Thank you, VJsmum and DD. It has been split between several people and 2 local charities so it will help a lot of people out.
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) General tidying up before it gets too hot...
3) Made a tray of cinnamon buns which were very nice indeed.
4) Front strip of garden by the road.
5) My mum, dad and brother popped in on the way home from watching the hill climb so they could look at my car. I couldn't rev it and look under the bonnet at the same time. It had gone from 20 years of running perfectly (it's a Toyota), to misfiring and having no power at all. Turns out a fuel line had split and pretty much fallen off the top of the carburettor. It has been pushed back on for now until it can be chopped off and a new clip bought tomorrow.
5) Phoned my school friend.

For yesterday,
Up and out in the garden by 7am as Capt S had the front of the hedge to finish before it got too hot. I watered the garden and then cleared up after him.We had a Sky engineer booked for 8am as box stopped working, he turned up at 5 past as lived in the village, all sorted.
Shower, breakfast and then quick trip into horsey town to get a few fresh bits for the next couple of days. It was like Armageddon in the SM with people piling trolley’s high, err the hot weather only lasting 2 days isn’t it or perhaps it’s usually like this as I don’t normally go on a weekend?
Rest of day passed in gentle pottering, much reading, listening to the radio and keeping as cool as possible.
Gentle stroll around 7, decent breeze and we didn’t go far with small dog, home and we watched Murder in Provence, perfect for a Sunday evening.9 -

Hot potatoes here…and obviously at 28o not the hottest potatoes in the land but more than hot enough for me.Very restless night, up and down several times, think I saw most hours on the clock. But a better than yesterday doggy today so I’ll take that as a win. He has appetite again. Most strange when your food loving labrador refuses food! Just too hot for him. Collar of shame currently off as I imagine it’s hot in there! Will be back on by bedtime though or if he starts licking …whichever comes first! And he has a big wagging tail again so that’s good too.
Vet called me this morning to see how he was and said that and made her day that he was doing okay. Was in at work till midday, then found out my whole week of second job has been covered ( yaaaas)
Son called to see how his best brother was.
However washing dried in an hour!Had a snooze when I got in from work was so tired, then phoned vets to pay bill and after that felt I should have had a lie down in a darkened room 😩
And tea tonight is courtesy of Maccas.10 -
Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) My brother picked me up and we went to see the solicitor with all our ID.
3) On our return, my brother did a proper mend of my car with some tape and a cable tie!
4) Quite a few emails backwards and forwards between me and the cinema. I'm going to have another training evening then I shall be projecting (?) the Elvis film on my own...
5) Heat pretty awful all day and about 33 degrees after tea when I went out to water the pots. It is 29 degrees both inside and outside the house now (I had kept the windows and curtains shut all day. It stayed below 23 degrees inside until 4ish then just went up and up).
6) Made some Millies Cookies.
7) Might look for meteorites later.8 -

For yesterday,
Over to see pony first thing, all ok and being so light she reflects the heat better than the dark Bays. The yard owner sent me a video a bit later showing all the horses in and enjoying soaked hay.
The thermometer in the car just tipped over to 30 degrees as I pulled up at home, however the cottage was relatively cool with all windows & curtains shut.
A shy Dunnock that is usually scared off by the sparrow squadron splashing around in the water feature was having a bath in the pot saucer of water had left out, it looked so happy!
As with Frith and despite all precautions the temp creeped up late afternoon so put a tray of ice cubes in front of the fan for improvised air conditioning.
Tea was continental meats with pot salad and bread, melon for afters.8
