as the world news seems to go from bad to worse and I come to terms with the fact that romance and me are currently on parallel tracks let me try to think of 5 mse pleasures, not to mention Leicester match
1) Radio 4 (woke to lovely music and reflections, now listening to Ed Reardon on catch-up
2) left over risotto for lunch with mum
3) walking the dogs up Balgay - the autumn sun is gorgeous
4) getting my washing dry - not easy with the rain this morning
5) hearing the refuse collectors are coming tomorrow

2. Treated ourselves to coffee and cake. Very expensive but delicious. I had pistachios and rose.
3. A long walk through Kensington window shopping.
4. Collected cobnuts from the garden when I got home. Two bags full already.
5. Chat with neighbour.10 -

You did not need that piece of paper in the end.Weekly disservice begins on Saturday will all the bits inn your version of the lives of The Admiral! Oh, and yes I will let it all out about the prawn poodles we is having twice this week as well!I work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!7 -
Evening all
Lost a post a couple of days ago so am trying again with an updated version of five recent pleasures:
1. Much to my astonishment the car passed its MoT first time round - and had an intermediate service as well. The advisories can wait a bit until I can afford them (fingers crossed) and the oil underneath the engine didn't seem to have been a problem (touch wood). Drives fine now. Am very, very relieved indeed that the bill was what I'd budgeted for.
2. Walking off-road back home from dropping the car off at the garage, I picked a big handful of blackberries from the hedgerows for my porridge that morning. The hedges had already been well picked over but there was a good new crop of berries coming along.
3. Sorted out another lot of parcels for selling, boxed up waiting for collection.
4. Spent a few hours yesterday afternoon meeting the 8 week old puppy: beautiful and fun, curious, highly energetic and then totally exhausted. I don't think DS2 and his gf have had much sleep for the last few nights but settling in a new puppy is such a lovely way to spend time.
5. Fresh tomatoes off the plants in the garden. Yummy.
Sweet dreams

Hello. Almost bedtime. Have been rushing around doing stuff the last hour and I’m roasted!Alarm went off at 4am. Doggy walked in the absolutely lashing rain at 4.30am and in at work at 5am.By 10 am when I nipped home it was beautiful. All the rain dried up ( it was torrential overnight) and it’s stayed dry the rest of the day. Met a friend who’s visiting from overseas whilst out walking doggy ( in the sunshine this time) Very quick hello and a very quick catch up but so nice to see her.Work was done and after a busy start slowed down to be a most pleasant pace! Tips were meh but more than I had this morning. In the jam jar.Home, quick shower and then had to head in to town. Had already had to dash down this morning and had hit every red light ( there’s a lot of traffic lights) but someone kindly gave me their parking ticket and as I was only running into the post office I was able to pass the ticket on to the lady parking next to me when I got back to the car, then this afternoon chanced it as it was 4.50pm and car park tickets are till 5pm. Anyway all green on the way home.
Was visiting a friend this evening and met and chatted with two others on the way round! I’m such a blether! Then quick doggy walk. A lovely big half moon in the sky. Then I hoovered, washed floors, hung a washing on clothes horse. Gave house plants a good soak. Chanced hanging 3 big towels outside overnight and aaargh spiders everywhere and snails partying all over the patio!9 -
Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Tidied up.
2) Sent an ebay parcel and some clothes for my friend's son.
3) Moved my car from the village hall car park to the garage. Reminded them that it has no brakes. It is having the brakes replaced and an MOT tomorrow.
4) Went to the cinema. My dad drove. He got a tour of the projection room. This is the first time I have shown a film where everything has gone smoothly to the last second. Usually there is a problem going from adverts to film, or I struggle to turn the lights on at the right point. Where The Crawdads Sing is a miserable film, though. Looking forward to seeing Mark Steel on Friday.
5) Had a video from bigger son of them in the sea in France.10 -
Hi everyoneSome quick pleasures from me before I go to bed and wake up completely!1) The novelty of not having to go to work on a Monday has still not worn off after 4 years of retirement.2) Pottered at home this morning while DH cut the hedge, big job but looks so much better.3) To local shopping centre this afternoon, thrilled to see the bath stuff I used to love years ago is now in shower form and smells just the same. Tend to use soap in the shower these days but just couldn't resist.4) We did our usual daily walk late today and it became very dark halfway round, the pleasure being we didn't slow down and I didn't trip over on the uneven paving slabs. My night vision is pretty rubbish these days.5) Another lovely day but felt very humid when we were out walking, it is now pouring down and I love being in bed when it is raining outside so I'm off before it stops!Goodnight all.11

