Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Cleaned the bathroom then blackleaded the stove plus the fireplace upstairs.
3) Bigger son came home. He had stayed in the van overnight and a couple walked past and said, "swingers?" which made him sit incredibly still and silent until they went on their way !!
4) Smaller son and I went to the football. We saw 2 people from our village and we joked that we could have our monthly Wildlife Club meeting there and then! Our team won 2-0.
5) Set off for the cinema and drove past Glenn (football spectator from earlier). I had the window open so said, "Hoorah!" and he said, "Excellent game!" and did some punching the air as I drove by.
6) Went to volunteer at the cinema ready for 7. A little chat with Mr Eyelashes. Tried looking at him a normal amount, not gazing at him. I have no idea what I said now. He went home. Film started then, after 2 minutes, no sound track. Another volunteer (with a degree in electronic engineering, which we talked about last week) ran up, looked at the banks of equipment and flashing lights and said, "Jesus..." He hasn't been trained as a projectionist so couldn't do anything. Then an electrician came up, who had helped out in the past. He looked at it all and said, "bloody hell".
I paused the film and said I would shut down the entire bank of audio equipment. They nodded, solemnly. Somehow, it all burst back into life after that and we had sound all the way through.
That was all great, so I sat in the theatre to watch the film (mainly music). To my horror, halfway through there was a sort of inbuilt break, with a timer on the screen, which actually was helpful. Everyone got up to get a drink IN THE DARK so I had to run across the theatre, through the foyer and up my little stairs again to bring up the lights.
It was 40 degree plus in the projection room by this point and no one else is allowed upstairs with no public access, so I decided the sensible thing to do was to wait up there for the 15 minutes, dim the lights again and make sure the film carried on after the break. The other sensible thing to do, would be to take my t shirt off then sit in front of the fan so I didn't die of heat stroke... I was wearing the tiniest and tightest of thin strapped vest tops underneath. The sort you would only wear under something else.
Obviously, I have just done the annual bra replacement shop. Of course. So everything is at its maximum and is maximum enough without that extra help.
I have also realised since this evening that I take my clothes off with a flourish, not in a normal way at all. I had never needed to think about that before.
So off came the t shirt, with a massive flourish, and in walked the volunteer to try and help with the lights (already done) so the still moving t shirt got him pretty much in the face, as though I was a stripper. He was then faced with a ginormous women basically in jeans and underwear. He is a small man, shorter than me, with a very petite wife so I imagine this was rather distressing.
I said I didn't know he was there and he giggled a lot, then I decided rushing to get dressed again possibly looked worse than just styling it out. He said something about the heat and, surprisingly, did not linger!
7) And now I'm going to sleep!

Oh Frith, how funny!
For yesterday, bit of a tough day to find pleasure in at times but here we go,
Rough night but could have a lie-in.
Wont go into the ins & outs on a public forum but let’s just say the yard owner has taken a great deal of umbridge into me handing in notice and has been pretty nasty, I just wanted to see my horse 😩
Home and upset so yet again having my lovely man to talk to, he calmed me down and plonked me in the garden with my book and a cuppa.
Listened to the footie on the radio, exciting game and we finally run out 4-3 winners.
Snorkers for tea, pork and black pudding ones from the butchers, yum.

1. Watching rugby again. It was a pre season friendly against a local club whom they have very close links with and the other club gives our academy players game time and also done returning from injury.
It was a good match and glorious weather for it. Players who weren't playing were sitting in the stands too supporting.
2. DS1 picked me up and drove me to the station. He is thinking of applying for another job within the same company. Trains all worked well there and back despite Waterloo being closed. Thankfully we couldn't here a group of young football supporters on the train. On the station platform they were very loud and every other word was a swear word.
3. Walked to Kew gardens after as very close with DH. Not quite as close as London Welsh but cricket was being played at their ground.
Went to look at the giant waterlily which is now a new species. The little glasshouse was packed. The tv show about Kew must be popular.
Went into the temperate glasshouse too and we were amazed at how much everything has grown. We went in soon after it reopened and it looks completely different now.
4. Took a photo of a mushroom growing kit and WhatsApp conversation with sons and girlfriends as my sister bought one for DS2 for Christmas and is still in the back of their cupboard unopened. Not their scene at all.
5. Home and packed as going to Highgrove for a garden your and champagne afternoon tea today. It is birthday present from sons to DH and I have to join him of course.10 -
Frith - I can't stop giggling. What a picture you paint 😂😂8

