That is better news DD
For yesterday,
Clean around, changed the mantlepiece decs to an autumn theme and swapped over the door wreath.
Hmm, keeping my dignity in the face of increasingly hostile behaviour from yard owner, drove over to pick up my tack as apparently it HAD to be out of the tack room immediately, popped out to see ponio for a much needed cuddle. Just a few days to go.
Lunch and then into horsey town to drop off a couple of her rugs for cleaning and re proofing, popped into OpenDoor with some donations as well.
Chat with my friend.
Bit of cricket then Shetland.

As yous nose, The Admiral is going back to work as he could not refuse the pension! Kerching! So me ditties will be a tad short in the future, butt not the nonsense!" That well remain the same as ever! All that money is better in the purse than being left to ...
So here is what has happened in your version of the life of the Admiral!
Watched Top Gun Maverick on the river service. Very good, though I thinks loosely based on 633 Squadron! Cheeses and wobbleades were taken!
Was in the Jim again last eve to keep me self in trim and beach ready!
Then home to watch the gooooooooners on the box. FiL was in a panic as he could not found it on his virgin box, butt I sore ted him out. Reversions foods were ate, as I lick to now how others suffer. Then wobbleades and cheeses!
After another proper brekfest, tuck the Albatross to her work. I have one more attempt on the land speed record before Monday! Details if IO sett one over the weakened.
Kitty is inn a sulk as I think she nose that I will not be home for instant nibbles and feeds from Monday. I bee on the choo choo and scooped up by the Albatross!
Jenny will kepts you all with her
Tomorrow depends on what you do today!I work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!11 -
Sounds more positive DD
Pleasures for yesterday
1. felt unwell (not a pleasure) so let my body have a rest and watched two episodes of Virgin River
2. Soup for lunch and GF pasta bake for tea
3. did two loads of washing
4. just being home...
5. banked
Have a great day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens10 -
Good afternoon - and still it's sunny.
D Doll - a diagnosis and plan of action is always a good thing, and a relief too.
V Life - I sympathise re roadworks. Our village is completely ringed with them!
We had a lovely day yesterday with DGC. It seems ages since we had a full day together and we made the most of it.
Just watered the pots in the garden. They're not too bad really as it's not as hot as a couple of weeks ago. Just need to keep them going until it rains.
Watched Shetland last night. Still enjoying it but I did think last night, following on from last week , was a bit unlikely ( trying not to give any spoilers!)
Lamb kebabs and veggie rice for tea, followed by cookies made with DGD yesterday. They are ridiculously rich so I made sure they took most of them home. Save us from ourselves!
Happy teatime everyone10 -
Evening all.Gorgeous sunny day with a welcome breeze, love September.DD - encouraging news re your daughter, so much better when you know what you are coping with. Best wishes to her.Today's pleasures:1) A big bag of windfall cooking apples from a garden wall on our walk last night, crumbles and pies will be made. Love a freebie!2) The bigger car finally passed its MOT on the third go, grrr.... it is on its last legs and it failed twice on emissions but was useful for ferrying the oldies with their assorted walkers, wheelers, wheelchairs and so forth so we kept it going. Not needed any more so we can now start to look for a more suited to us and newer replacement.3) Spent most of the day at my mum's house, starting to sort and clear. Not a pleasure in itself but there were four of us sharing the jobs and we all cracked on and got a lot done.4) Had a good chat with my sister and she is struggling with the emotions of it all too - not a pleasure in itself, of course, but we both agreed we feel better knowing we're not the only one. It's the little things that undo you every time, my brother couldn't understand why we were in tears over an old chipped dish, even when we said that mum had always used it for the Christmas nuts every year for as long as we could remember. It would appear this is not a man thing, obviously, though DH does have a wonderful knack of being able to say just the right thing at the right time (generally!!).5) Home is a wonderful sanctuary to come back to. We moved here just before the first lockdown and the place had to be gutted and virtually rebuilt so we spent the best part of two years living in our son's lounge (kitchen, settee and bed in there and we used the downstairs cloakroom) and showered in one of their bathrooms. So it is all shiny and new and lovely but somehow it needed life experiences to make it into 'home' and we have had plenty of those in the last year! Anyway, it is definitely a home now and when I'm feeling bruised and battered by life it is a lovely, calm, safe place to be.Right, early tea and feet up tonight, we have done enough and tomorrow is another day.Enjoy your evening.11

