I'm glad to hear Haggis is going on OK. MHags.
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) House reasonably tidy.
3) Got the spade off the allotment (trowel is completely lost) and dug up a dead rose bush near the house. Split up herbs and potted them then put them in the living room as it is going to be so hot. Ended up with 2 x camomile, 3 x purple flowered lemon thyme, 2 x chives and 1 lemon balm. Also put a few split up plants back in the garden.
4) Went to M and S for the pineapple tarts we liked. A Scottish lady said, "Oh, are those pineapple tarts? I haven't seen those for sale since I left Scotland!" I said they are our firm favourite from M and S.
5) Had my headlight bulb changed at Halfords.
6) Went to Sainsburys. Saw loads of people I know. Got plenty of shopping for the next few days.
7) In other news, which I can't leave unmentioned, I received a solicitor's letter and have inherited a share of my auntie and uncle's money.
8) Watching Casualty now.
9) My brother is coming round later to sit outside and look for meteorites.10 -
Hope Haggis is ok 😊
having a wonderful time in South Wales visiting an old college friend (40 years since I've seen her) with another college friend who I see a couple of times a year. She has made us so welcome in her lovely home and garden with beautiful views across the countryside. We went to see the beautiful botanical gardens and were privileged to be shown this gorgeous owlet, only 6 weeks old, 1 of a pair.
It was boiling 🥵 but not as hot as at home.
Tonight we sat in the cool shade of the garden and had dinner followed by a hilarious 🤣 game of cluedo and several games of cards. We saw a red kite and later heard an owl and saw bats.
Tomorrow we are planning a swim at Pendine Sands, my idea to cool off. Not looking forward to the journey back to SE England on Monday 🥵

Pleasures for today
Pup woke extra early and it’s not even a work day. - pleasures that’s Ds2 took pup for a walk early.
2.As I didn’t have to walk the pup I managed a 6 mile walk/run even by 7.30 it was warm
3. Plenty of shade in the footpaths nearby.
4. Chilli in the slow cooker made for an easy tea.
5. Too hot to sit out so did some sorting indoors.11 -
Hoping Haggis is still improving..
1 First top coat on everywhere, final coat depends on tomorrow's weather.
2 A salad for lunch which the last of the chicken in, ended up with a pork roast for dinner.
3 Had to hoover to paint, so ended up hoovering the whole house and changing the ferret bedding.
4 Watched Gemini man

1. Beautiful hills and green and loveliness, in words and pics, Elisheba and Paulie. Puts me straight in mind of this, just heard:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m00199fv
2. & is under her own outside green, with early inspection, watering, lime+lemon marmalade toast and 'cappuccino'. Birdsong, tree fluttering sounds, still, cool, with tiny slight breeze.
3. Oh! the worse and worse repeat woes of lamentable ABs under absolutely useless Foster, who should never have been appointed.😡 Default at early Club watching, amid many 🏉friends, was that this was &'s P45 Get Rid Masterplan. The Pumas alone of Southern hemisphere sides claimed a series win yesterday. Ireland were excellent, so flagwaved Dual Passport thing, plus Livret de Famille ahead of next year's World Cup.😁 Both will very likely be needed.
4. Parked deep in shade beside trees at Peacock HQ.
5. No more Charity shelf books, no more rtc plants over the road at garden centre, while collecting voucher offer birdseed for friend. Well done &🙄😁 - only 6 No More Books and 3 rtc plants.....

