Sending big hugs to mhagster & Haggis. To keep an unhappy Labrador cool & comfortable, it seems cool wet towel & a fan. Possibly with a cool damp blanket over him if he starts to overheat. Best of healing luck to you!10

Plans made to meet up with friends.
Ice lolly from the freezer
Geranium plants bought - reduced to a £1 each.9 -
Everything crossed for a smooth recovery for Haggis ,
hope you get some sleep Mhags9 -
so pleased to hear haggis is in recovery mhags
1) a frustrating / good day in equal measure- managed quite a few emergency work things plus family
2) most importantly at lunch time i drew up the calendar for the next month, got the key dates from self, dd2 and ds, and we have worked out moving ds's stuff down to mine, cleared a room, and booked accommodation for family wedding in August
3) got my workshop written for Tuesday and all travel docs printed out yay
4) which meant i was a bit late for the pub (!) mr e and dr m already there, i got the footie on, bought my round and settled in for a lovely evening - dr m's friend joined us - he's a new convert to bowie having been to the convention in Liverpool (i couldn't go due to being in munich d'oh) - next year's is in new york - he's keen to go and dr m might be persuaded so long as he doesn't have to go to the bowie convention 🤣
5) dr m and i walked home, met a rather drunk 'book club' and i have been gifted Boris Starlin's 'Vodka' - one of them asked if we were boyfriend girlfriend we both stayed silent sigh then they disappeared we continued talking about the james webb telescope (as one does -it's many years since i did astrophysics as an UG so i am thinking all my books will be well out of date, dr m did a phd in astrophysics but only slightly older but i suspect has kept a bit more up-to-date) then i said i liked him far more than i planned (true, after my marriage collapse swore of men for ever), gave him a hug and made a quick exit home. sigh.
Off to Malta (work trip) back Thursday so may be absent depending on wifi / time.

Good morning🌞🌞🌞
Fingers crossed Haggis is feeling better today, and back home soon.
DfV - it's lovely to hear how your sons are looking after you in a non -fussy, gently teasing way. Hugs to all three of you.
D Doll - the Dr M saga now has an almost Jane Austen feel !
Phew! The end of a week of appointments. 5 medical, 1 hair ! But also one DGD birthday party and 1 meeting friends for lunch. The kitchen blackboard was crammed.
I have a bright yellow hibiscus in a pot just where I can see it from here. It cost £12:99 and I've already had that many times over in pleasure.
We plan to go to the caravan, possibly Sunday, in the hope it will be cooler at the coast. I am very rarely too hot but DH often is!
Happy 🌞Saturday everyone10 -
Ooh DD it’s like watching a Richard Curtis film!
For yesterday,
Stopped at the feed store for horse chaff and a chat with pal who owns it, she’s had a surprise return on one of her spaniel pups and he was assisting her in the shop. Gorgeous little fella and am tempted but not sure what my old lady would think of him.
Spent an hour day-dreaming while the beautiful grey one grazed along the side of the field, as someone whose mind is constantly racing it’s good to stop and just be for a time. So many dragon flies were zipping around the ditch and one even landed on girlie’s back.
Driving home and noticed the leaves already starting to turn on the horse chestnut trees, they are always the first by far but it does seem early even for them, the days march away.
Acted as labourer for Capt S as he started the annual marathon hedge cut, pleasure was we were doing it together and there was a cold beer when we finished.
Smoked haddock kedgeree for tea, hungry after a busy afternoon and ice-cream played a part as well!

Pleasures - awoke early, sun shining.
Dropped son off at rail station, just in time for his train.
Called in at University sports fields in next village, a popular running and dog walking place. It was 07:50 and hardly anyone was about.
Fabulous walk with dog. I spotted meadow geranium and golden rod growing profusely. Dog spotted big black birds on the field and had a lovely chase followed by a good time splashing in the stream.
Home to coffee and toast.
Productive time spent pruning and watering in the garden.
Managed to trap and release outside a large bumble bee that had found its way indoors and was buzzing in a frantic manner.
Following the principle of closing blinds and curtains on the sunny side of the house and opening them on the shady side meant the house stayed nice and cool.
Drinking plenty of cool, filtered water today.
Some productive work making a batch of chilli and a batch of bolognaise for the freezer, using the Tefal CookforMe so the kitchen wasn't hot and uncomfortable.
A small choc ice on a stick as I relaxed in the garden. One life - your life - live it!11 -
Hello. Just called vets for a wee update. Dog boy doing okay for what he’s been through but being kept in another night as still a bit sore. So that’s okay and I can go to my bed and hopefully sleep a bit better. So for today : an anxious sleep.
Woke up before the alarm went off but saw a beautiful sunrise.Into work at silly o’clock for a couple of hours.
went to fat camp somehow lost a pound…Certainly not from following any kind of plan, didn’t stay just got weighed.
Home and started sorting through the piles of piles that I have brought home from mums. Have various baskets for different people ( aunts/cousin/sister/niece) so that photos/paperwork stuff can go the appropriate person. Then vet called to give me update. I asked if we could pop in for a visit and she said would you like that and how about now? So we went down and were with him for about 75 minutes. I thought we’d just be there for 10 so it was lovely to have that time with him. He was a bit excited to see us then settled down quickly, told us all about what had happened ( he’s a very ‘chatty’ dog) lay with his head on Dd2 lap and kept looking up just to check she was still there . I lay down on the floor beside him. Just gently talking and stroking his head. He’s all shaved and stitched. Vet was happy with how happy he was with us. She was so, so nice. Then he was due meds so had to go back through to his bed. We went to local castle for a very late breakfast. Met a couple I know so chatted for ages.Dropped off DD2 and went round to mums . Loaded car for tip. Update on decluttering thread. But a good load out today.Home. Did a bit more sorting of the ‘stuff
’
Got a tax rebate, thank you very much. So sorted that out online.Had put up a post on FB for some free stuff so managed to get rid of 3 out of 4 things. One picked up two dropped off. Big blethers at the two drop offs. And that was my day. Not quite a full day off but as close as I’m going to get! Have had to rearrange work hours to look after doggy this coming week.Thank you for being so caring.12