Well done Frith’s son and 🤣 at the projection room striptease 🤣
Lainey, sorry they have taken umbridge ☹️
recent pleasures:
lunch and catch up with old school work colleagues.
Friend popped in with her dog for a cuppa and catch up.
Went with OH to see Fishermen’s Friends 2 at Odeon luxe with recliner chairs, good film and very comfortable. We took OHs mum with us and went to Wetherspoons for dinner afterwards, she enjoyed it all. The film put us in the mood for our holiday to Cornwall at the end of September.
Paella lunch with friend at a little Spanish Casa restaurant in nearby town, quite tasty 😋
Enjoying the hot tub when it’s hot and especially at dusk when all my twinkly solar fairy lights
come on.
Family coming for get together this afternoon, 10 of us, so lots of food to prepare. There will be lots of chat and wine etc to drink, so should be fun.
An extra, the geese flying over my house, morning and evening, love hearing them.
Have a great Sunday everyone 😊

Good morning. Perfect sunny day here, but somehow just that hint of autumn.
Oh Lainey, how upsetting. I hope your horse can be moved ASAP. I'm sure you'll both be much happier then
Quiet weekend here. D D recovering from laryngitis so staying at home to rest and recover. DS and family back from a week at our caravan. Think they need to rest and recover too! Sounds like a very busy week!
So we are pottering and poodling. Hanging baskets are beginning to go over now so think I might jettison them rather than keep up the effort of watering. Still water in the butts but can save that for other perennial plants in pots.
Little to report really, but that's good!
Still giggling, Frith
Happy Sunday everyone

Hello!A very steady-away sort of day, just what the doctor ordered.Today's pleasures, on a day when very little was done:1) Lovely lie-in after a dream-filled, restless night. must have a lot of sub-conscious mental sorting and unfinished business to be done but luckily can't remember much of the dreams apart from the fact that I had them!2) A lovely autumnal feel to the day, sunny but in a 'quiet' sort of way, my favourite days of all.3) A trying on session has expanded my wearable wardrobe and some bigger clothes packed up for the charity shop. Even my smaller sized jeans look halfway decent now.4) Hubby up and out very early doors so a quiet late morning with coffee and online newspapers.5) Lovely easy tea as only me to cater for. Poached salmon, tiger prawns and smoked mackerel with salad (in a very fishy mood) and raspberries and cream for pud. Yum!11

Posting from Lyons - free internet working yay. work has been hectic and my laptop fried hence missing a few days' posting- Friday was going to work at home but got a call to say my new laptop was in - so 30 minutes later so was I
- Footie at 8 - there was a Dundee match on but landlord had very kindly put a notice up in the front parlour saying 'this room will be showing the Luton match at 8'
- So Dr M and I got to see the match which was not bad at all. And at midnight I reminded him it was my birthday and he could buy me a birthday drink - he declined saying it wasn't a special birthday
(he hit the big 60 last month, I have another year)
- Saturday 23 again hooray. lovely day - town with mum, coffee and cake in Costa, headed for bus and we saw Dr M and Mr A in Dr M's regular coffee shop so I went in to say hello. Mr A wished me a happy birthday so Dr M had to or be shamed by Mr A. he's a strange one. asked me to send him photos from Lyons. Everyone else now in the pub thinks we're a couple 🤣 - like I say a strange one
- Botanic Gardens for a late lunch, lovely walk round then back to pick up the dogs, walked mum home and carried on for a glorious walk up Balgay
- Back home, finished talk, finished some marking, packed, then super chat with DD1 - she is back to work, sees the consultant for the results of her biopsy and next stages on Wednesday - can't wait till i get to see her next month
1. up at silly o'clock for lift from the boss to airport - sunrise glorious
2. breakfast in the lounge - she has a life time platinum membership so can take a guest
3. long link at Amsterdam so we had champagne and lunch and got some serious work done. a very productive time
4. flight to Lyons, safely arrived at the hotel, let Dr M know and he sent a nice text by return (though Leicester now bottom, not quite so bad as Dundee Utd loss to Celtic and yes that was also in the text - he's famous for his single word texts so this text was an essay!)
5. we found a pizza place for supper - Caesar salad, chips and forwent any more alcohol - one of our colleagues who has been at the pre conference event turned up by coincidence - it's where they've eaten every night!
Early start tomorrow so going to have a cuppa and bed. catch up soon. xxxMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

DD - he's my DrM. Though there's no maybe from his end, I'm sure.
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Bigger son came round and we had a look round TKMaxx (for things he didn't buy, for a house he doesn't yet own!) then went to Sainsburys. He has gone back to work tonight (after walking out on Monday) so is very nervous about that. Hopefully it is going ok. It is his girlfriend's last day today so he needed to go anyway to clear their old room out.
3) I could hear smaller son earlier making strange mmmm noises and chatting to his friend online so I listened for a bit. He was describing (and eating) a stroopwaffel to his friend who had not heard of them before.
4) I picked blackberries from behind the village hall.
5) I finally got round to cleaning the toaster that I bought from a charity shop recently. It was £15 but it is a posh Dualit toaster.
6) Tidied up and hoovered and steamed the floors. Put a load of washing out.
7) I contacted my referee and filled in another form for the post helping asylum seekers.
8) Phoned my school friend.
Still waiting for the missing GCSE result!9
