Oh Frith, that put a big smile on my face this morning, having been with you over the years as you have fought & fought for your son to get a decent education have to say what an achievement for you both! Cake for breakfast? ☺️🎉
For yesterday,
Woke early to a thunderstorm, beloved brought me a cuppa in bed and we sat up reading for a while listening to the storm, one clap of thunder was so loud it set off my car alarm!
Rain, so much rain, driving through the countryside and lots of roads were flooded as the fields struggled to cope.
My drive culminated in a visit to a new yard, it’s on a big 500 acre farm with miles of off road hacking, decent facilities and one of my mates already has her horse there so the upshot of it all is we are on the move! It’s been on the cards for a while now as things have deteriorated at our current yard and it’s definitely time to move on, sad in a way as we’ve been there for quite a few years but life changes and we must adapt mustn’t we.
So, arrangements made with pal for transport etc and notice email sent.
Sat down in the evening feeling a tad weary with it all, tea and a glass of wine helped.

Frith so pleased to hear how well smaller son did. Congratulations to you both.
Mhags hugs for you as D'S has moved back to Australia.
1. Good day at work - I enjoyed it as non of the toxic people were there.. I wish it could be like that all the time.
2. Rain and water butts almost full. Hopefully grass will start to recover.
3. Some paperwork done which needed to be done.
4. Messages with both sons and both seemed happy
5. Eating from the fridge and managed to delay a food shop.10 -
Hello again. Some nice, quiet pleasures for Friday:1) A lovely day but just starting to feel a bit autumnal, lovely and gentle.2) The nights are drawing in so no guilty feelings about cosying down earlier.3) Nice mooch round the garden centre, took the little fella and he enjoyed feeding the baby goats in the farm bit.4) Sorting through old photos, a few at a time, and directing them to people who will appreciate the memories they conjure up.5) Still feeling a bit waffy and washed out but nice to be back here among friends.Hoping for a steady-away weekend, not a lot planned so hoping for a bit of downtime.Enjoy the long weekend.11

Hello!A mix of a day. Quiet/ busy(ish)
Lovely walk with my doggy this morning. Colours on trees just starting to change. He was so happy and excited to be out and somewhere different.
Popped in to mums on way back ( had had a very weird dream and just wanted to check every thing was okay which it was !) doggy ate some blackberries.
Was just in and friend called so quick chat with them.Cleaned bathroom. Sorted through some clothes.Had a training session for work in the afternoon. Enjoyed it.Watching a new to me telly program called 911 Lone Star. On the second series. Easy watching.
Dropped a bag of sons food at food bank. He’s still enroute. I’m not sad at all. I’m happy that he knows what he wants, that he got a job in place before going. He’s going back home, it’s where we made our home and where my children spent their formative years. They have friends there and we have good family friends there so if he did need help it’s available. And he’s a blooming grown man!12 -
Thank you for all your kind comments. Writing here has kept me going over the years!
Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Bigger son has been here (though has not long left) and is feeling the magnitude (?) of leaving work and getting ready for his trip. I took him out for breakfast then a quick rush through the charity shops in carpet town. We didn't buy anything. Also dropped some bits in the skips.
3) We chucked the rest of the garden tidyings in to my car. Took the two large slabs down to my parents plus some herbs that had been in planters.
4) Had a pie for tea with cous cous and courgettes.
5) Looking forward to the Last Leg.
6) 2 emails from college today saying they had phoned the exam board. The only information that they could glean was that smaller son's English paper is now in the "results" section, so perhaps that is a step forward!11 -
1. A dog walk - first one in ages. Enjoyed it and saw loads of deer. Had a chat with a couple I often see.
2. Some housework done and it's still looking tidy.
3. Met a friend for lunch and then went and viewed a flat with her. She has to move from her flat as the landlord is selling it. She has been there 10 years. It was a nice flat.
It was good to have a proper catch up with her.
4. Did some gardening when I got back. Little things which I had been meaning to do for a while. Looks better.
5. A drink in the garden with DH watching the bats.10 -
For yesterday,
Bit of banking and admin first thing, including email giving notice to yard.
Food shopping and coffee with my friend.
Bit of work in the garden, my tomatoes are going great guns now and production will soon overtake consumption so need to make sauce for the freezer.
Support from my beloved as he talks me through worries and concerns.
Tasty tea, salmon en croute followed by ice-cream, may well have had wine as well!9 -
Frith's/smaller son's news has acted as incentive for me to emerge from resting/lurkdom again. Those results are flipping fantastic. I am so pleased for him, and for you. The effort and patience this has taken has been huge. I really hope that the English fiasco is quickly resolved and is as positive as Maths and Biology - keeping my fingers crossed.
Will try to do a five-things post before the end of the weekend.

Hi everyone, hope you are having a good Bank Holiday weekend.Pleasures for today:1) Lovely sunny day. Does the weather know it is a Bank Holiday weekend?2) Capable DH has saved us from catastrophe by being able to mend cars, bikes and anything else that needed mending today.3) Nice afternoon at a country park with DH, my bairn and grandsons 2 & 3 who delighted in finding sticks and poking them in water and other boyish activities.4) Biscoff gelato is truly scrummy, not a pleasure that you can feel it settling on your hips as you eat it. Ooops!!!5) Nice diet tea of steak with creme fraiche and grain mustard sauce, celeriac chips and homemade red cabbage and apple coleslaw followed by a long walk to undo the damage from this afternoon's indulgence. So, even in trying times, there are pleasures to be found, and two more weekend days to come.12

Hello (and a hello to Broomstick nice to see you !)
it’s been a lovely day here. A clear sky meant it was a wee bit chilly this morning but it brightened into a lovely warm day.
Very quick chat with my boy in the middle of the night. Long journey but arrived at his sister’s safely. Temporary accommodation until he’s sorted himself out!Had to go town first thing, held off till today as it’s free parking at weekend.
Dropped some things off at charity shop. Some mum things that I’d thought I’d maybe keep but don’t really need them & someone else might appreciate them more.Post office with some parcels that were all labeled and paid for. Very friendly counter assistant .Nipped in to M&S.
Into 3 charity shops and came away with 2 pairs of cropped jeans and 2 tee shirts. All washed, dried and wait for it…ironed! Then had to go and pick up sunglasses at big supermarket opticians. Still other pair to get.Home! Doggy in the car and off we went to our favourite place and had a lovely walk. It was warming up nicely. As well as being my favourite place there’s not many other doggy’s. Lots to sniff though!Back home and decided to hoover my car. It’s been like a removal van/dustbin lorry for 3 months and I will get it valeted once house is sold and no more tip trips needed but for now it’s a bit cleaner inside than it was. Friend passed by as I was in driveway so we chatted for absolutely ages!!Hoovered downstairs. Cleaned downstairs loo.A final load of washing as discovered son had left his bed throw in the garage so washed that and done hats and scarves that had been in my boot!Did an ironing! A rare occurrence now ( I used to iron everything!) but only really iron linen tops now. And new tee shirts and jeans too seeing as I had iron on!DD2 and her chap came in briefly so quick chat before they went back out.A good day.11
