5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

Wow, last time I posted here I was still pregnant with the 8 month old I currently have at my breast!
OS pleasures for yesterday:
1. A lovely veggie cooked breakfast in the morning.
2. Gold in the hedgerow. We foraged up the lane for blackberries and I made a cobbler for pudding.
3. Went on YNAB and started to balance the budget. We have a big deficit as DH took two trips last month, one to see Man U play and another to Edinburgh fringe then walking in Highlands with friends. And we are selling the now untenanted house in England so paying two mortgages. And I go back to work next month - nursery is paid in advance, yet salary in arrears. So long story short first world problems mean this month will be incredibly lean but the pleasure is the security of an emergency fund. Oh, and we should complete on the old house next month which means we can finally renovate here, hooray!
4. Starting to see the seasons change. DH is excited to get his mushroom book out again. We have a car port full of wood and were talking fires, Christmas and all things wintry!
5. Watching the original Top Gun snuggled up to DH on the sofa with a bottle of wine foraged from the cellar. We had a huge summer party this year and ended up with more booze than we bought thanks to our generous friends!8 -
Hey MandM90, many congratulations on the new baby!
For yesterday,
Rough, rough night so the pleasure of getting up, with everything that’s going on my tummy is unsettled which doesn’t help.
Lounged around in PJ’s and caught up on all things Ambridge.
Oops, look at the time, quick dash to get showered and dressed, put a picnic together, strap small dog into car and head off into cathedral city for a family picnic.
A few hours of laughter, fun and catching up on news, it’s been ages since we’ve all been together. The youngest member of the family is now walking so lots of dashing after him as well.
Tired in the evening and fell asleep during Ripley so will need to rewatch today.11 -

3 Hip feeling marginally better with new physio exercises,I know I’m going to need a new one hence 2 but not to be feeling sick with pain is a plus
4 Cleaned kitchen properly and it shows
5 lots of stuff to charity shop
6 Roses having a second blooming
Sorry for so much health related stuff12 -
Hello again.Suffolksue, good to hear you are feeling a bit better, and well done on the pound off. Every one is one less to lose, hurrah!I'm not doing too well today so excuse this post being a bit whiney. I thought a few days of not much to do would be good, it seems not. A bit too much time to think and brood has left me mooching aimlessly around, snarling and snapping and being generally mardy. This grief business is rubbish, and I feel awful for saying that because I know some of you lovely people have had it much worse than me, so I'm really sorry to keep going on about it. Just having a 'poor me' day today, tomorrow will be better.Anyway, pleasures are to be found, though I fear these may be scraping the bottom of the barrel a bit today:1) My daily walk was really hard going today, just wasn't in the mood but felt a bit better for getting out and moving and my son is a very good listener.2) Youngest grandson came in to eat his tea with us, he is such a happy, uncomplicated child, a total joy.3) It's been cold and grey here with a bit of drizzle so didn't feel too guilty reading my book this afternoon even though I couldn't really get into it.4) Quick and easy tea because I'm just not in the mood to cook, the pleasure is that DH will happily sort his own.5) I know you shouldn't wish your life away but I'm very glad today is nearly over and I can have an early night and hope that tomorrow is a better day.Oh, dear! Think I'll leave it at that for today.Hope you have all enjoyed the Bank Holiday and the extra day off.12

Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Bigger son has messaged to say that going back to work was OK yesterday. I presume they have emptied and cleaned out their room by now.
3) Did a few bits of housework so pretty up to date there.
4) Weighed myself and, despite not being on the diet for 6 weeks, hadn't put on the masses of weight that I thought. Still need to lose 2 stones, though! Started the blood sugar diet again so (TMI) have had about 30 jimmy widdles and am restless and prowling around thinking about sugar and carbs.
5) Listened to the football on the radio at 3. Our team lost 0-2 today.
6) Went for a quick walk round the village.11 -
welcome back M&M and congrats
SuffolkSue dreamt I was cleaning the kitchen last night!!!
1) Lovely breakfast, took a teapot back to my room with milk, now in the fridge
2) Spent most of the day on our exhibition stand - lots of networking including meeting ex-colleague who returned to Oz 6 years ago - sooooo lovely to see her and we're now planning a joint paper for Ottawa 2024 (see below)
3) Got a small koala toy (you know, the ones that cling to a light pull) from another stand, lost it, asked for another which I put in my bag for safety, realised that's what I'd done with the first one after it fell off my lanyard, took the 2nd back and my honesty was rewarded with a very nice penguin pin (they were advertising the next Ottawa conference which will be in Melbourne, 2024, very much hoping I can go, never been to the Ottawa conference or Australia)
4) Went to PhD student's talk, very good, and of course stayed for other students' talks in that section
5) Invited to the President's reception - very posh. The amazing Prof Ronald Harden's last one. Very proud to now be Deputy Director of the Centre he started over 40 years ago (must ask him exactly when as there will be a 50th coming up soon). Lots more networking (including an invite to Berlin from a colleague met the last live AMEE so must have been 2019), wine and nibbles and an excellent jazz band. Certainly worse ways to earn a living.
oops meeting the boss at 8 for breakfast. i will be fashionably late!MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Highdays hope today is better .
For Sunday and Monday
1. Good journey to and from Gloucestershire which was good on a bank holiday weekend.
2. Nice pub that we stayed in. Very friendly staff. Comfortable bed and a good night's sleep
3. A lovely time at Highgrove. A very interesting guided tour.
Gardens looked lovely. Reassuring that the hostas have been eaten by snails and slugs but otherwise very healthy. Fred to convince DH he doesn't need to spray things all the time!
4. Afternoon tea with a glass of champagne was excellent. Great service and plenty of food. It was a wonderful gift from the boys for DH.
5. Stopped off at a couple of places in the way home but a good weekend an weather was good so times right as it's very and wet here today.9 -
Good morning. Still sunny.
Hugs to Lainey and Highdays and S Sue . So many worries are so wearing.
D Doll - it sounds as if you're having a high old time. Well deserved after all your hard work. Enjoy!
Managed to get to the supermarket early yesterday to avoid the B H rush, but, oh, the prices!! Coffee which used to be £3.50 is now £5. It's one of the things I can't ( won't!) change brands ( I have tried, honest!) But crikey!! And never any special offers on it either. And this is Asda. We don't even have a Waitrose within miles. Not posh enough! But we can afford it. I fear for those who can't - and not just talking about coffee either. I did put some things in the food bank trolley, which was full so that's good.
Oiled the garden bench again. It slurps it all up, but looks much better now.
Should be meeting my friend today but DH has had a feeling-poorly night and now has a temp so Covid test for him before I meet anyone!
Happy Tuesday everyone

For yesterday,
Bit of a quiet one at home but tbh that’s just what was needed after another rough night.
Over to see my pony, avoided all grumpy yard owners and just spent time with my horse, Capt S came too. Did bring home two of her rugs to be washed and re proofed ahead of the move.
Made a loaf and pottered around the garden while it was proving. Picked up some windfalls and cooked them with a few spices before freezing in batches for later.Egg and chips for tea.
The return of Uni Challenge and Only Connect, quizzing Monday’s are back.10
