For yesterday,
A lie-in followed by warm pastries for breakfast.
With my pony and a gentle wander around the fields, high above us the honey buzzards were riding the thermals and calling to each other.
Graze in-hand afterwards and smiled to see my girlie cleverly avoid the prickles and gently nip the flower off a thistle to eat.
Made a loaf and roasted a rtc gammon joint for cold today as temperature is meant to be high again.
An afternoon of pottering in the garden and reading my book.
The evenings are slowly drawing in and we are once again lighting candles by 9pm

Good morning. It's been raining. Not much I don't think but everywhere is wet for the first time in ages.
Paulie - hope your elbow is feeling better. What a thing to happen!
D Doll - sounds as if you enjoyed Malta. It's a place I'd love to return to.
Hot Cocoa - welcome! Here is a good place to be
We're back from the coast. Was certainly a blessing to be there in the heatwave.
Spent a while recently wrestling with an insurance company! We have an annual policy and needed to add a new condition (hernia). Company will cover everything except new condition because we didn't tell them when we took policy out. We couldn't because it wasn't there then! Been round that loop a few times but they won't budge. Keep referring to t and c! Grrr!
However - Top Tip!! Looking for an alternative I searched on a comparison website for travel insurance but didn't follow any up. Have had offers of 15/20% off by email from three different companies! Worth knowing for next time!
Lovely lunch at DD's yesterday. Bbq chicken with salad and garlic bread. Had a trial run of fitting 4 suitcases in her car boot. They fit! Phew. Also booked parking in Southampton for the cruise. But tricky cos it's the week of the boat show, but we finally found somewhere.
Have picked up my embroidery again. Puffin picture almost done. Also ought to finish garden bunting before summer is gone. Need bias binding but there are sadly no haberdashery shops in town so will have to order on line.
Sun is out now so happy Sunday everyone

Yesterday's Positives
Despite a 6 hour work shift feeling like a 60 hour shift it was a good laugh. I've only been at this care home 10 weeks and yesterday was the first time I truly felt like part of the team rather than the newbie
Cuppa and a cinnamon bagel waiting for me when I got home
My mum and stepdad popping in late afternoon and a surprise meal out for myself and dds with them
Chatting with hubby in the evening (he's working away atm) and finding out he's coming home Monday, a week earlier than expected
Catching up on f1 quali with a sneaky g&t
Work again for me today. Happy Sunday lovely people9 -

1. Just heard and listened again at once❤, as well as sending it to Spain and tutee family, so why not share here?❤😃 & is straight back in earliest NZ bush childhood in Ngaio.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/b04mj5kt
2. Re-did feeders circa 6 bells, as required by a very, very close blue tit, perched within 50cms of &'s arm, in walnut tree. Disturbed a big hawk-moth when opening back door to go and do so.
3. Some tomatoes and beans forming - at last. Yes, & is also rationing rainbutt water, while equally aware of mains water £s.😖 The figs need it daily and their next generation is now coming.....😬. Will manage somehow.
4. 5 clothing sacks and kitchen goods from widowed friend(no transport, extremely rural) taken by Town of Gown EACH yesterday.
5. So glad I decided to visit on Friday arvo. Her little rescue dog, now 12, is like a bouncing puppy since recent removal of 7!!! teeth. Heavy rain began and & had hopes. No sign when back at squat, but enough must have fallen to fill 1 rainbutt👏 if not the other 2.

Hello! The longest busiest workety work day is over! Praise be!Oooft at alarm clock.Quick doggy walk, went a tiny bit further than yesterday. Much sniffing to be done. But oooh at the not quite as light as it was at that time a few weeks ago 🙁
In at work at 5.30am. Busy with catering first but watched Virgin River as I worked!Nipped home for 20 minutes to check in on doggy. He was fine and DD2 was here but just wanted out for a bit and to see he was okay. Then ooooft, crazy busy! Not sure where everyone was coming from! And tips were not reflective of how busy we were but still more than I had this morning.Home and hello doggy , so nice to see you too. I’ve missed you.Shower and jammies on. Not going any further than a quick doggy walk later.Phone call with a lovely customer this evening, I always follow up catering events with an email to say thank you and to hope they enjoyed their food and day. This was a lady who was a wee bit older who’d asked if I’d call her the other week as she didn’t like emails. So a 45 minute chatter with her!And it’s just been absolutely lashing with rain! So that’s good for the garden saves watering tonight!Sue happy anniversary hope you have lots of lovely memories to think back on of previous years.8 -
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep, though I did keep getting up to watch the hedgehog in the garden. I ran out and put some cat food in a bowl for him (while he curled up and I pretended I couldn't see him) but he ignored that and just dragged the empty sachets around! Then I was woken at 2am by a bellow and I had to run and kill a spider.
2) Watched television in the morning.
3) Did some ironing and kept circulating the washing round the radiators. It has rained on and off all day.
4) Went to the cinema voluntary job for a meeting about what jobs we might do when it is closed for a fortnight. Also helped lift some of the pantomime bits back on the stage so they can be put away.
5) Tasty tea from the freezer of macaroni, leek and gammon cheese.8 -
Pleasures for today
1. New dog carer in place for the days I am working.
2. Roast Chicken dinner.
3. Cleaned all downstairs.
4. Drinking lots of water with lemon slices.
5. Enjoyed Jools Holland concert.6
