5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

Frith - congratulations to your son. A fantastic achievement.
1. Another ok day at work - another day with no managers there does seem to be a link between two. Small frustrations with a colleague but not enough to spoil the day.
2. A consultant at work came and thanked me for making him see a patient. He started treatment for her immediately.
3. Managed to get past a road closed on way to work. From my road though there wasn't a road closed sign until the road was closed. Coming home from work had to go long way round.
4. Watered my indoor plants and one of them is looking much healthier now. The others were all looking ok before I watered them.
5. Cooked lasagne for tea. It was good and enough to freeze a couple of meals worth.

Drum roll indeed Frith, what an achievement!
For yesterday,
Can I join the Mhags no sleep club? Another rubbish night so the pleasure of shower & coffee.
Into horsey town for a food shop, kept to list but did manage a few bits rtc and have stuck to budget for month.
A few surveys done on Prolific and got renewal for car insurance which is less than last year but will still check.
Quick sort out of shed with small dog on guard for any escaping spiders!
Baked mackerel and SF veg for tea and caught up on GW from last week.

Good morning. More sun😀
Frith - wonderful news. He must be so proud. And you too. Rightly so.
D Doll - had to look up pecha kucha. Sounds a lot more exciting than giving out handouts, putting them up on the overhead projector ( remember those?) then reading them out to the audience! I've sat through many such sessions!
Admiral - glad you're here. Was getting worried you 'd been sent to the naughty step again.
Met my friend for coffee and wander round outlet shops. I was looking for a little evening type handbag. Didn't find one but she later WhatsApp -ed photos of several handbags she had which I could borrow. So kind.
Then DD came for tea bringing half a dozen handbags for me to choose from! Think this might be the way to go! Just put the word out that I need something and kind folk offer me a loan of theirs!
DGC here for the day. Just the oldest two as little one is at nursery. We'll still be exhausted by day's end. But in a good way.
Happy Wednesday everyone

Good morning, everyone.Thank you so much for all the understanding and kindness you have shown me since I joined you. Little did I know at the time that events would move so quickly but I'm so glad I plucked up the courage to come on board, your support has been amazing and I am truly grateful. Now to happier things and lovely pleasures:
1) Frith's lad - what an amazing result, good things come to those who wait! I am overjoyed for both of you, truly made my day! Many, many congratulations to both of you.2) A much better day yesterday, just have to accept it will be up and down for a while and make the most of the up's.3) Took youngest grandson out, his choice of lunch venue resulted in a Happy Meal (!) which did make him happy and I was most impressed he chose a bottle of water over a fizzy drink and melon instead of fries. Good choices for a 7 year old!4) An evening out for the first time in a long time - dinner and cocktails and a trip to the theatre. Can't remember the last time I was out after dark in the city, felt very 'happening' and buzzy, even on a Tuesday night.5) Beautiful bouquet of flowers arrived this morning from three pals who have been thinking about me. So many caring people in my life, I am truly blessed.Hope you have a good day, September tomorrow, the time for new school shoes and filling pencil cases and peaceful, autumn days hopefully.11 -
Hi All, been a while
Have no hope of reading back but did see Son of Frith exam results - well done both of you. Amazing.
Pleasures recently (don't even know when last post was so apologies for any duplications).
1. Went festivalling - Boomtown and Beautiful Days. Boomtown was tough, sooooo hot. BDs was lovely as ever. Good music (mainly), good food, good company.
2. My travelling companion was easy to get along with and bought me gin (not while driving!)
3. Went to Glastonbury town in between the two festivals and stonehenge.
4. Been to Sicily, lovely lovely place - saw cities, churches, old towns, volcanoes, greek temples and modern art installations. Good food and wine and met some lovely (and some hilariously rude) people
5. my bed.I wanna be in the room where it happens10 -
Well done 👏 to the Friths
Family get together at mine on Sunday went well. Lots of food, drinks, chat and laughs. OHs recently widowed nearly 90 year old mum came for a few hours, think she was a bit bewildered but she said she enjoyed it and it got her out for a while. There were 11 of us and I hadn’t catered for that many since pre covid so I was in a bit of a tiz as to what to do first, but it all went down well.
Round to friend’s last night. She makes a very good lasagne. My lovely OH picked me up so I could have a few glasses of red 🍷😊
Trip to Hygienest this morning (my big fear) done with for another 3 months 😊
Then trip to Lidl’s and I have spent enough to get my £10 off next shop.
Now sort of watching Andy Murray 🎾🤞
night all 💤

Hello! Oh I’ve been gallivanting all day!Up early. Was a chilly start to the day but warmed up.Out with doggy.Pottered around. Cleaned bathroom. Tidied the pull out cabinet that I keep spices/ herbs/oils in. Washed it, re-lined it with kitchen roll and refilled. Next random job was tidy my ribbon collection! Twas a tad messy but isn’t anymore! Then I had to gallivant for the first time. I’m using a doggy sitter for the first time ever for an upcoming event and need to get them to know each other so I went out, she came in an hour later for half an hour and then I came back an hour after that. Was just a bit odd. Having to go out to have someone in!Anyway I went to a near-ish garden centre, I’d kindly been given vouchers after mum died so bought 2 nice clematis. Met an old work colleague so had a lovely chat with her and then the niecelys minus great niece joined me for lunch. Great nephew had just finished nursery. So was told all about that.Lovely drive to and from. Stunning countryside filled with hay bales.Home. Hello doggy! Did you have a visitor when I was out? Then it was time to get ready for off out again. Dinner with a friend. Last trip cancelled when I’d no voice in May! Anyway much to chat about as always. Nice meal. ( music a bit loud, I felt like an old fart but we were shouting at each other!) Had lovely pate and then macaroni .Just in and alarm set for 4am! Bah!10

well done frith's son
sounds fab vjsmum
1) best news - DD1 does have autoimmune hepatitis they think they can stop any more damage - strong drugs to start then milder i guess for the rest of her life, but may not need transplant
2) last day of conference - fab - and got a picture with the outgoing General Secretary of the Assoc. He is one of the kindest, most thoughtful thought-provoking men I know. He introduced me to the incoming General Secretary telling her I was one of his favourite people (and this was before I had told him what I thought of him) - an amazing role model
3) chaired an amazing session - very inspiring talks - and met up with an old friend - we'd lost touch after the marriage break-up - was super to see him again
4) after the conference had a lovely walk round the park with a kindred spirit
5) back to the hotel then a very nice meal with colleague.
Early start tomorrow but am packed. Night all xxxMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Thank you, everyone.
That sounds like more positive news, DD.
Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Bigger son and I went to take my car to be cleaned and cleaned out before its MOT. While we were waiting, we went round the charity shops and had a cup of tea in M and S.
3) Also dropped bigger son's girlfriend off and got to meet her mum for the first time!
4) Popped to my sister's so bigger son could say goodbye before he goes away. She is going to order smaller son a football shirt (from his team) for passing his exams.
5) Popped to my parents' so they could say goodbye.
6) Went to a bat survey outside Stratford upon Avon and had a walk by the river Stour. Also had a drink in the YH cafe beforehand.9 -
DD good news about your DD1
1. Work happened - manager was in.
2. Eventually got home after a much longer detour than expected. When a sign days road closed I expected the same road to be closed at 5pm as was closed at 9am but obviously that was me being stupid as at 5 the road closed sign meant all roads at a crossroads were closed not just one of them.
3. A quick positive response from our local MP about a problem we have with council and planning.
4. A long chat with my parents. They are ok.
5. Fish for tea - it was very tasty.10