Pleasures for Monday
1 dog walk/run in the fields
2. washed the dog as very muddy - she now looks very fluffy
3. A run this afternoon of 3 miles
4. Bit of a lazy day as 1st day off after 4 x 12 hours - was meant to be off tomorrow but asked to do a night shift due to staff sickness.
5 Ds2 cooked tea of salmon, potatoes, peas and home made parsley sauce9 -
Just hearing the thunder rolling as I finish huge catch-up read.
Dare & attempt yet another post and hope it doesn't disappear? There may be a chance, as &'s phone underwent major surgery at. MrT yesterday. 3hrs' faffing after all went bonkersly wrong on Friday, following another limping week, during which - DG - & managed to sort Rugby Preview no.140, the first of this new season.
Right, have a little try &. Very, very random is how this lot will be.
Ooh, now hearing big rain, lashing stuff.....
At last, might rain butts fill?
1. Marvellous donated bike, as new, in &'s boot. Collected first thing, offloading at our Ukrainians' next coffee morning, this coming day, 10-noon.
2. Much involvement/fundraising etc based around Club over weekend. 10km run for MIND by one of our Top Squad senior men, the least suited by a long way for such a challenge, by build+injuries, but he was determined to do it. £s target exceeded. & has long liked and admired W, who made his determined way alone to the UK, aiming for Cambridge, at 17 - no other would do - and has funded his way through all necessary degrees. Found rugby via Uni too, our good fortune. Now a solicitor, then LLM last year with prizes, married wonderfully(at Peacock HQ😇on AGM day a year ago💞) et al.
3. Shortly after, same day, 10h. 'Ah, &😀 You're going with N. He has space.' & looks blank. Before she knew it, & is 1 of 4 in an amazing new Merc, sliding seats and all sorts, off to Tunbridge Wells for 1st proper match of season in new higher League after promotion. 14-8, a win, but not great - definitely left the bonus point on the pitch. We will be better, will have to be in this echelon. Still, a lovely day, unexpected, and great night, late back at Club. Thought of you, vl, and have now read your pre-season match post. Our 3 told us nothing - we won them massively at barely a canter. Not a useful test at all. Not Club's fault. 5 teams failed to turn up or claimed 'unable to train: drought pitch dangerous, unfit for play' etc.
4. Such produce from &'s nonsense garden! Volunteer potatoes, figs galore, grapes going mad - they'll be near ready for picking after this downpour, many sorts of tomatoes, gorgeous beans - especially &'s fave purple climbers, blueberries mostly eaten by birds, raspberries, masses of walnuts readying, leeks in - may survive, rhubarb, mixed salads, 3 first time pears. Finally, 1st olive spotted today.
5. Car biz - a continuing uh-oh theme during &'s catch-up read. Pic shows what & returned to last week after several hours.....can't open passenger door. Front left body work needs replacing completely 🤬. But dear Meriva is drivable, necessary with voluntary commitments, food hub runs and various On call and/or birds with broken wings missions. Ditto Frith and Lainey, & car has reg., insurance and MoT ALL due within the month - and also withdrew £s to pay ½-year's storage, now due. Expensive week and month, with NZ funeral plan remittance delayed a further month.
😖😤😡
6. Caught up at length with former CS colleague. Good to do so, but.....many buts re: charity itself, since a person inveigled way in..... Never good and word spreads in a 1 horse Town of Horse. Looked in vain for something wedding-y for weekend, young scientist rugby friends. Lainey will know the place, also beginning with L.... & will work something out. 😁
7. Our lovely, restorative monthly afternoon service was on Sunday again. The same closing song lifts & each time, as previously posted:https://youtu.be/JqK-UnsRTFI
8. All Blacks 53 - Pumas 3. At last, but it's no reason for useless Foster to be anywhere near the team, let alone as Coach. Toulon won against Bayonne, too - allez les rouges et noirs - if narrowly, as did &'s home province to retain the Ranfurly Shield against North Harbour. Teased new Peacocks forwards Coach, fellow kiwi but former North Harbour star player.
9. Tutoring resumes Monday.. Wonderful GCSE results for eldest tutee. One 8, all others 9 - 5 sciences, maths, Englishx2, RE. 2 of the 9s were ✨️awards, although no-one quite knows what these are. & delighted for them all as a family, English being their 3rd language. GCSE and College beginnings for younger siblings tomorrow.
10. Lots of loved radio lately - Mark Steel's in Town - Tring(our next away opponents, as it happens)very funny yesterday. New series: Party's Over, with Miles Jupp as utterly recognisable, dissolute and reprehensible PM, Henry Tobin....😁 Tennis, not so lovely tonight, with beloved Rafa bundled out by Francis Tiafoe - a well-deserved victory too. Rafa hasn't been right all tournament, still not recovered and very little prep, but Tiafoe, who & already really rated, v Kyrgios should be sparky.

1. A new person started at work. She has worked with us before and moved away and come back to do some bank work to fit in with school hours a couple of days a week. She is fine and I get on fine with her.
It will reduce the waiting list slightly.
2. Attended a meeting with colleague at work. She wanted support at it but not only was it a fiasco timing wise. Her letter said 10 and face to face but no venue and it turned out they meant 11 and teams meeting. It was changed to 10.30 and teams as I had patients. The meeting was totally pointless.
3. Chat with DS1 on the phone.
4. Went to local horticultural society and an interesting talk. Chatted with some people there.
5. Reading my book.8
