking of anything to do with the C-word really but had been told they are already very busy with bookings and, as we need a table for six, it made sense just to get it sorted out of the way. That's all the forward planning I intend to do before 1st December!Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.9

Highdays - a size 10 is good going! I'd be happy with a 14 bottom, 12 top...
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) The BSD continues.
3) Our allotment owner suddenly phoned yesterday and said I have a week to get bigger son's canoe off the allotment (no idea why). This is problematic in that a) he is in Italy, b) I can't lift it or transport it on my little car and c) a week isn't long enough to sell it! Anyway, I was very relieved to get it on Ebay this morning and receive an offer instantly. Hopefully it'll be going on Thursday or Friday. I shall be giving the allotment up pretty smartish.
3) Went to town for a pot of tea and to go to Sainsburys.
4) Did some geocaching very locally in the afternoon.
5) Spoke to the neighbours. They are digging up their kitchen floor (with drills) then will be relaying it with flagstones.
6) Spoke to my school friend on the phone.
7) Bigger son phoned! They are on their way to Pisa, then will catch the train to look round Rome.8 -
For yesterday,
Up early and a bracing walk with small dog, summer’s lease now long gone.
Radio listening, the Archers and DID.
Tidying up of the hedges, beloved cut the grass and the green bin was then full!
Roast chicken and all the trimmings for lunch, am starting to fancy all the autumnal food.
As always the best of the day was early evening, lovely sunset.8 -
Bedtime! Maybe I’ll sleep tonight 🤷♀️ Alarm is set for an early rise so sleep would be nice.
Rubbish sleep last night. Maybe 3 hours max. Breakfast with my boy.I’ve walked over 15000 steps today. Swam too, managed 14 lengths and maybe about 30 breadths, swam for 25 minutes anyway but it turns out it’s school holidays so the pool got too busy for me. Couldn’t do lengths after 14 as kids were jumping in and out. Then more came in so I got out!A nice morning walking & taking lots of photos & then a late afternoon walk.
Son made fajitas for our tea.Watched the funeral but think I’ll need to switch off now as need to try and sleep. May the Queen Rest In Peace .9
