Hello.Glad to be up after the most rubbish sleep. However I came down to the most horrendous mess! Son had ‘stuff’ everywhere in every room downstairs! DD2 said tonight ‘I don’t know how you didn’t lose it!’Lovely chat with DD1
Then hugged my boy tightly as he’s away to live in Australia again. It’s all happened quite quickly, he was successful in interview for a job and they wanted him to start asap…that’ll be Monday!Friend kindly took us to the airport another very quick hug and off he went. You now have to pay £4 just to drop off ! Which is ridiculous!Stopped at my favourite place on way back.Still came back to stuff everywhere! Waaah!Kind of pottered around sorting it out. It’s been a lovely day just started raining just now. Doors open all afternoon.Made tuna pasta for my tea.Sorted through my pantry cupboard as son had brought down the remaining food from his house. Have a bag for the food bank.Introduced Haggis to his new doggy sitters. This is a huge thing for me and they were lovely and liked him and he liked them.Phone call from vets this morning he can go back to normal walking! Yay!And I think I’ll head to bed shortly as tomorrow is another day!12 -
Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a terrible sleep, considering the nerves.
2) Woken early by the phone going. I was expecting the GCSE results to be emailed or, if they did not arrive, to drive to college at 10 to collect them. Anyway, Mr P was on the phone and, after a few pleasantries, said there was a problem...
Part of smaller son's English GCSE paper did not scan properly so has not been marked.Of course, college only found out about it this morning when they went through the marks and saw that it said "English Lang - pending". They had phoned the exam board before phoning me and (allegedly) they had found his handwritten paper again and the last question was supposed to be being marked today. No idea why the exam board didn't do this earlier! Mr P sounded like he was about to faint with stress.
Mr P's voice then cracked and he said, "I think you'll be happy with his marks", then we talked about the English paper mix up a bit more. He then said again, "I think you'll be really pleased..." I said, "Do you know his other marks?" and he just said, ".....yes....." then I could hear him shout to the secretary and she was just emailing them. He said, "You'll get them now, BYE!" and hung up!
So English is "pending", maths is a level 4 (old C) and Biology is a 5 ! So smaller son now has qualifications. He was so chuffed. They usually get a couple of passes each year in total for GCSE (small special school), hence the teacher nearly having a little cry.
3) Bigger son and his girlfriend had slept in the van overnight but reappeared to play monopoly then they cooked dinner (chicken wings with lime and salads).
4) I popped to M and S as smaller son had gone back to sleep and I didn't know what to do! Then I went to Sainsburys to get cake making ingredients.
5) Got home and made a cake to celebrate.
6) My brother popped in to say well done, then my parents later on. Also had some spare courgettes from my brother and he had mended my spade (I snapped the handle last week).
7) Had a Chinese takeaway for tea.
8) Phoned my school friend.
9) Took photos of lots of mushrooms that have appeared in the garden and my brother in law identified them for me. Edible, but not worth the effort!11 -

Hello again,I'm afraid I haven't been in the right frame of mind to post this week, still feeling very spaced out and emotional after the funeral on Monday so was leaving it for a while as pleasures have been a bit thin on the ground. However, I too have been waiting anxiously for Frith's boy's results (and, indirectly, Frith's results). I am thrilled for you both on his results so far, you must be so proud, hope he is pleased with himself! Truly cannot believe the carry on re his English paper! I'm exasperated on your behalf, nothing to do with your lad's education has been straightforward, has it?But today, my pleasures 1-5 are Frith's boy's results, definitely worth that cake!Hx10

Good morning
Mhagster - I hope the dizzy head ( my grandma's term - though she said 'heed'!) has gone away. I've had vertigo which I think is similar and it's an awful feeling.
Frith - so many congratulations to your son and to you. Well done , both of you. ( and can't believe the incompetence of the exam board. Though having been an examiner for many years, actually I can!)
A rainy day yesterday so plodded on with housework. But then gloriously sunny at teatime. Definitely 'best part of the day.' Funny how often that happens.
Major sneezing attack in the middle of the night.I got up so as not to wake up DH. I am a hay fever type of person but why it should suddenly start at 2 am is a mystery.
So I'll be having a lazy day, but there's nothing spoiling.
Happy Friday everyone
