Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Just warm enough all day not to need a jumper.
3) A lovely drive over to the cinema where I volunteer. I had another practice at being the projectionist. Set it all up, left the adverts running. Came downstairs to talk to the front of house people and watch the happy children walking through to watch their film...
And after the adverts and the classification - a blank screen! I have never run up a set of stairs so fast. There are 3 laptops plugged into a humming wall of hardware so I went through the checklist again, faffed with the main laptop as much as I could (of course, no programs that you would come across in normal life, just specialised ones). I reloaded the whole lot (leaving people literally in the dark) and the adverts started playing again, from the beginning. I made a phone call. After 10 minutes of adverts, classification screen, black screen - bloody adverts again! I was getting quite hot by that point.
The man arrived and managed to hack in and delete the adverts so at least the film played immediately. We were a good 40 minutes late by that point. It turns out that someone has to get the film (and licence) then programme it to play adverts, black screen, certificate, black screen, film. I just have to run that whole block. They had made a mistake and put the adverts to run 3 times!
4) Had a fishfinger sandwich in the cafe immediately next door afterwards. It was 3pm by that point!
5) Took smaller son to the football, versus Man Utd. We lost 1-0.
6) Listened to the Lionesses game on my phone on the drive home.7 -
For yesterday,
Not a great start as got in the mini and engine warning light, luckily Capt S wasn’t using his so jumped in that instead.
Over to see horse, just a quick visit as yard was due to be invaded by loads of excitable kids for a pony day, but she got a groom and a couple of carrots.
Dropped car off at garage in village, call back two hours later to say light had gone off and computer had two error codes so rather than strip engine to see which problem - neither was a major one - bring it home but go straight back in if happens again. Picked it up and no charge ☺️Pottering around the garden, fed the tomatoes and tidied up some of the herbs, they must be the hardest working plants of all and add such flavour to many of our meals.
Watched and enjoyed the footie game.6 -