What a day!
1) Not a bad sleep until late dawn. I had stacked some bags of bigger son's stuff on top of each other and one fell down from the top with a crash in my room! It was up there with the terrifying noise you used to get in the old days when a poster fell off the wall.
2) Thought I'd go into town. Miles from home, realised the emergency stop I had done had absolutely butchered the brakes on my ancient car. Atrocious, constant noise, intermittent actual braking... Went to 2 tyres and brakes places in town and phoned a third - all fully booked until Saturday or next week. One helpful man walked out to the car with me and the brake shoe had completely disintegrated. Sat in the car for a bit (me, not the man!)
Decided to drive to my local garage where the car is booked in for its MOT next week anyway. 14 mile drive took well over an hour. I had the hazard warning lights on and crept along every back lane I could find, pulling over to let people overtake or waving them on.
Got to the garage. Sadly, twinkly eyed man was nowhere to be seen but the nice blonde man came out. Drove it, looked horrified, said it was thoroughly broken. Parts ordered for next week. I couldn't leave it at the garage as the road outside was shut and being retarmaced (of course!) So I drove to the car park of the village hall in that village.
Started walking home (5 miles) and a swarthy man pulled over in an old, white van and gave me a lift (bigger son). Phoned the lady in charge of the village hall to say please don't get the awful old car towed away as it is mine. She was chatty.
3) Got home. Pondered how to pay another £300 for brakes on top of the cost of the MOT. £100 in the bank. Had an email as I sat down saying I am no longer entitled to 25% off my council tax as smaller son is no longer in education. Pondered how to find the extra money for that.
Checked post. I knew I was going to get a cheque from the estate for my auntie. Today I had a letter with the total. It is not untold riches, but it is to me, so sons will be getting some, we will be moving from our 2 up 2 down with no parking and a garden 3 metres deep to somewhere more practical and I will be on Ebay for a replacement piano once we have moved. It is the only thing I have had to give away (to make more room) that I have really missed.
4) Looked at bus times online (a few a day here) and miraculously I can get to my training at the cinema tomorrow morning and to the football on Saturday afternoon. Dad of Frith is going to drive me to the cinema on Monday (like I'm 12!) and will stay and watch the film.
5) Did a bit of tidying and got the washing dry on the line.
Very tired tonight. What a strange week.

Evening all.
Highdays, I'm glad you are surrounded by lots of caring people. I haven't yet caught up on your story but it sounds as if you've been through tough times recently.
DD, so glad the news about your daughter is positive given the circumstances.
Five recent pleasures:
1. Must be a month for cars - mine goes in for service/MOT etc tomorrow and I know the bill will be more than the basics because the engine is looking rather oily underneath and it wasn't feeling quite right yesterday or today when I drove it. This month is a big bills month for me so, like Frith, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. (Frith, the timing of your auntie's money was impeccable!) Pleasure was that, despite my concerns, my car made it home ok in one piece this evening and the garage is in the village so I don't have far to drive tomorrow morning. I wasn't able to afford to renew my car rescue cover this summer so driving a possibly ailing car leaves me feeling a bit vulnerable.
2. Did my first (in many, many years) volunteer session for a charity shop in the nearby town, think it might turn out to be quite fun.
3. DS2's girlfriend has bought the most beautiful puppy and they collected it today (from a responsible and experienced breeder). The photos are gorgeous. Since it's the first night for the puppy away from her mum and remaining siblings, I can't see DS2 or g/f getting much sleep. They have a challenge ahead of them but I think they'll do really well.
4. Meantimes, I've been researching patterns for knitted dog coats ready for the colder weather
5. Humus and baguette for an easy supper.
Sweet dreams

Good morning! My brain is scrambled this morning! Early morning chat with son and a can you transfer dollars and I’ll transfer you pounds request…sure! Not happening as it’s sending texts to my old Australian number and won’t let me update my details and the ‘chat with a robot’ thing is down! It must be a new thing as I’ve transferred money plenty times and it’s never been needed!Anyway today is of course a new day! That I want to just spend in the garden tidying up. I’ve a whole pile of pots that I brought from mums that need moved. Just plonked at side gate at the moment.Yesterday I was up at 4am. Very quick doggy walk in the dark. Then in at work for 90 minutes. Saw the most amazing sunrise. Was just going outside to the back store at work and wow!Took doggy up to our favourite place and had a lovely wander. Then we went to mums and I filled her newly emptied bins! Had piles just waiting to go in. Quick chat with her NDN.Home and cut the grass. Then back in to work for a launch event that went very well. I chatted to so many lovely people.Dark by the time I got home but chatted to friend on phone for an hour.

Lovely to hear that your home is now your sanctuary Highdays rather than just somewhere to live.
Good news re Auntie’s money Frith and yay to a piano sometime in your future.
For yesterday,
Met my friend for coffee and did a small food shop.
A warm, sunny day so a couple more jackets washed ahead of winter. Made a loaf.
Lunch and then out to see my elderly pal, she was on good form and the most alert for a couple of weeks after a cut down on morphine. At her request I picked some tomatoes for her, chopped then up and popped them in their freezer. Also had a word with a man cutting a hedge two properties down re doing theirs, all sorted.
Evening walk with beloved and small dog.
Eldest niece sent through some pictures of the family picnic, happy days.
