Good afternoon.
DfV - whisht!! My grandma used to say 'Be whisht '. Not heard it since, unless someone was singing about the Lambton Worm!
Lainey - Wow. What a beautiful flower. You must be doing something right!
Well, today's phone battle was with BT. We have the most basic of broadband packages and , to be fair, it wasn't going up this time but when I checked it was still expensive compared to others. In the end it wasn't a battle at all. They were very helpful and knocked enough off to make me happy ( and wish I'd done that earlier!) New box too as ours can be selective about what it records.
Got a recent Elly Griffiths book on kindle daily deal for 99p so that's me quiet for a while.
Re watching Endeavour from the beginning. I know we've seen them all but we've also forgotten most of them. Certainly forgotten whodunit so worth another watch.
Happy Saturday everyone

Hello, my new friends. So, the rollercoaster that is my life at the moment continues. My mum is,and has been for some time, very poorly. My brother stayed last night as she seemed to be fading. This morning, she was visited by the district and McMillan nurses, paramedics and the doctor. He was told that it is just a matter of days but she is better at home and the necessary drugs have been sorted. However, I have just hear from him to say that she has rallied again and is sat up in bed chatting to the evening carer!I'm not sure if this is a reprieve or the calm before the storm, we have been here so many times and, every time, my nerves are in shreds. However, come what may, there are pleasures:1) We have had seven 'bonus' years with my mum since her diagnosis. In that time, we have taken her and my dad (until he died last October) on holiday, on days out, to family gatherings and weddings, to the cinema and theatre, we have had Christmases and birthdays that they didn't expect to see. Whatever needs to be said has been said, we have laughed and cried, she has reached the age of 94 and has, by her own admission, had a wonderful life. We have been very lucky and those pleasures are there to be remembered in the future.2) The support we have had from all the medical staff and carers has been superlative. They think the world of my mum and have shown nothing but kindness and compassion to her, as they did to my dad.3) My DH, as usual, has been a tower of strength, I lean on him very hard at times and he has never failed me or been other than kind and steadfast. The pleasure is that I chose very, very well second time round.4) We spent some time in the gardens of a local stately home that we have season tickets for, it was so beautiful and peaceful and put everything into perspective a bit. The gentle walk and fresh air were much needed.5) My son went through a crippling divorce last year, from which it has taken us all a long time to recover. However, he is coming round a bit now and has taken his boys away for the weekend, a good step in the right direction.Apologies, as a newbie, for throwing all this at you. I hope you are all having enjoyable weekendsH x9

Hello. Yet another busy day. I reckon I have another 2-3 weeks of being busy then can hopefully slow down.Anyway woke at 5.40am which is about an hour later than usual.Quick walk with doggy we got soaked!Had to nip to work to open up and then later to close.
Tip run in the rain! But each time I drive to the tip I see the distant hills.Home. May have had a snoozette with a doggy on my knee.Went for lunch with DD2 to my very favourite place. Then round to mums. Was mainly out in garden. Started to tackle shed. Eeek at the spiders. Update on decluttering thread. Just me & a constant buzz of nearby bees.
cut a few buddleia sprigs…left plenty for the bees!Had to leave to go lock up.
Went to l!dl as had a £5 off spend. I’ve really not shopped ‘properly’ in ages. And I think prices there were probably more expensive than the last time I went but still a lot cheaper than my local supermarket. It’s just a faff to drive to other side of town. However their lactose free milk was £1.30 local supermarket has went from £1.60 to £1.90! Which is a tad excessive! Stocked up!Then we went to asd@ as DD2 has a blue light card and she gets 10% discount. I saw a nice dress ( I’ll be on my travels soonish) but had a few wee loose threads so asked if they had another in that size. No. They took 20% off then got further 10% off. Can’t return it but as I like it I won’t want to!And now need to put shopping away which I loathe but plenty proper food to start having proper meals again. After a wet start it turned in to a lovely day.And now after I put the shopping away time for bed as back to big work tomorrow! Sigh!7 -
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) All washing dried and ironed.
3) Wildlife Club (held yesterday) is having a photography exhibition so I thought I would find bigger son's old camera. Then I had to go out and buy a new cable for it and unscrew a fitting he had welded together (probably to mount it on his bike). It is charged now and ready to go.
4) Got a little present for smaller son's birthday while I was out (19 next week).
5) Watched a bit of the rugby 7s on BBC as my brother and dad were in the crowd at the stadium in Coventry.
6) Phoned my school friend.7 -
Highdays - no apologies needed. That's what we're all here for. Just to listen and understand. Hugs x6

Happycas - I'm afraid once I started it all seemed to pour out so thank you so much for your kind words, they meant a lot.(Briefer) pleasures for today:
1) Mum is calmer and more peaceful.2) My brother and sister are happy to be with her for the moment, gives me time to rest and recoup a bit.3) Not got a lot of energy or mind space at the moment but changed the beds, prepped some meals for the freezer and got the washing up to date so feeling a bit more organised.4) After a couple of damp, grey days the sky is lightening a bit and the sun is peeping through.5) I've finally lost a very stubborn pound, giving me 3.5 stones off since Christmas. the not so much of a pleasure being I've still got a long way to go but am now just over half way.Hope everyone is having a good Sunday.7 -