Frith always a sad way to come into money but can't think of a nicer person to receive a bequest
1) Usual lazy Saturday start then lift into town with dd2 - I bought toiletries for Malta (only got cabin baggage), wandered past DrM's coffee shop, waved at him and another friend cos i needed to get back - was rewarded by a lovelyand a wave (to add to the Austenness we won't even mention the advances from another gentleman or the texts from a widower now signed with an x...)
2) lift to airport from DD2 which meant I paid for the petrol (I suspect that was her cunning plan!) and also got there 5 hours early but got a side table in Spoons, got the never ending tea cup, plugged in my puter, free wifi and got 2 important bits of work done
3) once out ate my sandwich and apple and waited for my gate - 50 minutes late but a good flight - treated myself to a cup of tea and kept one of the milks 'for emergencies'
4) passport control very quick then greeted by chap holding up my name - very posh - well past midnight Malta time so was glad the Uni had arranged that for me
5) made a cuppa with my trusted travel kettle using the emergency milk sachet, air con on and zzzzzz till 2 minutes before the alarm. The hotel is basic but clean which suits me just fine - also has its own swimming pool, small but clean. My room is at the top and has its own boardroom - they must have known i'm here to work - so plan for today is work, lunch (i packed a sandwich at breakfast and brought up a cup of milk, now languishing in the sink with a wet flannel over - mse habits die hard!) siesta then wander up to St Julian's Bay for an explore then supperMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Sounds like Haggis dog enjoyed having his hoomans visit, continuing to send healing wishes.
For yesterday,
Made bread dough and then dog walk, lovely at 7am, loaf was out of the oven and cooling by 9.
Over to see pony, picked up some small HG parsnips at the community cafe, two fed and two more hid in evening hay net.
Changed fly mask to full face one to protect pink part of nose, chat with yard owner and happy that the horses will have a couple of hours turnout at 6am and then back in when it’s get hot, their barn is open ended and shady so they will be much more comfortable in the stables and out of the sun.
House cool so lots of reading and maybe a snooze or two.
Nice breeze got up in the evening so sat outside, cold beer and pizza was involved as well, small dog chasing moths across the grass.9 -
Frith, wot DD said.
Glad Haggis is on the mend
Pleasures for Friday
1. cleaned up the plastered room
2. watered garden
3. Phone call from OH - MiL very ill might be "the beginning of the end" (this is not the pleasure, obviously). But the pleasure is being in a position to return to the midlands straight away to offer support (I *think* this is OH being as he is, overly pessimistic).
4. Ate the tea I'd taken to Wales and brought back home
5. gin
and yesterday
1. a visit to MiL - she is in a sorry state but doesn't look like she's departing just yet <<touches wood>>
2. Both our kids came to see her "just in case"
3. MiL taken well to the carers who've been put in place
4. OH and i went to the pictures when we got back - The Railway Children return. Was very 'meh'
5. chicken for tea, was tasty.
Have a good day, stay cool y'allI wanna be in the room where it happens10 -
Hello
Big work day done ! Oooft it was hot. My head did not want to be there it wanted to be at home with a dog.
picked him up at 9.30 saw him settled then had to go back to work.
bit of a role swap this afternoon. A newish colleague was doing what I normally do to learn how to do it. She was fine. Not terribly busy…one of the younger girls kept saying it’s such a long day and I just thought er try coming in at 5am instead of 10am then you can say it’s a long day!Anyway home via supermarket for some chicken to tempt a boy’s appetite. No thanks, you’ve hidden tablets in it😆
I’ll be sleeping downstairs next few nights.
tips meh but more than I had this morning10 -
goodness heat is so tiring!
1) set alarm for 8:20 (breakfast finishes at 9) woke at 8:18
2) nice breakfast, saved a little for lunch and brought up a cup of milk for tea
3) finished book #1, finished going over programme for tomorrow, ate my little lunch, watched a programme on JWST, looked up why JWST images have 6 spikes while Hubble only have 4 (https://www.theverge.com/23220109/james-webb-space-telescope-stars-diffraction-spike if you're interested) and at 3
4) braved the heat - 10 minutes down the road turned back had an hour's nap then swam 64 lengths (very small pool but had it to myself yay, pool by then was in shade)
5) 7pm went to find something to eat - not a lot open locally but i guess it is Sunday and a small town - found a pizza place - although kitchen closed they were able to warm some up for me which I had with an Aperol.
and now i'm back, been on my balcony enjoying fireworks, think i'm going to make myself a cuppa, read some more of book #2 and zzzzzzzz. pool opens at 6, breakfast at 7 and they pick me up at 8:30.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
