Hello. Almost bedtime for me. In my actual bed! Doggy been given the okay at the vets today do I don’t need to do nightshifts ! Hurrah! Alarm about to be set for silly o’clock…sigh! So my day has been a mix of good and crap!
Doggy had a good night…it was me that was wide awake for an hour middle of the night!
Round to mums early. Filled car for dump, all going well till someone reversed into my car . I was so angry/upset/emotional/furious. Didn’t have enough words !Dropped some Tupperware type boxes in to work. Had a blether with boss.
Home!Took dog to vets and he got a good review. Back next week for stitches out. Can start to do a wee bit more. Allowed a 5 minute walk & back to normal food. He’s looking so much better today.
Then went to car garage to get car checked internally following clunk so it’s okay.Went to big supermarket at other side of town to get cans of caffeine free Coke and they never had any! Grrrr! And the traffic was abysmal
Home and made pasta for dinner with odds and side from fridge. I feel like it’s ages since I’ve actually cooked properly. Then back round to mums. Update on the decluttering thread.Mostly dry but we did have a shower whilst I was at car garage but feels quite muggy.9 -
No wonder my arm hurt after my trip, I have a radial head fracture to my elbow! Finally went to the local community hospital this morning after being nagged, and above was confirmed after X-rays. It wIll hopefully heal itself with rest in a sling, ice, painkillers and exercise. Good thing is I am allowed to drive, just as well as I drove back to Hertfordshire from Wales🤣
Meet up with ex colleague from school at local park, tea, rocky road and lots of chat.
Easy dinner of pie chips and beans for OH and homemade moussaka from the freezer for me and a few glasses of wine.
OH helped me prepare runner beans for the freezer.
Earlyish night and hopefully a good sleep in the cooler weather.

Good news on Haggis boy 🎉
Welcome HotCocoa
For yesterday,
Spent the morning with pony, bit of schooling working long and low to really engage her muscles, she was good girl for her Mum. Kisses for carrots.
Home and a parcel of books waiting on doorstep, inc cookbook have been wanting for ages, picked up SH on WOB.
Lunch and then worked in garden, only casualty of recent heatwave were my sweet peas, tomatoes still resolutely green. Dead headed lavendar, such a lovely smell.
Tasty tea, paella with a tomato & herb salad.
Had changed the bed so fresh sheets when we went to bed.8 -
Pleasures yesterday
A cooler, more refreshing day compared with those earlier in the week.
Half the day at work doing training updates, a bit of a chore but a jolly craic when people are in civvies. Only a few turned up so we were able to crack on and get done early.
It was the last day for one of my colleagues, who is moving to the USA after about 12 years with us. Sad day but full of love and good wishes. A lovely, lovely chap who got lots of hugs. People had brought lots of stuff in - cakes, crisps, biscuits, usual unhealthy crap. Someone else ordered 9 huge pizzas. Definitely a fat day yesterday, got to do better today. Although I did get some fruit, granola and yogurt from the canteen.
Home early so was able to take son to the station, he's visiting friends in York and London for the weekend. Still can't get over him turning 24 at the beginning of the week.
Finished off fat day by having a burger with some griddled halloumi on top which needed using up. Tasty and filling. I did have a teensy bit of salad with it.
Dog absolutely thrilled to go walkies as usual, she found a huge tree branch that had fallen in the park. It was about six times her size but she made valiant efforts to pick it up and carry it home. No chance, dog, here's a smaller stick for you to take home instead. Added it to the collection in the front garden, after a while the sticks will migrate to the garden waste bin ready for the next collection day.
Honeysuckle and buddleia in full bloom in the park, also lots and lots of blackberries appearing on the bushes. Good pickings to be had soon.
The prospect of a weekend to myself where I can get up to date with housework, laundry and cleaning. Meals planned - beef bourguignonne from the freezer to be heated up with garlic bread, strips of lambs liver that can be stir fried with onions, peppers and green beans. Strawberries, raspberries and yogurt in the fridge, plus lots of clementines. Diet will be healthier than yesterday's and exercise will be done in the form of housework and wrestling with changing bedlinen. Will also do singing practice at some point.
To start with, a big ginger cat on the bed with me. I cleaned some manky clumps of wax out of his ears this morning but he seems to have forgiven me.One life - your life - live it!8 -
Quick pleasures for yesterday (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went for a cup of tea with my sister and niece in the afternoon.
3) Popped to Sainsburys for new pyjamas for smaller son.
4) Went to a pre-season football friendly - against Liverpool!
5) The new football catering was slightly better than the previous.
6) We really struggle with all the footballer's names as we have about 10 new people. The whole squad had a go last night, so 10 substitutions and 21 people played. Smaller son can read their names/numbers on the back of their shirts at a distance. I can't. One of them has the splendid surname "Knight-Percival" so we've ended up calling him "Lancelot" or "Round Table Man". Smaller son was trying to tell me something about him last night and still couldn't get his name right so said, "You know.... Prince Philip's Knights" !!
7) Pleasure from very early yesterday morning. Something triggered the security light which falls on the path between the houses. We looked out and it was a hedgehog.8 -
Not the day I had kind of planned but a nice one all the same.Doggy walk first thing…he used up his five minutes by sniffing! In to work early for an hour and half.Went in to town. Dropped stuff off at charity shop. Went to favourite florist and bought a vase I was after and got 20% off. Used my tips. Nipped to M&S and got a few things.Home. And then out for brunch with DD2. By this point raining.Stopped in at mums on way back to collect some paperworky stuff. And home and sorted out some flowers from the garden in my new vase. And was just about to put my feet up and my son arrived. Out the blue…to see the doggy! Anyway he was cajoled into going round to the granny’s and going up in the loft. Oooft! Update on declutter thread 😆
Back home via supermarket and stocked him up…because I’m nice!He went up in our loft and brought down my suitcases…don’t need them for a while but I can’t reach them! Then I won a prize from favourite florist so he drove me down into town to get that. A lovely display.Farewell to him and hoping to chill for the next couple of hours then alarm set for silly o’clock! Back to normal from tomorrow.8 -
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to the nursery to get a plant to go with my sister's birthday present.
3) Went to see my sister and had a cup of tea and slice of cake. My niece put on a magic show!
4) Went to Halfords afterwards to get a (free) large piece of card (they have all the packaging that bikes are delivered in).
5) Popped in to the museum on the way home to get the little pottery containers my sister liked yesterday (when the pottery workshop was shut!) I won't see her for a week now so I think it'll be too late for a birthday present and I will keep them for Christmas.
6) Spent 3 hours sorting sons' room out. I took the manky old blind down, hoovered and dusted, completely emptied out bigger son's tall chest of drawers full of treasures and washed the drawers out in the bath. Changed one of the bunkbeds. Made a temporary blind out of the large sheet of cardboard.
7) Cleaned the bathroom.
8) Did 3 loads of washing.
9) Meatballs for tea then I made brownies using frozen raspberries.
10) Phoned my school friend.7
