5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3
Options
Comments
-
1. Someone took cheesecake into work which was delicious. It certainly brightened the day.
2. Email sent to manager at work. I'm not prepared to accept stuff any more so email sent and she can deal with it.
3. An email sent to local MP about our planning issues and how 4 properties in exactly the same position have been given 3 different ways to resolve it by the same planning officer.
I would like consistency.
4. Another recipe for stuffed marrow tried. My favourite so far.
5. Tickets booked to watch rugby in Saturday- a pre-season friendly.10 -
For yesterday,
Busy day, household chores first thing, bathrooms cleaned and all floors swept down & wiped.
Off to the garden centre in the village. I came back with more than what was on my list of course, trellis for the side of the shed, two trough planters as they had a deal on, liquid seaweed, various seeds and a gorgeous Rudbeckia that will add a much needed splash of autumn colour in one of my beds.
Lunch and then out to the garden, more salad leaves planted up inc rocket, more chard as well. Pinned down a strawberry runner into a small pot and when it takes I will move all the plants into one of the large planters.
Reading in the garden, we are just getting to the arrival of Anne of Cleves and we all know how well that went!
Inspired by other threads on the forum I sat and wrote a small list of a few bits which will be useful as we head into AW.8 -

Good afternoon. Very muggy here.
DfV - sending many hugs, along with great admiration for the obviously fine young men your sons are. You must be so proud.
Frith - don't dismiss Dr M Mk 2 too quickly. He may turn out to be a good thing!
I've definitely been MIA lately but that's because everything has been very samey and I don't want to bore everyone. On the other hand no news is definitely good news in our family so we'll take that as a win.
Have discovered I can make apple crumble in the air fryer. ( ours is not one with a big round thing in. It looks more like a little oven with two shelves). I'm pleased about that as it saves trying to find things to cook to justify putting the big oven on. I hardly use it nowadays.
Liver and onions for tea. A favourite here ( and definitely good for you!)
Tried on clothes for cruise. All still fit but it's so long since I wore anything dressy I can't decide what goes with what. Or which shoes? Or handbag? Don't have that problem when wandering along a coastal path or round a garden centre! But a nice problem to have.
Happy afternoon everyone

This is ridiculous.
Sorry all. Have just spent over 2hrs doing catch-up post, copied, saved in 2 places. Now utterly, completely gone.
Can't do this any more.
All that remains is below:
"10-page catch-up read sortakinda, with many lengthy intermittent signal drops and vain attempts to add thanks'....

Wishing everyone well.
I just don't have time or connectivity for this.
All blessings 🙌

Oh Ampersand
How frustrating for you. And for us too, wondering what we've missed.
Sympathetic hug x10 -
I have been so dizzy today, it’s been horrible. Usually getting better by now!So absolutely hee haw has been done. The very quick doggy walk was very quick. It dried up late afternoon after a very wet start. So washing was moved outside. And that’s about it! 😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫11

Yes, just lost a long post by accidentally clicking on the "back" key... I had suggested to Ampersand to write a paragraph and save it, then go back and edit...
Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Good to get up after a non existent sleep. I'm still moping around.
2) Bigger son returned after sleeping in his van and we made a cooked breakfast.
3) Got various things done round the house.
4) Bigger son's girlfriend came at 4 and we had a game of Settlers of Catan.
5) Went to my brother in law's birthday tea at 5pm. Quite a few people there and nice food. My sister's sister in law (no word for that relationship!) just would not stop going on about smaller son, why wasn't he there, what was he going to get in his GCSEs, what college was he going to afterwards, what did he want to do as a job... There is no answer to any of those questions and I knew I was answering them with shorter and shorter sentences. Finally she said, "Why isn't he staying on if he is 16?" and I said he is 19 and the penny must have dropped that 19 year olds don't usually take GCSEs... It's not her fault, I only see her every few years but really, give it up, woman!
12 hours to go.
6) Bigger son and his girlfriend are now stopping in the van, parked by my car! I'm going to watch television in bed.10 -
Ampersand - an sorry about your post
Mhags - hope you are less dizzy today
1. Day ok at work - one result from my email but other concern is unresolved but their are aware of it.
2. Messages from a former colleague. Cheered me up.
3. Did water the pots and then it rained all night! Grass may grow now.
4. Easy tea as feeling tired.
5. An early night and reading my book.9 -
Rats to the lost post Ampersand, frustrating indeed.
For yesterday,
Warm & muggy so everything felt like an extra effort to do, over to see my equine girlie and work done in the school, the jumps were still out after a clinic on Monday so had fun over those.
Home and pleased to get a cool dress & sandals on.
Having made a decision an afternoon of research and contacting, all change but hopefully for the better.
As is our habit this summer an hour spent sitting in the garden after beloved has finished work.
Tea was feta & spinach pie, watched a bit of cricket and then Shetland, no spoilers but oh my!
